  1. I wish Computer Pilot would allow you to subscribe to a PDF version of the magazine you download online at a much cheaper rate than the printed one. At the current prices it would cost more to subscribe to it than it does for me to subscribe to both Flying and Canadian Aviator combined, both of which are quite a bit larger than Computer Pilot, I just can't justify the price for myself.

  2. I can cover northern Quebec (Ungava, Hudson and James Bay coasts, La Grande etc.) if you want to cover the southern and central parts. Or if you want to do all of it that's fine too, I'll be working on the northern territories before Quebec so it would be some time before I get there..

  3. On my flight last night I was parked at Prince George, and had an assignment to pick up cargo from Quesnel, and bring it up to Prince George. The timer started as I left, but I had enough time for both legs and was only 4 mins late - so it seems to account for the first leg too - though it was a short flight so perhaps the 20% was enough for this one, but not enough for a longer flight.

  4. Actually that's a good point Tom - Also I considered the fact that not all areas would be really suited to "bush" flying, or cargo in general. I live in Southern Ontario and the only cargo flying here is for DHL or Fedex in rather large planes.

Perhaps we could just make this project still Canada wide, but focusing on good spots for flying, and omitting some airports that wouldn't be of interest.

Instead of jumping out east perhaps I will continue with some areas out west in BC - finish up my Rocky Mountains areas plus do some areas up north first if you want to handle the Maratime provinces.

  5. Would anyone else be interested in helping me create cargo areas covering various sections of Canada? This is the birthplace of bushflying, and the nation that brought you the Beaver, Otter, Twin Otter, Bush Hawk, Canuck, Norseman and several other great bush planes after all!

At first I was thinking why not do every single airport in the country, but there are many that wouldn't be of great interest, plus some areas of the country aren't well suited to bush or cargo flying either.

Anyways I still want to cover a lot of area in Canada, we have plenty of wilderness! So if anyone is interested in helping out - please post here and we'll get a start on it :D

I will post all updates in this thread as well - including the files.

  6. I finished another task that I had to get done ASAP so now I have a bit more time for area files. I'm working on the Canadian Rocky Mountains right now - it will be released in parts - the first part should be done by tonight covering 175,000 square nm's again (the size of a Canadian VFR Navigation Chart / VNC) - centered around the Prince George area.

This region is a bush pilots dream! Towering mountains and deep river valleys everywhere!

    *BIG STRETCH*

    Ok back to work.

  7. Alright here it is - the pictures show the basic steps for the cargo area.

A cargo area is the location at one airport where the cones, lights and cargo will appear. An area file is a collection of cargo areas.

So you start off creating a new area file - then do the first cargo area at an airport. Then you move to the next airport (via the FS2004 go to airport menu) and create the next cargo file - placing it in the same area file as the last one (just select it in the first step).

I hope that explains it. :)
