My Observations

I thought it time I contributed to this forum to say of my observations regarding Tower 3D.. Firstly if anyone takes any notice of this thread this is my view as it stands at this moment.

I have played Tower 3D till gone midnight on quite a few occasions and to say that Tower 3D is quite a good game ( I wonder if game is the correct name ). The opening screen setup for the game is ok ( I have SP1 ) and the game itself runs ok.

You have probably guessed that not everything is rosey,  ( this is a saying in england, ie.not quite right).  I know that other people have said numerous things about Tower 3D so if I have written the same things I do apologize,

So here goes.  The Setup screen only allows the minimum of 50% trafic, I have this setup, Thats fine for the small 1 runway airports but not great for the larger ones, I have found that starting at KPHL on 50% there are far to many aircraft wanting to start to taxi followed by aircraft wanting to land.

Then after this initial phase has subsided I have the opportunity to see the planes in the terminal and landing  to enjoy the game more. This hectic start to the game In my opinion just needs to simmer down a bit.

I still cannot get any other voice other than a Female even on Random I am using Windows 7 carried out the usual voice setup but still nothing, on the Setup screen.

I have not found as yet a way to end the game other than pressing ESC. There are the usual references to moving the ADRIS and the other screens to another monitor and the not so good zoom effect at the end if the runways, The graphics could be better in as much the runway intersections don't line up correctly at times. As I have said this is my opinion and I hope that it helps this game to become a great game. I for one will be purchasing the Pro edition knowing that Feelthere will eventually put these few niggles to bed.

It's a personal taste. For users who think 50% traffic is still overwhelming we recommend playing on St. Thomas.

What else should we add?

Multi monitor is not supported in the current version of Tower!3D. It's not advertised or suggested at any ways.

Thank you

+1 on multi-monitor support.  It may not be advertised, but to the customer, it seems like a huge step backwards, since this capability was supported in Tower 2011.  I understand it is an issue with the engine, but nevertheless it seems bizarre to lose a feature that is so commonplace in most modern software applications.

My other frustration (really even bigger than multi-monitor), is the lack of visible landing lights on aircraft in the air.  It may seem like a small thing, but it forces the user to rely exclusively on the radar to track approaching aircraft until just moments before landing, which kills the immersion factor for me.  At a real airport, you can see the landing lights of approaching aircraft from several miles away, even in the daytime.  Is there a technical reason that this is not possible to do in Tower3D, or was it an oversight?

Thanks for the replies, I seem to have the impression that hard luck if you cannot manage 50% traffic at the major airports, The question is why have a start at 50%, and my observations of the 50% start is having far to much traffic at the start of the game then it seems to level out at something like 50%. May I ask if you have played this at the 50% start ,please let me know what you think . Is there to much going on at the start ? or am I destined for a lifetime at St Thomas.

Am I cheating if I use the "DELETE AIRPLANE" button? When I first started I was always using this a lot, especially for departing aircraft.  Arriving aircraft was never a problem, they were always spaced evenly. But now I just handle the departures at my leisure, but not too much leisure because I received a penalty for not handling the aircraft.  I do not remember how much time elapsed while the plane was waiting at the terminal.  But the good thing is that it never ran out of fuel.

Another alternative is to use the posted schedules.  For KLAX, KPHL and TIST, I think these were created to produce about 20-30 arrivals and departures per hour.

I believe this is the most recent link:

The archive should contain a folder called Extensions.
This folder will go in the:
C:\Program Files (x86)\FeelThere\Tower 3D
folder.

If you want the original schedules, then you can rename the Extensions folder to something like Extensions.NEW.

I have discovered that aircraft will wait quietly for 15 minutes before causing a penalty.  This includes waiting to taxi to a runway or taxi to a terminal.  If you instruct the plane to taxi to a runway, then tell it to "hold position", I have not incurred a penalty yet.

Ha ha ha!  Now that is what I call realism.  After all, airlines in the real world seem to use the same trick.  They push back on time, getting credit for an on-time departure, and then park somewhere for an hour and a half till a runway slot opens up.
