  1. There is a NEW patch available at AEROSOFT for the Budapest package.

This patch is for FSX only. The FS2004 version is not updated at this time.

The update is a major overhaul on the scenery, also correcting minor bugs but

most importantly it deals with the very slow speed that most users

    experienced under FSX-SP2.

Even by using a state of the art computer, the scenery worked horrible under

SP2 (Acceleration), giving a framerate of 3-8. This updates corrects all

performance related problems, so by using the same high-end PC, now the

framerate is between 20-32 with full settings.

Although the birth of this update was mainly triggered by the SP2 update for

FSX, this patch for the scenery is also working under SP1 and it is also

highly recommended for users running FSX under the SP1 patch.

This update contains some overhauled .bgl files and a few texture files,

some of them new and not present in the original release.

Therefore all files simply need to be copied to the relevant 'scenery' and

'texture' folders, overwriting all older files.

This update will only work if the earlier SP1 update (June 2007) is already

    applied to the scenery.

SP2 is far less forgiving regarding autogen in an airport area, so all vegetation

that appear right in SP1, is just killed by SP2 in the airport area, we are

sorry but can not help it, it seems to be a new SP2 'feature'.

  2. How to make compatible Aerosoft’s Mega Airport Budapest 2007 (FS2004 version only) with the old Budapest 2003 scenery by Lago

What you can achieve by this unsupported solution is to get all the small airports in the vicinity and all 3d objects in the city itself.

A slightly improved autogen version is included with the Mega 2007 version for the entire city, so you will have very similar result to the old scenery’s city.

For this (we repeat: unsupported) solution you need at least update 1.02 of Mega Budapest 2007 but update 1.2 is highly recommended. If you do not have these you can download them from http://www.aerosoft.com

The installer of the new 2007 version creates a main ‘Budapest’ folder and two subdirectories below that.

    1. Budapest_LHBP

    2. Budapest_Photo

These need to be defined in the same order, meaning the airport files need to have higher priority in the scenery library.

    Step 1.

Copy all .bgl files from the old Budapest scenery’s SCENERY folder to the SCENERY folder of the Budapest_Photo folder’s SCENERY subfolder.

You should copy them all BUT should not copy the following files:

    af2_lhbp.bgl

    bp2003.bgl

    bpmesh.bgl

If you have applied one of the available patches for the old Lago scenery, it is possible that instead of bp2003.bgl yours is named bp2004.bgl. In this case the verdict is the same, DO NOT copy the file to the new subfolder.

    Step 2.

Copy all bitmap (.bmp) files from the old Budapest scenery’s TEXTURE folder into the TEXTURE subfolder of the Budapest_Photo folder.

Wait! Not all of them, but only those that DO NOT start with

    011232*********.bmp numbers.

Those are already there and you should not overwrite them.

    Step 3.

Go to your FS2004’s EFFECTS folder and make sure that all 5 Budapest related effect files are already there. These are:

    bp_dark_smoke.fx

    bp_large_smoke.fx

    bp_mid_smoke.fx

    bp_small_smoke.fx

    bp_small_smoke2.fx

    Step 4.

This step is optional. It only removes some of the texture (.bmp) files that are not used anymore in this combination of the two scenery releases.

If you have copied all .bmp files to the city’s TEXTURE subfolder (without the exceptions mentioned in step 2.) now you may delete all texture files that start with LHBP***

    Actually these start from lhbp-alap0001.bmp

and the last one is lhbp-alap0021.bmp

    You are done.

Please note, that the old scenery also contained a carefully designed VFR-IFR traffic file for all small airports, but in case you still have the old scenery, you should have it already, or since then you may have turned to using some advanced traffic generator utility, that anyway has changed those files.

  3. Andras,

I just bought Budapest 2007 and have flown to LHBP several times and sometimes there are no complete docking bridges (only the last portion is visible) there if you are in the outside view.

I use your scenery together with AES is there some ploblems known?

    Hi,

I guess I have answered this in the Aerosoft forum.

  4. I heard, that the scenery doesn't contain Malev's static/dynamic aircrafts, and the scenery has just two animated object a bus, and a car. There aren't animated gates, animated fuel trucks, animated catering service.

    What is the matter?

Animated gates are available via AES by Aerosoft.

Static aircraft are not really fashionable nowadays, what do you miss actually?

There are over ten dynamic car tracks and no more because I didn't want them to always cross used taxiways.

Can you name a scenery that uses all you listed?

  5. When you talk about Freihegy you talk about Ferihegy 2, correct?

    Hi Peter,

Of course I'm talking about Budapest-Ferihegy (LHBP) airport, which has 3 terminals by now. Term 1, 2a and 2b.

I guess it is natural, that terminal 1 will also be there in the scenery, it is not depicted on the screenshots I quickly did, for the simple reason that it is far from being completed. But it will be there, don't worry...

Well, terminal 1 is highly functional now, as you rightly put it, although far from being spectacular from the design point of view :P It is still ugly as always has been...

  6. the forthcoming new scenery, will it be for existing customer an upgrade or do we need to buy it completely new?

By the way I would not mind to pay for your good work!

Alas, it will definitely be payware, once again.

The reason is simple - I've been working on this new version for 4 months now and it is far from being finished.

The second is that this is not "Budapest" as such, but only the LHBP airport, although it will be compatible with the rest of the city from the old version.

As FSX will allow a much higher photorealistic terrain resolution than FS2004, I have been thinking of doing a new Budapest photo-terrain as well, but only future tells if it happens or not.

Actually this new version will perhaps be my last scenery done for FS, I have been doing this for over 10 years now, started with Budapest, so perhaps the best is to finish the venture at the same place...

  7. But I'm still waiting for the San Francisco Scenery. Any news about this project?

    Hi Frank,

Bad news. It will never be done or rather finished.

Reason is that perhaps for the first time during my time spent on designing FS stuff, there were technical difficulties that simply can not be solved, or at least not in this FS version (g).

I was also out of designing sceneries for more than a year and there are so many San Francisco versions out there (mega, megamega, megamegamega) that compatibility could not have been achieved.

  8. Hi folks,

Not sure if anyone still reads this forum, specially that the object of this forum - Budapest scenery - is truly getting old by now, but good news for those still in love with the Hungarian capital:

Brand new Ferihegy airport scenery is under construction.

The new version will use the latest state of the art techniques available and also will guarateed to be compatible with the forthcoming FSX.

I expect the release to be around September 2006.

  9. Did you get feedback or do have already a solution ?

Your post was from July this year. But no reply from anybody.

    Thomas,

It was good as news, because the second version of the software allows automatic startup, so there was no need for further 'intervention'.

  12. Hi,

A new update is available for Budapest.

This patch contains some changes to the scenery itself and makes it compatible with most 3rd party European meshes available today.

Solves elevation related problems at LHTL (Tokol) airport and AI elevation at LHBP.

The Danube river is now flattened correctly and a missing (default) part is added at the end, where Budapest scenery ends.

    Please go to http://web.axelero.hu/andkozma/budapest2003/default.htm

and find the 'Updates' page, there you find the patch in zipped form.

Please carefully follow the installation instructions, as some files need to be deleted manually!

    regards
