Hi Pete,

Two questions please:

Is there a way to access the FSUIPC tabs, like Key Presses or Buttons+Switches, to make changes without first having to load a flight?

When you use the Reload all buttons or Reload all keys features, is the complete FSUIPC.ini file reloaded so any direct edits made 'elsewhere' to the file will be updated as well?

Thx,

Al

Hi,

to make changes to FSUIPC before FS/ P3D has fully loaded can only be made in FSUIPC INI file, but of course not while it is loading. So only before FS/ P3D starts or after it has been fully started.

Reload all buttons will also reload all controller and axes in case of reassignments (joystick/ controller).

Reload all keys will reload all defined keys and also related macros.

Thanks for the info. Just to to clarify, I assume that, in general, editing changes made directly to the FSUIPC.ini after FSX has loaded will not "be in effect" until FSX is restarted (although perhaps something like an edited compound switch assignment might be immediately activated by a subsequent Reload all buttons operation).

Thx,

The settings in the [General] section are all related to initialisation of things done all the time in FSUIPC, and can only be changed when FSUIPC (and therefore FS) is not running.

All assignments, profiles and so on, can be modified in the INI file whilst FS is running, but you need to get them re-read, by using the Reload buttons -- there's one for each assignments type -- Buttons, Axes, Keys and Calibrations. For Profile changes you'd need to change aircraft to make it re-read the profile lists. Lua plug-ins can also be added into the Modules list and recognised on the next Reload press. The plug-ins themselves can be edited but if already running they would need "killing" and restarting before such changes took effect.

The only other part re-read whilst FS is running is the Traffic Limiter parameters section, which simply needs an entry into and an OK out of, the options dialogue.
