  1. Only when you do it properly (i.e. ALSO via the Library function and RESTART FS again), will the (changed) data from the NEW cfg be copied to the regular one

This is exactly what I did do - removed it in the scenery library and restarted FS, it reconfigured the scenery files as usual, but it just came back. Removing the New and old files were the only way I was able to get it to stay off, very strange.

  2. I figured it out - there were two files in the directory one called "NEWScenery.cfg" and another "OLDScenery.cfg". By removing those files it stopped coming back - now to reinstall (and manually add it this time!).

By the way I watched those videos on Harvey, plus look at the weathercam regularly (They need to angle it better so the sky isn't so distorted from the sun lol) - it amazes me how well you modelled this airfield and area - and not kill framerates too! It's also very nicely central to all the Georenders too - my new base of operations :D

  3. I have to uninstall Harvey because for some reason the buildings at Harvey disappeared, everything else was there. Anyways I went to the scenery library to make sure the entry was removedbut there were two of them! So I deleted them .... they came backI deleted itit came back. Huuuuh? Ok I go to the scenery.cfg file in notepad, delete the entry, the bloody thing comes back next time I startup Flightsim!

I've had this once before with the My Traffic V2 afcad files - the program that adds the entry was horribly flawed and a total pain in the arse .. .seems to be the same deal with this and it's more than a little irritating. I want to reinstall Harvey - but I don't want to have all these multiple scenery entries (which may very well be why the buildings disappear). Where is the program that adds these files and why does it keep adding another entry in? When I reinstall I will just tell it I'll add the entry myself.

  4. Hello Jon, thanks for the answer. I'm not the one making the program, so I do not know what program he is using. But if FSUIPC just outputs the clear text then it should be fine. I have never seen a ' in an aircraft title before either, the aircraft is made by Flight Factory Simulations, fun little thing too.

I'll forward this info to Marty - the guy making the program, thanks again!

  5. Hello Peter,

I'm helping Marty Bochane out with adding aircraft to the FSEconomy system. FSeconomy is basically a virtual GA world where you rent planes and find jobs on the website, and then through a small program that interfaces via FSUIPC interacts directly with flightsim. FSEconomy uses the aircraft's title field through FSUPIC to identify the aircraft.

I'm trying to add the Flight Factory Simulations Van's RV-7 to FSeconomy, but for some reason the test aircraft function (in the FSEconomy application which uses the aircraft title through FSUIPC to identify an aircraft) did not work. So I looked at the aircraft.cfg file for something odd about the title. I figured it out, here is an example of how it's aircraft.cfg title field looks like.

    [fltsim.0]

    title=Van's RV-7

I tried removing that ' from the title making it Vans RV-7 and sure enough it worked. So my question is; Is the FSeconomy program having a problem with ' in the title, or is it FSUIPC that is. I'm sending this to both Marty of FSEconomy and Pete of FSUIPC to get this figured out ASAP.

The problem is even if we got all the users to get rid of the ' in the titles - there is a dynamic aspect of this aircraft that I believe will edit the Aircraft.cfg file, so doing so may damage the full features (maintenance, aircraft gets dirty with time etc.). In that case I would have to talk to the FFS team which I will.

Anyways I'd love to get this plane added to FSEconomy but it looks like we have this obstacle to overcome first.

So if either of you guys could give me some input on this that would be great!

  6. Let me know if that keeps happening, it shouldn't, that is a bit strange. By the way, you won't be able to afford a plane right away, well maybe a Cub or a 152 with a full loan, but nothing else, it will take a bit of flying first.

  7. I just came across this simply amazing site / system / program / addon. It is a total blast, it really helps in finding interesting places to visit, and adds a whole new aspect to general aviation flightsimming, description is below - you can check this out at http://www.fseconomy.com

FS Economy is an addon for MS Flight

    Simulator that adds various economical

    aspects to flying.

With FS Economy, you are given real-

    world flight economics through aircraft

rentals that cost you money and 'job's'

that create a source of revenue. If you

are successful, you can even 'buy' your

    own aircraft someday.

Your account at FS Economy is kept

current through a small utility on your

PC that interacts with Flight Simulator.

Simply start the application, log in and

begin your career as a charter pilot.

The world of FS Economy is filled with

aircraft of various makes and models.

    These aircraft are persistent and

    accumulate engine time when used.

Aircraft can only be flown by one pilot

at the same time and are only available

at the location that they were last flown to.

    Every airport generate assignments, which

    are available to everybody. Multiple

    assignments can be flown simultaneously

and assignments can be locked for later use.

Assignments may also be allocated by

Flight groups (such as Virtual Airlines),

so pilots that are a member of the flight

    group can fly them.

FS Economy is free to use!

Hope you enjoy it as much as I do! One thing though, you won't be able to fly from Emma field itself as it's not a real world airport and therefore not in the database, however all of the other georenders are included.

  9. Does anyone know where I can get a full listing of average rental prices for different general aviation aircraft in the US? I can find the prices on FBO sites, but I'm more looking for an overall "master list" of GA aircraft rental prices.

I would greatly appreciate it, thanks!

  11. Hi there!

I was wondering, what could be that bad on the beaver, when simflight.com tested it and said it is an excellent product?

    http://www.simflight.com/modules.php?nae&sid=5339

Found some other postive reviews, too!

So whats wrong? Were you unable to install Beaver in the right way?

atm I'm still thinking that I'll buy that product...

    greetz

    jobe

I have had no problem with the Beaver myself, it's one of my favourite aircraft. The main complaints with it are that the Virtual Cockpit is not detailed enough, but I think it looks fine for me, this is a pretty simple bush plane and if you see a real panel, it's not all that flashy. Overall the product offers a massive amount of variety and is a lot of fun. Version 1.50 upgrades the VC's and adds a modern VC option as well.

  12. The weather out here in Southern Ontario has been a bit wierd this week. Wednesday we had freezing rain, then on Thursday it was +15C !!!!! It felt like April. Then we had heavy rain and thunderstorms (Yes, thunderstorms in January, really messed up lol) which switched to snow as the tempurature dropped 25 degrees in 8 hours or so to -10C, what a mess. But overall we haven't had too much snow in my area, I'd say just around average for this time of the year. The weather is back to normal -9C with flurries.

  13. LOL good point Holger, I guess it is a bit hypocritical to post a rant post, complaining about rant posts. I didn't mean to make a generalization of everyone here, but rather that there are more and more "rants" appearing. I had a bad experience previously that is probably fueling this opinion though.

  14. This forum seems to have turned from sharing experiences flying around misty to a rant board, everything is "this thing sucks because" etc. I've almost given up reading here, I thought the premise was to share our flying around misty, not get in stupid arguments over stuff. Perhaps people can start writing about positive experiences instead of only the negative ones.

  15. Personally I don't mind Aerosofts approach, since I'm impatient and hate waiting lol. Their Beaver and Supercub are two of my favourite planes for FS9. I really look forward to the Beech 45 now too. But I don't mind beta testing so a few bugs on release don't bother me.

The Supercub was pretty buggy straight out on release, but that's because people (including some from here) begged for it's release before Christmas, so Aerosoft did it, listing right away there were some things to be sorted out. There were problems getting the beta versions out to the testers, and none of the betas showed those wierd shaking problems. Either way the 1.10 update solved most issues for me. As for their support award, considering an update was released on Christmas Day says enough for me.

Either way I think Aerosoft makes great planes. If you want to avoid the bugs, just wait a couple of weeks after release before checking it out. Oh and there is an update for the Beaver coming.

  16. Doesn't it use the default GPS? The only reason it would turn off is a battery failure, be sure that the generator is on. As for the heading keep in mind the GPS shows track, not heading, so if you have a strong crosswind the GPS and your direction indicator won't show the same thing, it's confused me before lol. Also make sure to set the DI from time to time too, taking into account magnetic variation as shown on the chart for the compass.

  17. Though there were some hiccups with the initial release, version 1.10 is vastly improved and eliminates most bugs. I'm not a "visual person", I really don't care about small imperfections that appear at high zooms, I just like a VC that feels like a real plane and looks worked in, and this VC certainly does the job. I find the VC on the supercub much more "lively" than the Beaver, and it has excellent visibility especially out front since the noze is so narrow.

The points Chris makes about the model are present in 1.10, except I couldn't recreate the cowling issue. Was that taken with Activecamera's external walkaround view? I find you can get errors like that with AC's external view sometimes. Personally the "chunky" polygons don't bother me, since you only see them really zoomed in.

This aircraft is a total blast to fly I must say. It can land and takeoff in a parking lot I swear lol. The avionics are modern, simple, and framefriendly. One great feature is that if you click on any of the gauges in the VC a full size 512x512 popup gauge will appear, just click on it to close again. The engine sounds are quite nice, seem to be the correct tone but I've never heard a supercub so it's just a guess based on the type of engine.

Overall I'd say Aerosoft took what they learned making the Beaver, what users said after and made a great product out of the supercub. The VC is certainly everything you could ask for IMO, the side window on the wheels version slides open, and the door can be opened in flight for a good view like the default cub. The J3 is my favourite default aircraft, and the Aerosoft Supercub has all the fun of the J3, plus a decent cruise speed and much higher ceiling (had it up to 15,500 feet and still climbing). One thing I really like about Aerosofts aircraft is that you get great framerates, and the Supercub is no exception.

If you enjoy the Beaver, want a simple aircraft that's a lot of fun to fly, and don't mind some very minor graphical issues it's certainly worth purchasing.

This is just my opinion. If yours differs from it, feel free to post that, but again it's just my opinion. Please don't send me private messages if you have an issue with my opinion. Any private messages sent to me concering my opinion or otherwise harrassing me will be posted in a public thread and if harrassing in nature forwarded to moderators.

  18. Indeed I'd like to see more civilian Supercub repaints, but they will be on the way soon after the update and paint kit I'm sure. They are considering adding more shine, but don't want too much, this plane is covered in fabric, not metal so it should be a bit more dull looking.

As for the Porter, I tried the DXT3 textures, and even converted everything to DXT3 and it still didn't help. I'm pretty picky about performance though, just not for me I guess.

  19. I have all the planes mentioned so far, and the super cub, though new is certainly my favourite. Looks great (keep in mind it's an old fabric plane!) and it flies wonderfully, can go anywhere the others can and more. The VC is great and it just seems to have a great character (yes fs planes can have character ) Oh and oil use is modelled, you have to check between flights and top it up or she'll run out (Supercubs are well known for guzzling oil).

The most important thing, and the reason I like the Aerosoft Beaver and Supercub over the FSD Porter and Realair Scout is that the aerosoft planes run far smoother, take up far less resources. For me having better framerates and a smoother running sim is far more important than eye candy. The Porter ran like crap for me (AMD 2600, Radeon 9800 pro, 768mb DDR 333 Ram) and I actually uninstalled it. Good thing is with the 2 for 1 deal I got the Commander which I really like, so doesn't bother me. The real air scout was a bit hard on the system for me in the VC, not nearly so as the porter though.

Different preferences I guess, but the Super Cub is the clear winner for me. There will be an update within a day or so for it adding more models and fixing a couple bugs btw. But ya I like the Super Cub because it's pure fun, simple, and takes no hit on performance at all, which are my preferences for a bush plane.

  20. There are a couple issues mentioned in the manual that will be addressed shortly, including the shaking. People begged for it for Christmas, so they gave it to us, with a couple glitches and all.

Mathijs did a LOT (including a very long drive!) to get this one out before Christmas so I think we should be thankful we have it. I'm sure Aerosoft will fix the little issues right after Christmas.
