kenml Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 I just purchased A2A's brand new Piper Cub J-3 ( An outstanding sim by the way) and am having trouble setting the range of motion for the throttle control. I calibrate the joystick using throttle 1 and, using the CH THC, it will not pull the planes throttle control to idle. I then connected a Saitek Cyborg EVO and got the same results. Is there a way of adjusting the FSUIPC joystick calibration so the THC or joystick will move it to full idle. I'm running all of this in FSX and using FSUIPC4 version 4.520.

Yes, just follow the instructions for calibrating, step by step, in the user guide. You need to set the minimum throttle position in the calibration to some place a little away from the backstop of the throttle lever or rod so that you can be sure the resulting value reaches zero when you pull it back. For FS idle is always zero throttle. If your calibration produces an output value of 0 that's as good as it gets. Incidentally, 4.52 was superseded by 4.53 the week before last, and there is an update for that already in the Announcements above. Regards Pete
kenml Posted September 7, 2009 Author Report Posted September 7, 2009 Thanks Pete, Will get the update and recalibrate
Albrecht EDDV Posted September 9, 2009 Report Posted September 9, 2009 Hi Kenml, Hi Pete, I've the same troubles with the Cub. The throttle in the Cub is labeled with "Closed - 0 - Open". Joystick Calibration with Reverse - Idle - Max Range only brings the throttle in the Cub a little behind the "0"-Position in the middle. My only trick for the moment is to do in Axis Assignment define a special range (on the right section, Control sent when range entered): Throttle1 Decr with Checkbox (Controll to repeat) is marked. With this, I can get the Idle Position ("Closed"). But nothing between "Closed" and "0". Regards Albrecht

The Cub's throttle will go to closed but any movement will take it to the mid position. Will post something about this in the A2A forum.
Steve38 Posted September 13, 2009 Report Posted September 13, 2009 I had the same problem. The trick is not to assign it to throttle1. There is an axis just called throttle in FSUIPC. Use that one for the cub and it works fine. Steve
kenml Posted September 13, 2009 Author Report Posted September 13, 2009 Hey thanks Steve, Will give it a try.
