  1. Hi Rick, glad you got it working. But you should assign static IP adresses as I described in my first post: I have a german windows so I don't know the exact names of everything on your system but they should be similar. The IP adress should be 192.168.0.1 for the comp that connects to the internet (in case you use ICS) and 192.168.0.2 for the other one. The subnet mask should be 255.255.255.0 on both. I seem to recall users reporting stutters in FS when the IP adress assignment is left up to windows. You can check the IP adresses by opening a DOS-box, typing ipconfig and then hitting . In Windows98 it was via start->run and then entering winipcfg. Regards, Frank
  2. Hi Rick, check the wide client.ini on the client pc. There should be either an entry stating the name of the main computer or an entry stating its IP adress. Make sure this points in the right direction since name and/or IP-adress may have changed due to the reinstall of windows. Also make sure your network is working properly (open the network neighbourhood on each and check if you can see the other one) and both computers are using static IP-adresses (right click on network neighbourhood on your desktop, choose properties, right click on the network adapter, also choose properties, in the list click on TCP/IP and then on the button labeled "properties" and assign a static IP adress and subnet mask). HTH Regards, Frank
  3. Hi, does your throttle quad properly show up in the game controller applet of the windows control panel and can it be calibrated there and does the calibration stick? Is your quad USB or gameport? I remember that long ago on a Win98SE system I had to move yoke and pedals (USB) to their extremes before flying to recalibrate them. For gameport devices that was not necessary. Also look into FS9 assignments and sensitivities, is everything ok there? The calibration in FSUIPC is just a refinement. Before using it everything has to be set up ok in FS itsself. For best results the sensitivities should be set to max and the null zone to narrow. FS sometimes does funny things with joysticks and for me it helped to add "stick_sensitivity_mode=0" to the [controls] section of the cfg file. I even put "locked=1" into every separate joystick section. But that was on FS 2002, I don't use joysticks any more so I'm not sure whether or not this is still valid for FS9. Hope this helps a little bit. Regards Frank
  4. Pete, I'd like to pass on a heartfelt "Merry Christmas and happy new year" to you. May all your wishes be fullfilled and may you and your family allways be well. I read your forum daily and that alone helped me to avoid lots of problems I would have had otherwise the latest being the installation of the FS9.1 patch. You have helped me out many times, via email before the forum existed and then here. You were always friendly and patient with me even when I was still a beginner with PFC hardware and contacted your for issues that later turned out to be hardware related. A big Thank You for all that. That's it :) Regards, Frank
  5. Hi Domingos, you may also find this article helpful. Regards, Frank
  6. Hi, yes that is possible. If you load an aircraft via the menu FS reads the panel window positions from the panel.cfg file. If you load a flight it reads the same information from the *.flt file. Download the panel SDK from here to find information about how to modify the panel.cfg. Regards, Frank
  7. Hi, I think this is the mistake you made. I can't look into FS right now, but I remember that there must be another button labeled "register an application". Click on that one and then you should be able to enter the name of the gauge and the reg code. This of course applies to unregistered copies of FSUIPC only. If your copy is registered there's no need of entering key codes for aplications. Regards, Frank
  8. Hi, there's something more you can do with AFCAD. Load the airport, bring up the runways properties and change the length of all runways to read exactly the same number as the longest one. This does not change any visuals in FS2002 but it makes ATC "think" all runways are of equal length. It will then assign the correct runway based on the wind direction. But be sure to only equalize runways that were similar in size before or you may be assigned a short grass strip for your next 747 landing otherwise :) . You'll have to do that for every airport you want to use more than one runway on. Regards, Frank
  9. Hi Pete, I don't know. Have you tried? I thought you either had panning or specific cardinal views. I've always used the latter. You can pan up and down in any of those views, this is what was possible in FS2002 (look forward left by holding the 7 key on the num block and additionally pan up and down). It was a usefull feature when looking out for traffic but at least on my computer this doesn't work anymore in FS9. I have tried all possible combinations of panning and eyepoint controls I could think of. As a workaround I have set my side views a bit more zoomed out (0.75). Regards, Frank
  10. Hi Pete, I may be wrong but I think Marc wants to fly a twin engined jet and he is trying to set up his CH yoke so the throttle lever operates both throttles, the mix lever operates the spoilers and the prop lever operates both separate reverse levers. You know those reverse levers that are mounted onto the main throttle levers in a real airliner. On landing you pull the throttles back to idle and then grab the reverse levers and pull them back also to engage reverse. So the prop lever on the CH yoke should provide no reverse in the full forward position and full reverse on both engines in the full backward position. I have never done that but it may be possible to do it by editing the FSUIPC.ini. Hope this helps, Frank
  11. Hi Jeffro, you should be able to get the key where you bought FSUIPC. If that was at Simmarket, simply log onto your account there and view the purchase history. The key will be there. HTH Frank
  12. Hi Pete, this time it is not to report a problem  but just to congratulate you on the new FSUIPC3.30. Yesterday I did my first flight with it. The new windsmoothing is...marvelous, splendid...no more words I'm afraid :) I have modified the HSI on my Baron panel to include a wind indicator and several times during my flight I found myself staring at that little red arrow enjoying how slowly it moved when the wind changed. I still remember the many threads here on the forum about that wind issue and your many replies illustrating the tremendous effort that went into investigating the problem and also the lots of frustration you had to cope with while not being able to solve it. Well, that is over :D Very very very well done, thanks a lot. All the best to you especially with your upcoming eye surgery. Hope your eyesight is back to normal soon. Kind regards, Frank
  13. Hi Ray, that is exactly what happens in FS9. The weather changes on it's own even if you have set the weather dynamics to "none". That's all because of the new weather engine. I'm not a programmer but I think that nothing can be done about it. The only thing I could think of is to reload the same weather settings every now and then but I beleive this would introduce some disadvantages (regarding smoothing options and such). Regards, Frank
  14. It looks like it. Under test at present, hopefully for a release later next week. Wow!!! Many congratulations on that, Pete! You are really a genius! This is (next to getting my PFC stuff working properly) the best thing that happened this year, FS wise that is. It will take my enjoyment of FS to a much higher level. Many thanks, and, looking forward to it. Kind regards, Frank
  15. Good morning Pete, please forgive me for jumping in here, but does this mean you have cracked the nut? Will those silly wind shifts that blow the plane all over the place be gone in the near future? I'm slowly getting a bit excited  :D 8) Kind regards, Frank
  16. Hi, a long time ago -on FS98- I had the GPS made by Alain Capt installed which did almost exactly that. If I recall right it had three options when reaching the destination: pause the sim, fly circles, do nothing. May be there is a new version for FS9? Regards, Frank
  17. Hi Peter, isn't "Ctrl G" the keystroke to "manually pump the landing gear"? I assume this is meant to be used when you have set the realism settings to allow for failures and the sim has failed the hydraulic system so you can't lower the gear with the gear switch you would normally use. Regards, Frank
  18. Chris, one thing that comes to my mind here is to check that no other game controllers can interfere. TQ6 and CH yoke are USB right? Is there possibly another game controller (gameport-) connected (a gamepad or something)? Then you should check FS's assignments and make sure there are no FS controls assigned to the axes and buttons of that gamecontroller. Another thing is the setup of the power management of your computer, but I'm not sure wether this could apply here. I remember reports on the german FS newsgroup where the power management would srew up things after a certain period of inactivity (flying on autopilot) by turning parts of the hardware off or into standby mode. Regards, Frank
  19. Hi Pete, that's because on Mondays they're all still tired and half drunk from all the parties over the weekend. :D  Thanks for that Pete, it is exactly what I hope too. :) Kind regards, Frank
  20. Hi, yes, that's what I did after checking the cable with a multimeter :) . There should be a note about that in the documentation shouldn't there? Nothing, as I said, I suspected one of the cables to be defective and wanted to know wether that switch doing nothing could be an indicator. Thanks anyway. Meanwhile it's fixed :D :D :D 8) The folks at Verkosoft were very friendly and helpful. But that Cirrus2 was surely made on a monday or something. Two bad potentiometers, a bad avionics master switch, a bad soldering junction in the power line to the avionics, a defective protection diode in the power line to the avionics and last but not least a bad soldering spot on the controller board. Phew.... But now I'm a happy simmer again :D Regards, Frank
  21. Ah, I see. Thanks a lot, Pete. Regards, Frank
  22. Hi Pete, I had sent my Cirrus2 for repairs and got it back yesterday but it still doesn't work properly. They allowed me to open the unit and sent me a replacement controller board but it didn't help. To track down the culprit I need to know wether the little switch labelled Nav Select one/two on the Remote Instrument Controller should show up on the test page of the PFC driver. Every single rotary or button shows up there exept for that switch plus the gear indicator lights don't work (they remain dark whatever I do). I suspect one of the cables between the Didital Avionics and The RIC to have gone. Thanks in advance and kind regards, Frank
  23. Hi, I think you need to register Squawkbox with FSUIPC. Referr to the user guide to find out how to do it and get the registration key from the sticky thread "keys for freeware" at the top of this forum. Regards, Frank
  24. Hi Pete, you're right. I should have expressed it better. "Similar" was just meant in the sense of "buttons doing not what tey are expected to do here also". That's what I said in my post actually. :) Oh, that's really good news, thanks for taking the time. Unfortunately I'll not be able to do any testing at the moment. I'm grounded :( . For the second time within two years I had to send my Cirrus2 for repairs :( . They told me I was the only customer they have who ever had problems with it. :? Can take a while till I'll have it back  . Regards, Frank
  25. Ah..., take your time Pete, no need to hurry  Hope you enjoyed your vacation. How were the steam railways in Cuba? :) Regards, Frank
