Problem with FSUIPC V4.955C and Prepare3d v2

Recommended Posts

I have prepare 3d v2 academic which was running well.  I yesterday I purchased WIDEFS7 and loaded FSUIPC4 V 4.955C.  I received an error “problem! Cannot edit the Prepar3d V3 DLL.xml file to activate FSUIPC”.

After the attempted to load FSUIPC I tried to run Prepare 3d and it would crash.  I uninstalled and reinstalled Prepare 3d and reinstalled FSUIPC V4.955C and am still getting the same message.

I am able to run PrePare3d now but FSUIPC is not on the dropdown menu anymore.

I am running windows 7

VRS superbug.

This is an install problem normally caused by the inability to find the Prepar3D.CFG file. Full details of what happened are in the FSUIPC4 Install.log file, which you can find either in the P3D Modules folder, or in the same place as you ran the Installer.

That cannot be anything to do with FSUIPC, because if it couldn't add itself to the DLL.XML file, it wouldn't even be loaded. FSUIPC touches nothing else but the DLL.XML and the files it places in the Modules folder which it creates itself.

What do you mean by "any more"? Are you saying you had installed it and had it working before? You just said this was all fresh "yesterday"?

Of course, if FSUIPC is not being loaded then it cannot add itself to the menu system.

Find the Install log and paste its contents into a message here. I'm out all day but I'll get to it when I return later this evening.

Find the Install log and paste its contents into a message here. I'm out all day but I'll get to it when I return later this evening.

I have built a F18 replica cockpit and have used FSUIPC to control all the devices on my Sim.  After reloading Prepare 3d I started and stopped the program.   I then reloaded FSUIPC i did get the message as stated above.  I hit OK and then it asked me if i would like to load FSUIPC and i selected both  FSUIPC and WideFS.  in put in the pass codes and the program finished.   I then started Prepare3d and looked for FSUIPC on the ADD-ON drop down tab the FSUIPC tab that is there is missing.   Yes I agree that FSUIPC did not load properly.

Best

Rick

here's your problem

Cannot edit the DLL.XML file to activate FSUIPC.

manually, it cannot find the directory your "Prepar3D.CFG for all users" is in
which is weird
because on my WIn7 computer the approriate DLL.XML is in the USER directory
P3D3 uses 2 DLL.XML

find the directory your
Prepar3D.cfg
is in
("c:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3" on my Win7 OS))

create or edit the
DLL.XML
in that directory

contents should be

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1252"?>

<SimBase.Document Type="Launch" version="1,0">
  <Descr>Launch</Descr>
  <Filename>dll.xml</Filename>
  <Disabled>False</Disabled>
  <Launch.ManualLoad>False</Launch.ManualLoad>
  <Launch.Addon>
        <Name>FSUIPC 4</Name>
        <Disabled>False</Disabled>
        <Path>Modules\FSUIPC4.dll</Path>
    </Launch.Addon>
</SimBase.Document>

attached DLL.XML
with only fsuipc reference

And a good job too, because you appear to be using P3D version 2.5 but the Registry says it is version 3. see this part of the Log:

You have registry entries for both versions 2 and 3 pointing to the same place, and version 3 being the more recent naturally FSUIPC installs for that! This part shows that in fact the Prepar3D.EXE file is version 2.5.

How did this mess get made? What did you do?

The only solution to the mess is to use the Registry Editor (RegEdit) to delete the key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3

Such a mix up will be certain to get other add-on installers  doing odd things too!

Hi Pete

I originally loaded V3 but found out V3 was not compatible with VRS superbug.  I uninstalled it and installed V2.  Everything ran fine and had no issues until I wanted to load widefs and that’s when the troubles started.

Sorry, what has WideFS got to do with it?

Evidently you did not uninstall v3 properly. And why on Earth did you install v3 into a folder called Prepar3D v2?

Yes, I gave you exactly the solution in my previous message. did you not read it?

I did read your suggestions and thanks for your help.   I did go to regedit and looked for

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Lockheed Martin\\ but did not find it.  I then looked in

HKEY_LOCAL_CURRRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Lockheed Martin and found the V2 and V3 in this location and deleted V3.

I then started Prepair3d and it crashed.  So I went back into the Regedit and Looked back a

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Lockheed Martin\  the Lockheed Martin folder was not here.  So I looked in folder Wow6432Node and found the Lockheed Martin folder and I removed V3 as well.  Still P3d would not load.

I went back and regedit and remove all the Lockheed Martin folders and reloaded the P3d.  I was then able to reload FSUIPC with no problems.   A big thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

  • 2 weeks later...

Good Evening,

 Mr. Pete Downson,

  I was working previously with Fsuipc 4.858 and few hour ago I access your website and foung out that was a newer version for Fsuipc. Immediately, I started to dowload it and after re-installing. I have FSUIPC4.key file with all password info on the following directory ... C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Modules but When I tried to reinstall Fsuipc and WideServer nothing happened and the key was not valid. I'm working know with the last version but no registered as previous one. What should I do ? Do I need a new key for both ?? Do I need to reprogram everything again ?

Looking forward your reply,

Best regards,

Sorry, if "nothing happened" how do you know you key was invalid? Please explain exactly what you mean, not your interpretation. The keys never change, and you never need to re-register when simply doing an update! All the update does is replace the DLL and the documentation.

Good Evening !!

  Mr. Pete Dowson,

  I updated the version successfuly but in the moment of Lod Displa show up, I marked the option "check existing registration" instead of pressing "not now".

  I have a file with both keys (directory standard), but I tried to put them more than 2 times without success. What should I do and how to proceed to activate FSUIPC and WIDE Server ??

I appreciatte your help as soon as possible cause without it, i cannot run the scripts to fly.

Looking forward your reply,

Best regards,

Alessandro Paixao
