I'm game.
I'm rather suprised FSD did not include one considering the Swiss designed them with Alpine operating in mind.
-
After testing at other airports, this does occur earlier in the night as well.
Perhaps I should try using an Airport Environment upgrade that would change runway and taxi textures?
-
I think I got the d/l straightened out. I won't be able to install it until after the new year though.
So, do those who use a yoke switch back to a stick for this plane, or do you enjoy using the yoke more despite seeing the stick in VC?
-
Well....the download is turning out to be a bit of a nightmare. The purchase process went fine, but then when I tried to download, it kept giving me fragmented files. The d/l would start out normal, then cut itself short giving me a file size of 253kb.
I tried d/ling from other sites and it went just fine. Now I can't get back to the FSD download link and have to email them for another.... Was hoping to get this today since the holiday is tomorrow. I'm not going to be able to deal with this until next monday now.

Well, the purchase was made and it is the Porter!
Thanks for all your help and I can't wait to grab your liveries Dominque!
-
That is indeed better looking in the update. Even though not as nicely rendered as the Porter, I love the "bush plane feel" of the Beaver.
I know FSD does well with their flight models. I'm assuming the Beaver's is nice since nobody has mentioned it either way.
-
If I go with the FSD deal, the second plane would probably be the Aerostar because it's one of the more recent released and I already have the Cheyenne. (if I didn't already have a payware twin, this would have been a no-brainer)
Thanks for posting the nice screenies, they really help with comparison.
-
That VC looks amazing. Is everything clickable and are framerates tolerable when in vc?
The variety of models and liveries is what appealed to me about the Beaver.
-
If it wasn't for the 2 for 1 deal that FSD is offering, I would probably lean towards purchasing the Beaver. But...
Is the Aerosoft Beaver good enough to justify a purchase over the Porter, even with the deal available? Most videos and screenies of Misty seen to be in the Beaver, so maybe it is.

Nice! I got the 196 for xmas today! I won't get in the air with until I'm back down in Florida though.
I can't get a signal inside a house, is that normal?
-
For IFR flight, 2d is a must for me. Otherwise, I'm in VC the whole time. So, I need both :)
-
Great pictures! Your image quality looks really good. Did you film the movie with the same camera that took the pictures? Would you mind sharing the camera you used?
-
I believe he's referring to the ability when using Active Camera to "move" about the VC.
-
Unfortunately, I don't own it yet. I'm leaving for the holidays and won't be back until post new years, so I don't plan on getting it until then. I was hoping to look at maps and do some flight planning while I was gone :)

Oooh, that cub should do real nice.
Thanks!

What is your favorite freeware float? (single or multiengine)
The question is inevitable because so is my purchase of Misty Fjords and my subsequent lack of money, hence the freeware requirement :) (I have the excellent freeware Maule)

I read it covers 22,000 square miles and the lat, long coordinates, but I don't have an accurate map to depict the coverage area using those.
Can someone provide N-S-E-W boundaries using landmarks?
For example: As far west as the pacific, as far north as the Wrangell Mts., south to Prince Rupert, east to etc., etc.
Or if someone has a zoomed out coverage area like FSGenesis provides on their website, that would be great too.
Thanks
(I accidently posted this in support too. Probably more traffic here)

Got this error message:

Appreciate you trying though :)

Thanks for the help Francois. I don't think the textures were ever "blurry", it was just the line separating them so clearly highlighted the changeover so much. (looking at FSAddon's screenies helped me figure that out) When I uninstalled everything but KORS, the surrounding tiles had the same definition, but the transition from the super sharp tile at KORS to regular surrounding landclass tiles was much smoother. You can see the proper blending in the other parts of the pic I posted previously.

Anyone else tested this to same results?
-
Great shots. My favorite is the one on about 1 mile final with RVR very low.
-
Anyone else have the problem that when blackened night sky is enabled, the runway textures black out as well. The lights still show, but no runway markings, just a black strip.
**This only occurs after 12-12:30 at night**
Is there a fix or workaround for this?

Update: When I removed the payware mesh, the "line" separating the two texture sets seen in the 2nd picture went away. So I can live with that line to get the better mesh, because I didn't even really notice it until the R-22 flight.
The dirt strip in the 1st picture remained the same. So I'm guessing that the definition (or lack thereof) is normal. However, if someone has better resolution of that same Piper Cub dirt strip at Orcas, please post.
Thanks for your help.

I think it is one of the first payware items every simmer should have.
