What are your settings in FSX for faults occurring? Meaning have you set the game to give random aircraft failures/breakages?

Have you disabled the default airport?

Have you tried disabling GSX?

Is MSFS updated?

To answer your question -

Make sure you downloaded the FSX installer not the FS9 installer.

Confirm your install path to the FSX root folder.

Run the installer as administrator.

 

Now - if the above doesn't work open a NEW topic as this thread is for a MSFS question.  My answer and your question will be removed as off-topic on 8 Nov. '22.

The game hasn't been changed updated in over a year.

Confirm the install path and make sure the then installers recognized your Steam install and out the files within the correct folders.
