How are runway exits designated in Tower!2011
FeelThere_Vic replied to Avwriter's topic in ATC Simulators
It's a weighted system. It means it will always exit where the majority of the gates are. It will be reworked for Tower!3dPro. -
Gareth, Please read my previous reply. Tower!3DPro will have a fully overhauled runway system. It will even consider the gate for the arriving plane and will try to land on the closest runway. Vic

Gentlemen, First of all about T13D's power hungriness; it has a quality slider and sometimes I test it on a PC tablet without much problem (of course a rainy LAX at night can cause some fps drops.). However Sim Smith Design (a new partner) asked me to pass along his Facebook page and he would like to take requests about upcoming T!2011 airports. His Facebook page is at https://www.facebook.com/SimSmithDesign/ Thank you Vic

For T1Pro we plan to assign landing runways based on terminals and gates so the plane should land (if possible of course) to the closest runway of it's gate.

For Tower! Pro the simultanious runway system will be rewritten from scratch. In Tower!2011 we used a middle ground for it, but !Pro will be written in parallel aproaches in mind.

Large airports such as KATL has a so complex routing system we needed to add some limit into the path finding to make the calculation reasonable. While it looks easy for a human eye for a code too understand such a complex routing system its rather more difficult.

There is no such a limit within Tower

Folks, Let's not blame anyone here please :) We playtested Tower during our beta and the distributor is providing a great help for us with testing elements that we would've otherwise overlooked (typos, not easily to catch bugs, etc). We all are working hard to make it as bugfree as possible (please remember the release of our latest products they are virtually bug free even before the SPs and we would like to maintain this tradition). Please be just a little more patient and shortly we will announce the price and the date. In the meantime I try to sneak some screenshots here and Facebook of the game and about the first add-on airport. In fact let me take some requests :) Tell me what would you like to see from Tower and I'll do my best to capture it :) Another news: Nyerges Design is working pretty hard on Real Traffic for T!3D (or whatever they will call it). We already tested some of their schedule with some of their planes and I have to tell you it's pretty cool to see the airports filled with so many nicely looking 3D planes in so many different colors :) Vic

Played for a few hours, still 0 "successful takeoffs/landings"?
FeelThere_Vic replied to pinback's topic in ATC Simulators
Perhaps after Tower!3D and Tower!3DPro? :) -
New to Tracon 2012, one quick question...
FeelThere_Vic replied to pinback's topic in ATC Simulators
You can't fix it. It's coming from speech. -

Your product please? -
!Pro will have all the functions from !3D. We are not yet sure how's the mouse commands will be brought over so it is possible it will be ripped from !Pro. However all controlling functions should be moved over to !Pro and we also add a bunch of new commands to !Pro based on the wishlist you Folks provided back a few years ago and we also had our own list of features. Almost all requests made their ways. Airports will be compatible with both versions so one purchase will cover both Tower!3D and !Pro versions. Intersection takeoffs and routing (via) command will be available for Tower!3D as well as !Pro. !3D is a very functioning sim, please don't think it became an arcade game. We took away a limited number of commands that really needed speech and we couldn't figure out how to translate it into clicks. You will see all the familiar commands such as follow company, intersection takeoffs via, etc

Just a heads up; we heard that today they were able to find the problem and an update is coming soon.

Gentlemen, Thank you very much for your comments they are appreciated. With the release of Tower!2011 we believe we set the standard for voice recognition for atc products. However we received many requests from non English speaking customers to somehow make it compatible with mouse. With the feature list of Tower!3DPro we knew it right away it will be impossible to translate those commands to mouse clicks (typing them is OK but we wanted to have a mouse driven system) so we decided to split the development between two versions. Tower!3D is far from being a game; it received some of the features from the upcoming Pro version but we needed to rip some commands from the original Tower!2011 too to make sure it fits the mouse :) We spent a considerably time to balance the "gameplay" to make sure it wont be arcadish and it's still a simulator. Most of the team fell in love with this system, it's pretty fun and balanced. Even controlling at TIST will be interesting as we updated the schedule (thank you VERY much Dick!!!) and added even more local traffic. We also brought a feature from Pro so you will no longer have to wait for the first airplane to arrive or depart; the time will be advanced to the selected hour's first traffic. Obviously we can't give away all features yet but I try to answer them as much as I can :) Thank you Vic
