It a bit getting used to 'Axis assignement' you assign an action to an axis (movement) then 'Joystick calibration' <> any - above - assignment that Needs calibration, like Flaps Spoilers right arrow in 'Joystick calibration', go to 6 of 11 'trim throttle flap' (there's 11 pages x 4 Defined Assignments) Flaps: FIRST here you tick the REV box (aha) then set bottom set top FSuipc Automatically Reads The Amount Of Flap Settings From The Aircraft.cfg, So 1 Whole Lever Range Fits All (you'll start doing "aircraft specific" when 1 <> 2 <> 4 engine AC) Spoiler has 3 modes: Not, Armed, Extended (in pilot speak, its Down Armed or Up) I have a CH Throttle Quad With An Indent, so 3 'Positions':> also REV ticked 1. upper to top of indent, 2. top to bottom of indent, 3. below indent and makes for the 3 modes, and the Indent fits nicely around the "Armed" position I have lots of levers, so I have 1 lever for 1. Upper Half: Gear Up, 2. Lower Half: Gear Down :) also have a Saitek Yoke, Great, 150% improvement over my previous CH and with 'compounded buttons', I have way more than 13 definitions :) (per aircraft I have like 80 button lines) mt
  2. Got me doubting now Had major FSX setup problems adding a second screen, for overhead and comms, and that started memory problems and CTDs. (turned out I probably just had to un-install a new sound card & re-install the Nvidia drivers, to have the second video memory recognized .. took 4 days to figure this). Now I have sort of 'lost track' of what I have done after error finding. I put my Nvidia drivers in 'quality' now, where with 1 monitor I wanted speed settings, but these speed settings cause all kinds of buffer screens to be written, that tend to disappear with a second screen, ah well. Anyway, I canNOT exactly reproduce the weather difference, but Before, I would have 2m ground texture resolution (gives me 20-30FPS with little traffic / Vatsim) and at approx 5000' I would see the same 'sharpness' from the ground all the way to the Horizon, where not blocked by clouds. Then, switching visibility graduated: LowerVisAltitude=0 UpperVisAltitude=18000 UpperVisibility=8000 (the last a low setting), I now (now?) see a 'couple' of Nm 'hotspot' circle underneat me (F11) in familiar 2m resolution and this gradually goes somwhat blurry further away and to the horizon, and I have A Lot More Clouds Around Me, that I can remember form before I started experimenting with the FSUIPC tabs. I tried to reproduce an OnOff effect, by switching the fsuipc tab, but this only worked once, probably there is a 'wheather' change 'delay' factor there, and Im not sure what happens. Have also ASX and XGrafics installed, so could be a lot of coincidences. Happy with the view though, lots of 'windy' clouds around me, bad weather, bad view. MT
  3. there's something weird going on - in my? - setup I started it and noticed in 4253 checked in 4255 just rechecked in latest 4.256 this I enable for test: allow changes to weather smooth wind changes only when airborn gusts in upper winds random turbulence random icing apply upper limit icing random turb in clouds I am interested in smooth wind and random turb in clouds this happens: all checks out well BUT chkmark 'random turb in clouds', I chk the INI, and says "CloudTurbulence=Yes" I end FSX I chk the INI, and says "CloudTurbulence=Yes" Restart FSX I enter FSUIPC, "random turb in clouds" UNchecked, I chk the INI, and says "CloudTurbulence=No" its switches OFF at a FSX restart ? A - more important thing - I just started using "Visibility" 'set graduated visibility', and thought this was Great. In Netherland, you Never have unlimited viz (well, 6 days a year), and always a 'haze' looks good, very European, unlike 100% dry clear sky, you can find in the US. and the TAB "Visibility" is no more in 4.256 ??????? bring it back? thx mt

Clouds: occasional turbulence in clouds will not stick I chk the box, but it will not save in the ini I find CloudTurbulence=No and set to yes, will not mark the box (dont know if it works) does the option work? any guess why it will not save? would CloudTurbulence=Yes do the same? thx mt
  5. @jordanal nice and Tidy coding (you should see mine, brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr) off TOPIC I see in your profile you have a XFi-XtremeGamer 5.1 soundcard does this add to FSX? or is it more for other games? I was looking at this, and you have a similar P5K board and 4GB memory you use 6 speakers? TIA

I think you just went in and out of MS programming quagmire similar example, there are - guesstimate - remnants of FS9 code in FSX ever had 'lets push F10 for panel view' and you get the Kneeboard? how does that happen? when you would ask MS if they know what would cause such problem, they would say they dont know (or 'you should reinstall:) it's because they really dont know
  7. hi starting to explore 'all the checkboxes' and especially the weather in FSuipc 'clear weather slows dynamics', I have a guesstimate what it does, but not sure of its purpose? your requested feedback: tried a couple of versions back 'allow wind change' and 'smooth wind' and got the 'partial fix' in the log, and didnt work that well, so end of that. was flying Feelthere's PIC737X (great AC!) and has a rather 'sensitive' AP and was all over the place in high altitude gusts, and when Accelleration Rate 4x shows a real rolercoaster (wirh the crazy gusts). Now with the latest version 4.253 and adding TurbulenceRate=1.0,5.0 and TurbulenceDivisor=20,20,40,40, also chked 'gradient visability' and 'random turbulence in clouds' just flew Amsterdam to London all works .. smooooooooooooooooooooooooth windvane in HSI steady, 4x not so crazy. log says 'Wind smoothing fix is fully installed' well done
  8. I had a couple of these happening, and after lots of hair pulling, indeed the 1 thing that works is deleting the .ini and all problems are gone. What I do now is tediously make backups of the .ini with any change of every setting. Having said that, I have the guesstimation that the problem lies with bad USB 'writes', all of a sudden, the USB is off the 'calibrated' settings, and FSuipc goes berzerk. I have a lot less poblems, now that I have reverted my OS back to XP (pro SP2) [even the /3GB switch gives problems], before I had FSX installed on Vista64x (the box has 4GB) and FSX was reeeeeaaallly faaaast, until I got Simconnect dropouts, Vatsim bad voice connects and 'over the network' button drops (ones in a while, just to go mad). Therefore, I backup every time, and when something goes bad, Pull Out your USB's, Restart your PC, connect USB's and check the proper calibration of your devices in 'game controllers', and only then start FSX. When things go bad still, perhaps you also 'upgraded' to Vista or Vista64, and as I said, my guesstimate is, that should only be done with a Recent model motherboard, that's specifically designed for Vista (and proven?!). In my case, a Asus P5K, still isnt good enough, I noticed FSX demands just a looooooot more from hardware, than any other program/game (Nerver a problem with any strategy games), and all my clever shortcuts for speed, haunt me, when I start adding addon's (FSInn, FSCommander, ASX, and simconnect controlled aircraft panels) my 2 cts
  9. Like Pete says I did a couple of edits for aircraft when I used FS9, and have a look at: aircraft.cfg [GeneralEngineData] min_throttle_limit = -0.25 //Minimum percent throttle. Generally negative for turbine reverser and make this like -0.12 and you would have 50% reverse (havent tested) actually I have a Saitek and using FSX and dont mind lots of reverse specially at aerosoft's Lukla airport (Himalaya) you want Lots of It :D also I have the throttle button 'when button released' do 'throttle# Cut' for the throttle button seems to 'stick' to reverse (at least my feelthere 737) when returned to 0 what made me advance throttles a bit after landing reverse, and gives a weird accelleration 'bump'. mt
  10. I just have NOT installed the Saitek driver. A problem maybe if you use another flightsim, but I havent yet.
  11. FYI Just want to mention to those with the new Saitek Yoke, the throttle - at least I can't - get it to work with Airbus PIC series, and there are some Forum mentionings of 'disconnect fsuipc'. BUT, then I just attached my old MS Sidewinder Joystick, and the little Throttle lever of that one Does Work / doesnt interfere with Autothrottle getting stuck, or doing nothing or the wrong thing. So now I have FSuipc 'aircraft specific' for the Airbus and switch to my Joystick and use that throttle lever for Airbus indents, and still was able to define a Yoke lever with 2 ranges for Throttle Cut and Reverse, and thats what I pull when touchdown .. tada So appearantly Feelthere Airbus must heve been tested with MS default throttle definition, but the Saitek Yoke does something different .. alas. to save you folks a lot of trial and error (what I did), mt
  12. Oh OK. I am not yet into the Advanced stuff so it looks like I'll have to go do some more reading. The work-around: Firstly I removed all the joystick buttons Assignments in the FS9 Options/Controls/Assignments dialog, just to avoid any confusion. Hi just have started to figure out compound buttons for my Saitek also. it's reeeeally worthwhile to do the trial-by-error to figure this out for your 'workaround' seems like a looot more work. EDIT: you can "on the fly" test your re-definition(s) by hitting "relaod button definition" the jest of it I'll discribe here in your .ini all button pushes are assigend to #joystick and #button just define with action you want and figure out the editing of a certain button for instance I want the "left back button" (#0) to do a "ctrl+space" to set to "default reset viewpoint" WHEN in (saitek button) mode 3 my Mode#3 is defines as ExternalView button F11 (do NOT have the Saitek USB software loaded / uninstall this, else FSUIPC can NOT see your Saitek 3-way Mode BUTTON) so chk this left back button #0 in the FSUIPC Menu mine (depending what order FSX found your joysticks at initiallization, Yoke first=0) is Joyst.#0 button#0 / so code is <0,0> hit saitek mode3 button and shows: (if Joyst.#0) button#10 / so code is <0,10> do we pulse (hit Once) or repeat or hold or release the button? page 11: pulse value is "FSUIPC4 for Advanced Users.pdf" page 12: spacebar Keyboard value is <32>, thus is page 13: ctrl+ is appended value <10>, thus <,10> page 14 COMPOUND BUTTON CONDITIONS: n=CP(+j2,b2)j,b, .. and followed by action code thus there's a value for conditions, and the conditional mode is mode3, which was found to be value 0,10 and this must be , thus a <+> added, so <+0,10> thus condition mode3 for back left button (page 14): n=CP(+0,10)0,0, <= condition "0,10" is ON "+" for button "0,0" (when joystick is "0") and expect a "P"ush the Action we want is ctrl backspace "K32,10" add this in the 'formula': n=CP(+0,10)0,0,K32,10 n= is the next defined action#, any unique in sequence in your [buttons], mine, with Yoke, ThrottleQ, Rudder, Joystick (a Lot) ended "30=" so above 30= 31=CP(+0,10)0,0,K32,10 and to backtrack above: additional [buttons] definition #31 (yours will be different) / 31= WHEN my mode button is mode#3 and expecting a Pulse Action P / CP(+0,10) FOR button number 0,0 (yours may be 1,0 if for instance your Yoke is #1 and not #0) / 0,0, DO K32,10 that is ctrl+space / K32,10 voila and is an explanation for John Veldthuis post of: 1=CP(+1,8)1,0,K49,8 2=CP(+1,9)1,0,K50,8 etc My updated definition of button 0,0 WHEN mode#3 is: 31=CP(+0,10)0,0,K8,8 / BACKSPACE, is zoom 0, with my mode#3 defined F11 external view 32=CP(+0,10)0,0,K32,10 / ctrl+space "set view behind plane" 33=CP(+0,10)0,0,K38,9 / SHFT-UP ARROW, shift Up the view 1 notch 34=CP(+0,10)0,0,K38,9 / repeat UP 35=CP(+0,10)0,0,K38,9 / repeat UP 36=CP(+0,10)0,0,K38,9 / repeat UP and I push this f.i. after landing at rollout, to see where Im going / looking for a runway exit, and chk the states of flaps and spoilers I also have TRIM up down WHEN in Panel mode and view reset WHEN in VC mode etc. a lot to figure out but WHEN you did, you only define those few buttons, that you really want / and saves a lot of time my 2 cnts, mt

Addon Menu disappeared, simconnect working over network Hi FSUIPC not working / not connecting (and it runs my Yokes) before I reinstall everything Ill ask here Addon menu all of a sudden disappeared FSX on XP64bit Had FSX SP1 installed en simconnect RTM en SP1 and all worked, then .. pfffffff have had SP2 and SDKsp2 installed but Uninstalled because it took some FPS and all worked well (like a week) when all of a sudden ....   15. First, its all over the forums that Acceleration will crash many computers / you would be lucky if it doesnt. You have crashes 'at the end of a 3 hour flight' and this might be the 'out of memory' problem. I experienced the same: crashes when you are at the STAR at the other end (when 'new source code' is swapt in after CRZ??) / bummer. I had 2x1GB DDR2 modules and a regular (leftover) 1GB module / also tested without the latter. 1. I researched what was going on and found Vista uses little over 1GB, and FSX with Max textures and big screen and 32bits will also use just over 1GB (Taskmgr will say 680MB or so, NOT). So for avoiding constant Disk swap rattle, and memory probs, you want / Need >2GB. 2. BUT, putting extra GB in will get you into other problems, x86 will only see 3GB and Many ('older', like 1 year / tssss) Computers Will Crash when installed with Not Same Brand / same Specs Memory sticks. There supposed te be a MS 4GB fix for this "Windows6.0-KB929777-v2-x64.msu", hard to find, and for good reason / it doesnt work half of the time (me: some boots yes, som no / crazy) So to get to 3GB best is 2x 1GB Same Brand & Specs and 2x 512MB sticks I bought 2 more Same Brand Same Specs DDR2 for total 4GB and CTDs 'at end of long flight' are gone. My 75$ :mrgreen:

There's further evidence of SimConnect problems on Vista64 here: http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=ic_id=1118 Bytheway this concerns "x64 Compiled Addons" (that exist probably far and few between) and is a remark aimed at new software developers, and has nothing to do with any addon that has the 'normal' x86 footprint, developed on a regular x86 workstation.

Im running FSX and Vista x64 and no other poblems then the 'usual' The order of the statement in your DLL.XML is very important FSCopilot always last / or it will crash everything / and even then often problems, fortunately when exiting FSX (bad unload fscopilot.dll) and FSUIPC I do before last and planes in between (levelD, PIC 737, PDMG) also I had BIG problems with crashes and then I used XmlShell (freeware XML file syntax checker) You can NOT see the difference, but when I wrote dll.xml back after chk by XmlShell (most often just rearranges tab stops) the crashes DISAPPEARED so there must be some sort of UNIX / MSDOS / Windows end-of-file and tab code number mixup, and its invisible, but it DID crash my FSX my 5cts (also I have Defender Stopped and DFS replication service (makes your x64 network SLOOOOW) and Index service and UAC)
  18. when I calibrate detents I never clear? set 0 setting From move to To position 1st detent / set To go #2 #2 From will be same as To from previous, just dont move lever / Set From / move to To / set To go #3 , do not move lever / set From / move to To / set To etc But, flaps I dont do detents, for FSUIPC will know how many Flap positions there are with different AC (like 3, others 5) and saves you a lot of calibration if you keep this on 'autosense' (reads your aircraft.cfg appearantly). Only have to remember per different AirCraft approx takeoff flap position, my CH Throttle has perfect detent (Idle) for flaps-1 (like 30 with 737-400) and is the preferred Landing Flap / same with spoiler, use CH Idle detent for 'ARM" / but of course you can do whatever and I have a Gear UpDown lever with Down 'Passed' 'idle' Detente my 2 cts

Found this in a comment here, but deserves its own thread, i'd say the Saitek Yoke eratic ghost Button Pushes Presses / appearantly Peter found a suppression allready quite a while a go, put in your [buttons] section: EliminateTransients=Yes (Suppresses 'spiked' signals) Now I can comfortably postpone my RMA exchange untill I hear new stock is for sure fixed :twisted: :mrgreen: (Like DEC 14th here in Holland is the rumour)
  20. BTW: renaming SaiD0BAC.pr0 is not enough load it in Notepad, delete content save the empty file, Write Protect this file or Saitek will put a new default SaiD0BAC.pr0 in your System32 dir.

Great find, thx, 3 buttons added still Shift modes seems a good idea Any chance Mr. Dowson can find a way to assign/define/create a Shift Button#1 on the Yoke that will multiply all other available Buttons? :x :P :P BTW. My Saitek does an eratic view push average 3x per 1 hour light / seems OK(I have Trim all Exchanged for View Buttons)

Saitek Pro Yoke normally uses SST software, and then you can do Mode 1/2/3 with a 3 way button, and Treble your button states This mode button does NOT show up in FSUIPC So there's no chance we will be able to use this? / would be nice I am so used to FSUIPC that I don't want to use SST, also I suspect this is the 'random eratic button push' culprit, much talked about complaint. Without loading SST the yoke runs fine. Any persons here who combine SST and FSUIPC and like to post thier use here? thx

Saitek has only 3 levers (unless you have 2 quadrants) Twin engine prop: you have to choose if you want Prop or Mixture / with 2 Throttles or 1 Throttle Twin engines (JET): I have 1- Throttle 1 2- Throttle 2 3- Mixture (engines Cut Off) Pretty obvious n'est pas Reverse THRUST Saitek really is a BUTTON Mode "Buttons + Switches" do reverse lever, and will show button# Control sent when button pressed: "Throttle Decr" AND check Control to repeat when held (simulate F2 hold down) I do NOT do "Throttle 1 Decr" Throttle 2 Decr" because for 4 engine Jets in "Joystick Calibration" "3 of 11" I have Map 1 -> 12, 2 ->34 checked and you want All Engines to Reverse / (with 2 levers) with 4 engines: Map 1 -> 12, 2 ->34 checked 3- Mixture (lever#3) ciao
