nantelp Posted August 30, 2021 Report Posted August 30, 2021 Hi, I am trying to configure my spoiler arm for the Aerosoft Airbus family to manage the speed brake using my PFC 2 jet quadrant see picture I have found a way by assigning a button on my joystick to arm/disarm the ground spoiler. But I am not able to configure the arm on my PFC to manage the speed brake arm. I have separated the arming of the ground spoiler from the speed break movement, is this ok? Any help would be appreciated Pierre Nantel

The calibration facilities for the spoiler/speed brake axis allows for a region to be set for the "ARM" action. It is rather futile trying to use a button to Arm it, as the FS/P3D spoiler axis includes the Arm action part way through the axis movement, and that area is unavoidable when moving away from full down to any raising of the spoilers. Try to calibrate the Arm position in the calibration to the area so marked on your lever. Pete

nantelp Posted August 31, 2021 Author Report Posted August 31, 2021 Hi Pete, I don't understand why it working with the PMDG 777 with this profile: [Profile] Created=02/03/2021 16:44:48 [Axes] RangeRepeatRate=10 0=0R,256,D,36,0,0,0 -{ DIRECT: SteeringTiller }- 1=16X,512,D,1,0,0,0 -{ DIRECT: Aileron }- 2=16Y,512,D,2,0,0,0 -{ DIRECT: Elevator }- 3=16R,512,D,3,0,0,0 -{ DIRECT: Rudder }- 4=17X,512,D,22,0,0,0 -{ DIRECT: Spoilers }- 5=17Z,512,D,9,0,0,0 -{ DIRECT: Throttle1 }- 6=17R,512,D,10,0,0,0 -{ DIRECT: Throttle2 }- 7=17V,512,F,68046,0,0,0 -{ TO SIM: AXIS_THROTTLE_REVERSER_SET }- [JoystickCalibration] AllowSuppressForPFCquad=Yes ExcludeThrottleSet=Yes ExcludeMixtureSet=Yes ExcludePropPitchSet=Yes SepRevsJetsOnly=No ApplyHeloTrim=No UseAxisControlsForNRZ=No FlapsSetControl=0 FlapDetents=No ReverserControl=66292 Reverser1Control=66422 Reverser2Control=66425 Reverser3Control=66428 Reverser4Control=66431 MaxThrottleForReverser=256 AileronTrimControl=66731 RudderTrimControl=66732 CowlFlaps1Control=66162 CowlFlaps2Control=66163 CowlFlaps3Control=66164 CowlFlaps4Control=66165 SteeringTillerControl=0 MaxSteerSpeed=60 RudderBlendLowest=1 Aileron=-9934,-903,-903,9417 Elevator=-12256,3483,3483,16125 Spoilers=-16380,16380/16 SteeringTiller=-16380,0,0,16380 Reverser1=-16380,16380 Rudder=-9418,-645,645,11739 Reverser=-16384,15867/2 [Buttons] 0=R16,16,C65607,0 -{ELEV_TRIM_DN}- 1=R16,17,C65615,0 -{ELEV_TRIM_UP}- But it will not work with the Aerosoft Airbus. aua668 Posted August 31, 2021 Report Posted August 31, 2021 Hi, I have no knowledge about the PMDG, but did you calibrate the spoiler axis: Spoilers=-16380,16380/16 My entry, where I have specified the range, which should control the spoiler, looks different to yours. And the range for arming the spoiler and for turning it off is also missing. Pete gave you already the hint to define this region for arming/disarming. Rgds Reinhard
nantelp Posted August 31, 2021 Author Report Posted August 31, 2021 hi Reinhard, Thank you for your reply, I don't know why but I miss your post. I think I understand what you are doing, would it be to much to ask, I would like to see a picture of your assignment screen in FSUIPC. 13 hours ago, aua668 said: 5=GX,256,D,22,0,0,0 -{ DIRECT: Spoilers }- This is to define the axis. 13 hours ago, aua668 said: 6=GX,B,12518,16383,66066,0,66067,0 -{ DIRECT: SpoilersEntering=SPOILERS_ARM_ON, Leaving=SPOILERS_ARM_OFF }- This is to arm and disarm the spoilers. 13 hours ago, aua668 said: 7=GX,B,8836,11413,66065,0 -{ Entering=SPOILERS_OFF }- This is to turn spoilers off and define the speed brake range, the speed brake will not engage if the spoilers are armed 13 hours ago, aua668 said: Spoilers=-4608,15018/16 This only specifies the range of the device, your quadrant arm. I always wonder what the 16 means. Is this correct? Pierre Nantel
aua668 Posted August 31, 2021 Report Posted August 31, 2021 Hi, You are correct in all of your assumptions. I define one range to arm the spoilers when I move the lever into that range and to disarm, when I leave this area. Then there is a detent at my lever. In the range of this detent I want to be sure, that the spoiler is off. That's why I trigger an spoiler off command in that area. And then there is the range, where the spoiler axis is sent to the simulator. On page 38 of the FSUIPC6 User Guide you will find the screenshots, how to define commands for ranges of an axis. nantelp Posted August 31, 2021 Author Report Posted August 31, 2021 HI Reinhard, After a good read of the manual and some testing a manage to create a test profile that kind of work: [Profile] Created=31/08/2021 16:31:38 [Axes] RangeRepeatRate=10 0=17X,512,D,22,0,0,0 -{ DIRECT: Spoilers }- 1=17X,B,11997,15093,66066,0,66067,0 -{ DIRECT: SpoilersEntering=SPOILERS_ARM_ON, Leaving=SPOILERS_ARM_OFF }- 2=17X,B,-16384,11997,66065,0 -{ Entering=SPOILERS_OFF }- [JoystickCalibration] AllowSuppressForPFCquad=Yes ExcludeThrottleSet=Yes ExcludeMixtureSet=Yes ExcludePropPitchSet=Yes SepRevsJetsOnly=No ApplyHeloTrim=No UseAxisControlsForNRZ=No FlapsSetControl=0 FlapDetents=No ReverserControl=66292 Reverser1Control=66422 Reverser2Control=66425 Reverser3Control=66428 Reverser4Control=66431 MaxThrottleForReverser=256 AileronTrimControl=66731 RudderTrimControl=66732 CowlFlaps1Control=66162 CowlFlaps2Control=66163 CowlFlaps3Control=66164 CowlFlaps4Control=66165 SteeringTillerControl=0 MaxSteerSpeed=60 RudderBlendLowest=1 Spoilers=-11481,16384/16 When I move my arm on my throttle I can arm and disarm the ground spoiler. that is the small zone I defined at the top. Then if I move my arm further down and look at the plane from outside, i can see the speed brake deploying. so the axis is working fine. The only thing not working, is that if I look at the speed brake arm inside the cockpit it does got up when I arm the ground spoiler and it dos go down when I leave the define zone. But when I use the speed brake area the arm doesn't move up and down in the cockpit. Not sure what I am doing wrong. Many thanks for your help Pierre Nantel
nantelp Posted September 1, 2021 Author Report Posted September 1, 2021 Hi, I have tried every combination of assignment in FSUIPC6 to get the speed brake arm in the Aerosoft Airbus 318-321 to move. Like I said, the arm does pop up and down to arm, but doesn't move up and down to arm the speed brake. But I can see on the ECAM F/CTL page when I move my quadrant spoiler arm in the second zone that the speed brake are deployed. I wonder if you have the same problem or in your case the speed brake arm is in fact moving. Pierre Nantel
nantelp Posted September 1, 2021 Author Report Posted September 1, 2021 Just realize that everything is working find with the Airbus 330 version. The speed brake arm is moving fine. Still would like to know if you have the problem with 318-321 version Pierre Nantel
aua668 Posted September 1, 2021 Report Posted September 1, 2021 Hi, I am away at the moment of my simulator, so I can't cross check. But I use it with the A320. And as far as I remember, it worked as planned. Rgds Reinhard
nantelp Posted September 3, 2021 Author Report Posted September 3, 2021 Hi, I have posted the issue on the AEROSOFT Forum and I am not the only one that have notice that the SpeedBrake arm is no longer moving in the VC. They are looking at it. Pierre Nantel Again many thanks for your help
