oldfowler Posted February 11, 2020 Report Posted February 11, 2020 (edited) 5 yrs ago my Friend purchased the following equipment and software. He never used it fully because the setup was difficult for him, I am trying to help him get it working. - Saitek Pro Flight simulator control panel and he has the Pro Flight Multi Panel for Flight Simulator 9920A installed in attached pic -Microsoft Flight Sim X 10.0.696370 (FSX-X-pack-20070926-142) - Pete Dowson Fsuipc4 (2068) module. While configuring the Fsuipc4 to work with his hardware we encountered a problem configuring the Flaps , the switch for this is on the Flight Multi Panel for Flight Simulator 9920A . The flaps work fine using the default configuration but when attempting to configure for FSUIPC the switch is not recognized when pressed. Please keep in mind the instructions for configuring FSUIPC 1st require we back up the config files and then delete all button/switch and joystick controls before beginning the configuration. We need help getting this piece working. Is there a bug? A fix? or a special configuration we require to get his hardware to interface with the FSUIPC4 software? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time. Shelly Fowler Edited February 11, 2020 by oldfowler
John Dowson Posted February 12, 2020 Report Posted February 12, 2020 Saitek panels don't work with FSUIPC as they are not registered in windows as standard joystick devices. You need to use either SPAD (freeware, available from http://fstools.weebly.com/download.html) or SPAD.next (payware, trial license available, from https://www.spadnext.com/home.html). Cheers, John

If you mean using SPAD to drive Saitek panels, then you really want SPAD support. SPAD is not one of our products, and I know nothing about it. John may know more however. I'm sure he'll respond within the next days if he does. Pete
John Dowson Posted February 24, 2020 Report Posted February 24, 2020 I use SPAD.next, not SPAD. You don't provide much detail on what you are using or what your problem is. If you can provide more info, I can possibly check here as I have the Saitek multi panel, although I don't have FSX, only FSX-SE. John
oldfowler Posted February 24, 2020 Author Report Posted February 24, 2020 I am sorry, I dont understand this equipment He has the following: - Saitek Pro Flight simulator control panel and he has the Pro Flight Multi Panel for Flight Simulator 9920A installed in attached pic (above) He has teh Saitek-Pro Flight Yoke and Throttle Quadrant Multi-Instrument Cockpit Panel Radio Panel Pro Flight Rudder Pedals TPM System Switch Panel - I think the instrument Panel is included... I will try to get to his house today and get a pic of his stuff -Microsoft Flight Sim X 10.0.696370 (FSX-X-pack-20070926-142) - Pete Dowson Fsuipc4 (2068) module. (I uninstalled this (deleted the .dll) once we know it was not what he needed)
John Dowson Posted February 24, 2020 Report Posted February 24, 2020 Its the software that you are using to drive the Saitek multi-panel that I am interested in - did you try SPAD or SPAD.next? Did you install the saitek drivers as well or not? Best not to, and uninstall if installed. I am not interested in a pic of his stuff - this won't help in his problem with the multi-panel. John
oldfowler Posted February 26, 2020 Author Report Posted February 26, 2020 We downloaded the SPAD ... wanted to find out if we could configure it before paying for the full version. I think the Saitek drivers are installed. He was able to use his controls some what (but not fully) before we started all this. John I have the ability to give you remote access to his machine so you can see whats what. I dont know enough about this ( I am a datacenter administrator) and I find all this confusing... Don is 88 yrs old and not clear on how it all works together. HE is more than willing to pay a resonable fee to someone who can get this software running correctly for him.
John Dowson Posted February 26, 2020 Report Posted February 26, 2020 I've not used SPAD before. When I get a chance over the next few days, I'll download it and take a look to see if I can get it to drive my multi-panel in FSX-SE and let you know. I recommend that you first uninstall any Saitek drivers or software. Also try SPAD.next - it is a different product to SPAD. SPAD is freeware and SPAD.next is payware, but you get a 14 day free trial license so I suggest you use that. Set-up in SPAD.next is also pretty straightforward and then are free profiles available for many aircraft. Also make sure that you have the latest version of FSUIPC4 installed (available from www.fsuipc.com). John
oldfowler Posted February 26, 2020 Author Report Posted February 26, 2020 ok.. thank you do i need to configure the FSUIPC4 per the 16 pages of instructions Don has downloaded or just install it? which of the Saitek programs do I remove? Installed SPAD.next 14day trial: And we are now at this page and unsure which profile to use so we will select FSUIPC for now and wait to hear which siatek programs to uninstall
John Dowson Posted February 26, 2020 Report Posted February 26, 2020 I downloaded SPAD, ran the installer, then ran the SPAD.exe. It recognised my switch and multi-panels without a problem. I then started FSX-SE, and loaded the Mooney Bravo. Tried the flaps switch on the multi-panel, and it operates the flaps without a problem. I therefore do not know what your issue is. It may be the Saitek drivers and/or software. As I said, best to remove these completely from your system. Btw, what aircraft are you using? Have you tried with different aircraft? John
oldfowler Posted February 26, 2020 Author Report Posted February 26, 2020 He is using the Cessna 172P Skyhawk. So I uninstalled ALL the Siatek stuff. I think its all working as expected. He will let me know if anything is not right. DO we need to set up a profile for his hardware or is it just gonna work right out of the box with default settings? So I also reran the the setup wizard and Disabled FSUIPC connection as the program was showing errors complaining about FSUIPC, SimConnect is enabled. Thank you soooooo much.. he is really very excited! IF all goes well the last part to configure is his Bip panel
John Dowson Posted February 27, 2020 Report Posted February 27, 2020 Good to know its now working. 10 hours ago, oldfowler said: DO we need to set up a profile for his hardware or is it just gonna work right out of the box with default settings? Profiles are for aircraft, so that you can have different assignments/settings for different aircraft. It pretty much works right out of the box if you load an appropriate profile for your aircraft. Still, always best to check the user manual! 10 hours ago, oldfowler said: So I also reran the the setup wizard and Disabled FSUIPC connection as the program was showing errors complaining about FSUIPC, SimConnect is enabled. Are you referring to the set-up wizard in SPAD.next? You can use SPAD.next with or without FSUIPC. You can run without if you don't need it. The original SPAD requires FSUIPC. Cheers, John
oldfowler Posted February 27, 2020 Author Report Posted February 27, 2020 Thank you so much for your guidance ! Its so rewarding to see him so happy and able to do something he has longed to do for 5+yrs!
John Dowson Posted February 27, 2020 Report Posted February 27, 2020 No problem - I'm glad his problem is finally resolved! Regards, John
