Thanks!
I held back because of the price, but they dropped the price for 3 since 4 was out so I went for it. The shipping was insanely fast - ordred it yesterday at 12pm my time, was at my door 10:30am this morning - and I live about an hour from Toronto, while Naturalpoint is based in Portland! UPS rules lol.

hello, I just picked up Track IR 3 pro with the vector expansion, pretty cool but certainly takes some getting used to (esp to not hit the bloody hat switch lol).
I'm just wondering what settings people use for the various axis?

I wish Computer Pilot would allow you to subscribe to a PDF version of the magazine you download online at a much cheaper rate than the printed one. At the current prices it would cost more to subscribe to it than it does for me to subscribe to both Flying and Canadian Aviator combined, both of which are quite a bit larger than Computer Pilot, I just can't justify the price for myself.

I can cover northern Quebec (Ungava, Hudson and James Bay coasts, La Grande etc.) if you want to cover the southern and central parts. Or if you want to do all of it that's fine too, I'll be working on the northern territories before Quebec so it would be some time before I get there..

On my flight last night I was parked at Prince George, and had an assignment to pick up cargo from Quesnel, and bring it up to Prince George. The timer started as I left, but I had enough time for both legs and was only 4 mins late - so it seems to account for the first leg too - though it was a short flight so perhaps the 20% was enough for this one, but not enough for a longer flight.

Thanks Peter!

Sounds great Tom! I finished up the Rocky Mountains file yesterday, I'll probably work on the Yukon next.
-
No problem! Just a note - my files are for the default airports, I have to have Holger's sceneries disabled for a beta I'm on right now - so you may need to add special addon cargo files for any airports moved in Holgers enhancements.
-
Perhaps there could be separate "Military" cargo areas? (Would love to put my C130 to use hauling some humanitarian supplies as well).
-
This FSCargo area file includes 68 airports throughout British Columbia
and Alberta, all in the Rocky Mountains area. A few good places to start off
from are Prince George (CYXS), Kelowna (CYLW) and Kamloops (CYKA).
Enjoy!

Personally I like the random aspect, if you get to choose everything about the flight it would take away from the fun for me.
-
Perhaps just an option "start at current airport" would be the easiest way to do that - have a checkbox for that on the assignment generator?
-
Wish I thought of this earlier - but with each area file perhaps have a "home base" designated so users unfamiliar with the area covered can at least have a starting point.
-
Hey Phil, is there any chance the Misty Moorings team could bundle up all the teams sceneries that have FSCargo areas into one package, perhaps with an autoinstaller?

I have the day off tomorrow so hopefully I can finish the Rocky Mountains areas. No rush on this though, need some time to actually fly too
-
Actually that's a good point Tom - Also I considered the fact that not all areas would be really suited to "bush" flying, or cargo in general. I live in Southern Ontario and the only cargo flying here is for DHL or Fedex in rather large planes.
Perhaps we could just make this project still Canada wide, but focusing on good spots for flying, and omitting some airports that wouldn't be of interest.
Instead of jumping out east perhaps I will continue with some areas out west in BC - finish up my Rocky Mountains areas plus do some areas up north first if you want to handle the Maratime provinces.

I should have the Rockies done by tomorrow.

Would anyone else be interested in helping me create cargo areas covering various sections of Canada? This is the birthplace of bushflying, and the nation that brought you the Beaver, Otter, Twin Otter, Bush Hawk, Canuck, Norseman and several other great bush planes after all!
At first I was thinking why not do every single airport in the country, but there are many that wouldn't be of great interest, plus some areas of the country aren't well suited to bush or cargo flying either.
Anyways I still want to cover a lot of area in Canada, we have plenty of wilderness! So if anyone is interested in helping out - please post here and we'll get a start on it :D
I will post all updates in this thread as well - including the files.

Right now I'm doing bits and pieces of it. After I get this first part of the Rockies done I think I will do all of the Canadian Territories which cover the far north - Yukon, The Northwest Territories and Nunavut (not all that many airports up there so it won't take too long).
-
I finished another task that I had to get done ASAP so now I have a bit more time for area files. I'm working on the Canadian Rocky Mountains right now - it will be released in parts - the first part should be done by tonight covering 175,000 square nm's again (the size of a Canadian VFR Navigation Chart / VNC) - centered around the Prince George area.
This region is a bush pilots dream! Towering mountains and deep river valleys everywhere!
*BIG STRETCH*
Ok back to work.

Alright here it is - the pictures show the basic steps for the cargo area.
A cargo area is the location at one airport where the cones, lights and cargo will appear. An area file is a collection of cargo areas.
So you start off creating a new area file - then do the first cargo area at an airport. Then you move to the next airport (via the FS2004 go to airport menu) and create the next cargo file - placing it in the same area file as the last one (just select it in the first step).
I hope that explains it. :)

Sounds good! I'll probably do the Yukon tomorrow
