  1. Hi, short answer: no, it isn't. FS gauges are part of FS itself and have to be run inside FS. But there are alternatives. You may want to look at ProjectMagenta. These gauges can be used in the way you want because they are written as external programs that interface to FS via FSUIPC and WideFS. There may be more of that kind. Check the links on http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html (right hand side). Regards, Frank
  2. Hi, you don't have to go into slew mode to make assignments for it. The trouble you are having happened to me as well when I first installed CH yoke and pedals after having used a simple joystick before. It's nothing to do with FSUIPC. There were double assignments in flight mode and slew mode after FS had recognized the yoke and pedals and had made the standard assignments for them. I made all proper assignments for flight mode but forgot about the slew mode. Go into options controls assignments, choose slew mode from the drop down list and delete any axis assignments you can find there. That should fix it. You can reassign the axes you want after that. I only rarely use slew mode at all and so a few keys assigned to some simple slew commands are enough for me. Regards, Frank
  3. Gary, I answered your question in the cockpit builders forum, have a look :) And it is normal behaviour of FS9 - deleting entries it does not "like". Regards, Frank
  4. Hi, the first place I would look at would be the visibility page of FSUIPC. Make sure you have the correct limits for the various conditions set there. And next check the "random extend metar maxima" checkbox. If you use FS_Meteo this is grayed out in FSUIPC because it is controlled by FS_Meteo so you must use the apropriate setting there. Regards, Frank
  5. Hi, No, FSUIPC is an FS module and thus is only loaded when FS is launched. It cannot interfere with DX when FS is not running.Regards, Frank
  6. Nikki, that is because from version 3.00 onwards FSUIPC is payware. It still provides free access for addons like the freeware one but to use the special user facilities you need an access key. The last free FSUIPC was 2.975 I think but this will only work on FS2002 and older and it is not supported anymore. For FS9 you need the latest. Regards, Frank
  7. Michael, you do not need FSUIPC to make you setup work in FS in the first place (though I would strongly recommend getting it). FSUIPC as well as FS can only work with input devices that are seen by windows. In simple words: you'll have to make all your potentiometers to look like one or more joysticks. The most simple way to do this is to get a few simple USB joysticks, disassemble them, use only the electric circuit and the cable and connect your potentiometers and buttons instead if the original ones. Then you can plug them in one by one and calibrate them in Windows gamecontroller. After that FS will see them, you can assign axes and buttons and you can refine the calibration using FSUIPC. Before I started using PFC equipment I had something like that running and it worked fine. Regards, Frank
  8. Hi, There's a software called gates.to/FSNet that does what you are asking for. It is still in beta as far as I know. Have a look here. Regards, Frank
  9. Doug, I take it you are using the V-key or L-key to choose VNAV or LNAV at the moment right? You could try to program the buttons you want to use to send a V-keypress or an L-keypress. Regards, Frank
  10. Hi, to make your preferred view setting permanent you have to edit the panel.cfg of the aircraft. There is a "HowTo" written by Lou Betty about that on flighsim.com. It is a bit older (for FS2000) but still valid. You'll have to edit or create the [views] section and play with the "look_forward_dir=.." and "look_forward_zoom=.." parameters. Same goes for every other view direction. HTH Regards, Frank Edit: Just found the tutorial, here's the link: http://www.flightsim.com/cgi/kds?nkqaW00J=main/howto/view_win.htm
  11. CBris, you mean when you calibrate the stick on the joystick page of FSUIPC you want to enter the values for the dead zone and the extremes manually? That is not possible but you may have a look at the FSUIPC.ini . All calibration values are recorded there and with a little bit of trial and error you might be able to achieve what you want by editing the ini file. Regards, Frank
  12. Hi Marc, what you want to do should be possible. First you must make sure your potentiometers are visible as joystick axes and are correctly calibrated in Windows->Gamecontrollers. Then the four throttles can be assigned in FS's own menu. The reverser potentiometers must be assignedd to axes otherwise unused in FS first. Then you make them reversers by editing the FSUIPC ini file. Idon't know the exact procedure 'cause I dont use such a setup but it is described in one of the manuals that come with FSUIPC (adva´nced users manual I think). Regards, Frank
  13. Hi Nick, nice setup you have there, the PFC equipment looks abit modified  You're also using the Baron? I've modified the panel to better cooperate with the PFC stuff. I'll try to attach a pic. Regards, Frank
  14. Nick, you're right. I didn't think about that. Mine was registered from the beginning. You miss a lot with an unregistered copy. For instance I have programmed all the GPS buttons (that are unusable in FS otherwise) to operate the FS GPS and much more (windsmoothing etc.) Anyway my tip is not a solution but only a workaround. Your original problem is something Pete would have to deal with when he's back from holidays I think. I have a Cirrus2 and Digital Avionics with Remote Instrument Controller. It's the ideal setup for my favourite aircraft, the Baron. My computer is a P4 3.2GHz on Intel875P mainboard, 1GB of RAM, Geforce FX 5900 ultra and a 19" flatscreen made by Samsung (Syncmaster 191T). I'm quite happy with it :) . Well your setup sound a bit demanding but first of all I would check what is running alongside FS. Possible culprits are virus scanners, email checkers, messengers... all that. I remember that on my old computer the Epson print monitor did something similar, checking the LPT port regularly even if there was nothing to be printed and the printer was off. Regards, Frank P.S.: Oh by the way, the links you posted didn't work. Page not found.
  15. Hi again, in Internet Explorer go to Tools->Internet Options -> Advanced. Scroll down until you find "Empty Temporary Internet Files On Exit" (don't know the exact term, my windows is german) and place a checkmark there. Close IE and restart it. Go to http://www.schiratti,com/dowson.html. When the page is loaded press Ctrl-F5 to refresh it. Then download the file. It should be the correct one now. Regards, Frank
  16. Hi Nick, If everything else fails you can assign that in the FSUIPC buttons page. The button programming in FSUIPC will override the one in PFC.dll. Regards, Frank
  17. Hi, there's a topic called "READ THIS IF YOU LOSE YOUR FSUIPC or WIDEFS keys " at the top of the forum. Perhaps reading it will help you. Regards, Frank
  18. Hi, it's OK here so there may be a problem with browser cache or proxy server. Empty the cache and/or try to force the proxy to reload the page pressing ctrl+F5. Regards, Frank
  19. Hi, the ACS-GPS can do this if I recall correctly. Regards, Frank
  20. Hi Michael, I think you can assign a key press or an FS control to that button using the FSUIPC button page. What you program there will override the settings in PFC.dll. I have programmed all the GPS buttons on the Digital Avionics to operate the FS internal GPS. HTH Frank
  21. Hi, what flight controls are you talking about? A console with yoke and throttle quad and pedals attached to it? Or a combination of yoke and pedals? If the latter, are they USB? It may be a different matter entirely but I remember one or two reports from the german FS newsgroup where simmers had trouble with USB flight controls not responding after having been left untouched for a short while (autopilot engaged). It was caused by the computers power management which turned of the USB hub after a while of inactivity. Disabling the power management solved it. Regards, Frank
  22. Hello, why not use FS Autostart and let it do everything automatically? It is an excellent little program. It can terminate services and programs prior to starting FS, it can start applications alongside FS (weather programs for instance) and when FS ist closed down it can terminate the programs started alongside FS and restart whatever it stopped before. And the best thing is: it can't do any harm to your computer because it does not do any permanent changes. A simple reboot and everything is as it was before. Regards, Frank
  23. Hi Pete, I think he means that if he sets up a flight to start for instance in China he wants the time to be automatically set to the local time of that location instead of the system time of his computer (local time where he lives). If you use system time your local time is applied to the location where your plane is which is not allways correct. When it is daytime in Europe it will be nighttime in China and considering there's difference between day weather and night weather (temperature for instance) it may be useful to also set the appropriate time from the "create a flight" dialog. While this is not possible in FS there's a utility that can do this. It's called FS Time Keeper and can be found here. Regards, Frank
  24. Hi Pete, that means "I'm on holyday until Feb 8th, I will reply as soon as possible" Regards, Frank
  25. Hi, I have no experience with GPS's so this is just a shot in the dark but may be this thread is of some use for you. Regards, Frank
