  1. I'm holding off removing Totem Bight for now, It is the perfect "home base" for the area.

I believe it's just too many objects in the area causing the problem for me, if there were less trees and signs etc. it would probably solve the issue on my end. I get the same issue with most other addon sceneries, only georenders work nicely for me without killing framerates (though Emma is a bit hard on it with all in view).

  2. Well I did more testing, this time to see if the Misty Moorings scenery effected framerates in the general Ketchikan area as someone mentioned it slowed their system down even away from the Totem Blight scenery. I did the same flight from PAKT runway 11 to Coho Cove in the Aerosoft Beaver. I also tested with different AA and AF settings.

The one thing I noticed on each flight is that after taking off and turning towards the harbour, and facing the boat harbour, framerates would dip to 15 fps or so, then go back up to 25 or so, I assume it was loading a texture or some objects. It happened every flight no matter what the setting.

    Here's my results...

    Misty Moorings installed 2xAA 2xAF - 29.99 FPS

    Misty Moorings uninstalled 2xAA 2xAF - 32.30 FPS

    Misty Moorings uninstalled 4xAA 8xAF - 30.72 FPS

    Misty Moorings installed 4xAA 8xAF - 31.64 FPS

The conclusion? Well Misty Moorings obviously doesn't effect my framerates in the Ketchikan Harbour area, nor does my AA and AF settings so it's not an "overhead" situation. My framerate problems with the scenery are just the Totem Blight buildings and objects itself when visible at close range.

Also I noticed the one AI Beaver has an 1100 KB texture folder, which is a bit heavy for AI for me! By comparison the AI Cub has a 68 KB texture folder. I have the float traffic disabled for now but I'll probably enable it and do the same flight as above to see what effects it has, but it's almost 1AM and I have to go to work at 8am LOL.

  3. Hello Phil. I tried enabling and disabling the traffic. At PAKT it took framerates from 40 fps to about 32 or 33, so still not a huge hit, but I think the combination at Totem Bight with everything is what does it. But ya it is no more than other addon scenery, but that's why I don't use much addon scenery asside from the Georenders. I just prefer higher framerates where others don't mind lower I guess.

But yes it's definately Totem Bight that's doing it, when I'm there if I look away from the lodge I get 38 or so fps, when I look at it 15 or so, quite the difference. Looking at the textures I doubt it's that so I guess perhaps it's just too many polygons? I'm going to try lowering my AA and AF to see if that helps. Either way I'll probably live with the drop as it's only in the immediate area of Totem Bight and not the entire area, and the Misty Moorings scenery is too nice to miss out on! But if someone could do a "light" version by just deleting out some objects for those who prefer a bit less detail for more framerates that would be very cool, but understandable if you don't wish to as well.

Either way again thanks for the great sceneries, the AI traffic, the great charters and many other addons you have provided to make Misty Fjords even better!

  4. Alright I tried all the combinations with the same result.

Totem Bight drops my fps whether the Christmas lights are enabled or not. I tried removing the FSE files and that did not make a difference.

Is there any chance we could get a "light" version of the scenery with less trees and signs, and just the buildings and docks with just a couple trees?

I know this is a lot to ask, and I hope to not appear ungratefull because you guys have put a LOT of effort into this and the charters which I really appreciate. I just get this at the Totem Bight scenery and not the Cannery or other ones.

By the way, are the only people getting this Radeon 9800 owners like me?

Also this is how my scenery is setup...

    Misty Fjords Scenery

    Misty Fjords Landclass

    Misty Moorings

    Is that correct?

  5. There is a great utility called Screenshooter version 1.6 avialable at Flightsim.com (Be aware there are tonnes of screenshooter programs with the same name floating around, but this version seems best for FS9). It can cut off extra monitors, it can automatically resize and save the files as you fly. Very handy.

  6. I have the same issues with many addon sceneries, including Totem Bight, which is a shame because I really do like it. I get a drop from 25 down to 16-18 when the Totem Bight lodge and hanger are in view, my system specs are...

    AMD 2600+

    768mb's DDR Ram

    Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb

    Creative Soundblaster Audigy

I certainly don't want to appear unthankful. The Misty Moorings scenery and AI is fantastic, just seems the lodge and hanger are hard on FPS. But so far I'm probably going to just deal with the slight drop for the added scenery.

  7. I would like to suggest that the Misty Moorings files perhaps be uploaded to flightsim.com, for one simple reason, so we can vote for it in the flightsim.com monthly contest to get you guys the developers award you deserve! (and we can win free stuff at the same time  )

  8. I know there is a texture set that makes lakes and rivers appear frozen for the whole world (including tropical areas I believe lol). But it does not make them landable. I believe you can get specially modified ski planes that will land on water as if it were ice. I don't have any of those addons though, just recall reading about them on the forums.
