  1. Since posting the files this morning there have been over 200 downloads. . . .anything constructive (or otherwise, lol) that anyone can share? If you read the entire post on the download, you should know that there is a second file that adds the full AFCAD as well as a change to the scenery file that contains a few corrections and additions. That file has only been downloaded 50 times, so there are a bunch of you out there that don't have everything, lol.

Let me know what you think. . .if it's working or not. . .or if you found something that needs to be fixed or corrected.

    Thanks

  2. There's already been over 130 downloads of the initial download, so not bad for only being available for about 5 hours. Please make sure you get the second download as well since it contains the full AFCAD file with all the taxi lines, parking spots, NDB and tower views. There have only been 25 downloads of that file so a lot of folks missing the full AFCAD.

  3. This zip is 46meg, so be prepared, lol. there are 3 object libraries included to ensure that everything I populated the field with will show up, but you may already have some of these if you have been collecting scenery addons for any length of time, so check before you install to eliminate any duplications. There is a readme with the package, please read it, lol. If you enjoy it, great, if you don't, that's fine too. I just wanted to offer something for the time being until the "real" EmmaX is released. Enjoy!!

Ok, I knew this would happen. . . .I failed to notice that I hadn't really included the AFCAD file, lol and I made one correction/addition in the scenery file. . .soooooo. . .unzip this small file (two bgl's) and place them in the Emma Field/Scenery folder and overwrite when asked.

This will add parking spaces, taxi lines and an NDB (Freq. 330.0) to the field. In the scenery file, I added an NDB antenna and moved a few airplanes.

  4. Thanks Gary,

Like I said, nothing special. There are so many things I would like to do. . .things I can visualize in my head but I have no idea how to get there from here, lol. I'd love to spend a week or two looking over the shoulder of Bill or Holger, just to soak up as much of their vast knowledge as possible, lol.

I'll try to finish this and get it posted tomorrow.

  5. I've done a quick Emma Field for FSX. Partly because it's good practice as I try to learn more about scenery design and partly so that I had some place else in that area to set down while flying. It's nothing special, it probably isn't situated where it's actually supposed to be, but it's home for now. I have a few more little things to work on and then I'll post it for download.

  6. It appears that the Seabee that Jun posted in here ages ago has disappeared from the PAI Website. Did anyone download that during that time period (I did and lost it in a HDD crash) and still have the original zipfile that they can post for me?

    Thanks!

  7. Hi Ed

    fsh is 64.22.78.67

    port 23477

Well, the ability to fly online was appealing, however flying in an area (New Tongass FSX) and not having that scenery makes it a waste really, that's why I dropped off. The new scenery is fantastic I have to admit (I've looked over the screenshots), but too pricey for my taste. Flying with a group you can't see and landing at airstrips/rwy's/etc that aren't available to you is not very interesting. I'll keep checking back from time to time and if there's a flight somewhere with basic FSX scenery I'll try to hop on.

    Take Care.

  8. Hi

Just to let you know there are a few of us diehards still flying on the Emma multi-player site on a daily bases.

We are on line around 1300-1400 cst most days and are flying all different areas. we are always glad to have others join us.

    :D

That's good to know Dobie. I've lost track of what MP Site Emma is using now. Can you post the IP?

  9. . . . .Cheer up, Ed... some here would say it's just the lag between Emma Field "versions" again (...but without the "reconstruction project" this time) ! :P

However, it's true that EFFC Forum activity is especially low right now, as has been seen here during the Summer months for the last several years.

    Hope this helps! :D

    GaryGB

    Ahh, the supreme optimist, lol.

I would love to see Emma rise from the ashes and be viable again, but there is much work to be done if that's to ever happen. I'm not really speaking of design work either. . . .more in the way of PR work I would think. My guess is that if you took a general poll of Flight Sim enthusiasts on a neutral website (if there is such a thing) you'd find that the majority would speak of Emma in the past tense or at the very least as an addon they have installed but seldom visit.

I understand that what's happening with EmmaX is a great undertaking and that because of that it takes huge amounts of man hours to build, test, tweak, modify and test again, even before it goes to beta and I know that those who are involved with the project are doing a bang up job and I salute them for their efforts. The fact remains that the huge following that Emma Field once enjoyed is gone, you have only to look at how "popular" the Emma forum is to realize how far Emma has fallen. They stuck around as long as possible for the anticipated EmmaX, but the job of getting a new following is going to have to get into high gear. . .it will not be an easy task.

  10. I don't think you'll find much happening here anymore Tepic. There was a server posted for a so-called Victory Flight earlier this year, but I wasn't part of it and I don't think anyone really flies much here.

  11. panel_shot.jpg

With my limited abilities, this is the finished panel. . .2D only. . .I'm no VC designer and I doubt OpenSky is going to release source code to anyone to do a VC anyway. It works great since it allows an almost unobstructed view and supplies everything you need including AP, all switches and radios. I just need to add a GPS popup and that should do it. . .there's already a radio stack popup.

  12. Seabee.jpg

Something like this works great.I like the model overall, and considering it's really modeled for AI use, it's has nice detail to it. I will have to get rid of the smiley dude in the cockpit though and find another face. . .nothing against the black dude, but he's just a bit too happy for my taste. If anyone is interested in this panel let me know as I still have to do knockouts for the gauges and switches so there's some dimension to them. I also want to add some screws around the panel as well, so it's not finished, just posted to see the reaction.

  13. I tried to find a good cockpit shot and did find one over at Airliners.net, but after doing the bitmap, laying in a full set of gauges/radios/switches, etc via FSPanel Studio, I discovered that based on the viewpoint currently set (I have no idea how to correct that), the 2d panel I made up obliterates any forward view. . .actually the only thing that would fit (and this wouldn't look too bad really) would be a mini panel much like what Realair did for their Spitfire. . . .a single row of primary gauges and switches on a nice background.

  14. Any eye-candy coming? :P

Sounds good, but after the Victory Flight scenery problems with some flying FS9 and some flying FSX and rwys and AFCADS in different spots, It's more of a headache than it's worth for a 90 minute flight really. That's just my 2 cents worth tho.

  15. In case anyone has forgotten, especially those with wives, May 10th is Mother's Day. . .probably why most folks are opting for Saturday, rather than Sunday. If you intend to keep flying beyond May 10th with all your fingers and toes intact, I would suggest the Saturday flight rather than Sunday, lol. I'll be there on Saturday as well.

  16. I wouldn't think the Emma Installation has anything to do with the Georender sceneries. . .they're independent of each other. I would look at the scenery library and be sure the scenery is active for one thing. Are you running any exotic terrain mesh that might conflict with it? Beyond that, I would uninstall the scenery, be sure any reference to it is removed from the FS9 directory and, if you are comfortable with it, search the registry (regedit) for references to Georender2 and remove those as well, then reinstall.

I have all the Georender series installed and never had any problem of this type, so those suggestions are all I can offer.

  17. Gary, I never had Emma 2002. By the time I came on the scene at Lago, they were past that point. I purchased Lago 2004 and when asked if I was a 2002 Emma Field user I checked no and it went on with the installation. Because of that I only have an installation code for the 2004 version which apparently is no longer valid. As I said, I'm not interested in pursuing this any further. I bought the scenery, I got enjoyment from it now it's been dropped (more or less) and the install code is invalid. . .I'm fine with that.

    Thanks for the assist.

  18. This whole mess has taken on a sinister shroud and one I had not expected nor ever intended. My references to a good Samaritan have caused him great harm and for no reason other than my untimely and ill conceived reference to his assistance. I downloaded the Emma Field 2004 patch which I was told (not by anyone connected with FSAddon, Lago or any other FS entity) was actually the full version. I used the installation code I was sent by Lago back in July of 2003 and it tells me it is not a valid code. At this point, for obvious reasons, I am done with anything related to getting Emma Field installed. I want nothing more to do with the politics of who owns what and who can and can not legitimately pass on files. Life is too short and none of this is worth the hassle quite honestly.

  19. Francois, I didn't purchase Emma Field from Simmarket, it was purchased from Lago years ago. Simmarket only entered the picture because I mentioned at some point that I downloaded a few of the Georender installation files from there a long time ago after Lago had gone away. There was a period of time, and I have no idea how or why, but I was able to direct download the Georender files from Simmarket, which would have been no use to me had I not had installation codes already. So from this point on, Simmarket is no longer part of the equation, they were simply a means to an end for a short period of time. . .the prime point of purchase for everything Emma and Georender was Lago and as such, anyone who can supply me with files, which I purchased or was given as gifts for services rendered back in the day at Lago, will be seen as a good Samaritan and nothing less. I hope this clears up any misconceptions or pointing of fingers for perceived wrongdoing as I see nothing amiss for what recently transpired concerning the Georender files.
