  1. PeteD & Scadelieros I believe that you can also get a pause/stutter if you have "Pause on task Switch" is ticked under "settings - General". May be worth a try. PeterH
  2. PeteD I opened FS2004 today and I got the following error message: "FSUIPC Problem This is a beta copy of FSUIPC which expired on 31/07/06." (it definitely says July) This appears to be a month later than in your "sticky" above. Is this the same problem or another one? My registered copy ex Schiratti is ver 3.65. I'll try a replacement of the dll file and see what happens. Is this payback for alll the awkward questions I have asked you in the past? :P Please help PeteH NOTE: Panic over the dll replacement worked both had the same date 27/06/06 - very odd!
  3. Hi JTH This is a bold one! In his latest guide to FSUIPC 3.6+ PeteD talks about totally disabling the joystick in FS2004 and then just using FSUIPC to assign axes and to calibrate the TQ, etc. My CH Pro Pedals, TQ and Yoke run fine on this system but I only fly twin engine planes at present. It might be worth a try? Regards PeterH
  4. Hi JTH Check your sensitivities and null zone in FS2004 for each of the 4 axes, sensitivity should be far right and null zone far left. Also check Bob Church's website http://www.stickworks.com for his cmnote02.zip - very useful in setting up the TQ. Regards PeterH
  5. Paul For the record my values in FSUIPC are as follows - I use CHCM in mapped mode so only have one "OUT" value:(My values (for a single/twin engine with reverse thrust are: Throttle 1 =-16193, -14258, -14258, +16192; Throttle 2 = -16193, -14258, -14258, +16192 - these are "SET" values and I have an "OUT" value of -4096). The values relating to these figures are: Minimum, Detent, Detent, Maximum, respectively. Like you my "zero" occurs about half way to maximum. Have you looked in the df Learjet45 VC to see what the relevant positions of the throttles are? (See BChurch cmnote.02.zip) My settings move the throttles exactly as Bob Church indicates, and these are similar settings to what Bob illustrates on p12+ in his cmnote02. I believe that if you change the sensitivities in FS 2004 then you can get a zero figure at the detent. Also as I understand it you could insert the values that you want directly into the FSUIPC.ini file. Regards PeterH
  6. Hi Graham These may be silly suggestions but 1) if you open up the "MAP" view and keep pressing the "+" button you will eventually see where you are parked. 2) Alternatively if you open up the GPS unit, and then press NRST you will again be able to choose your take-off airport ie where you are sitting and all of its details. 3) The third option is to use FS Earth with Google Earth and this would tell you were your plane is at any given point in time. 4) The fourth option would be to use EZ Landmark and that would identify many of the airfields in FS9. I would have thought it possible to "automate" 1 and 2 via a key/button press in FSUIPC, but only PeteD would be able to confirm that. Regards PeterH
  7. Hi Pete Many Thanks for the clarification, I thought that was what you intended but with such a comprehensive program like FSUIPC it always pays to make sure. I read the instructions from cover to cover so that I can use this excellent add-on to its fullest, and even now after reading from earlier versions to the latest at least 20 times over the years,I still find items that I haven't understood from a previous read. Thanks again for an excellent program. Regards PeterH
  8. Hi Pete I am trying to understand this statement at the top of Page 10 of the manual. Could you please clarify what Option TWO is in this case, is it fact the third option? "Options concerning the FSUIPC message window appear on the About/Register screen, which is available to all FSUIPC users. The feature may already automatically be enabled when FS is first loaded, but it can be turned on and off (to use only ShowText for example) in the front option screen. There are two other options there: • One, which is removed if the multi-line FS window is enabled, and which when checked stops multi-line messages going to FS’s default message window. Use this if you want to use ShowText to display the multi-line text, such as on another screen or even another PC via WideFS. • A third option which can be used to suppress all single-line messages in FS’s normal message window. This effectively replaces the “hide always” option in AdvDisplay and removes ATIS messages and multiplayer login/out notifications as well as single-line messages from external programs." Thanks PeterH
  9. JTH There is a solution using CH Control Manager. You can find it by going to http://www.ch-hangar.com and searching on 'gear down". This was solved by Bob Church and I would imagine you could also do it in FSUIPC. Regards PeterH
  10. Kiwi Pilot You need to run CHCM in "mapped mode" in order for you to use reverse thrust successfully with the TQ, etc. There is a small start program available on the CH-Hangar site which automatically loads into Fs2004 the last map that you created in CHCM. I think its called CMSTART.exe. Once you have the maps assigned in FS2004 you can then use Pete Dowson's great program to fine tune your settings. Alternatively as Pete suggests use Bob Church's cmnote02.zip to use FSUIPC (only) to set up the TQ and reverse thrust. Regards PeterH
  11. Hi Vaughn You can use CHCM with FSUIPC quite seamlessly provided that you set up everything correctly there is no conflict as far as I can see. I use CHCM to calibrate and FSUIPC to fine control. Regards PeterH
  12. HI Vaughn You may benefit from a visit to www-ch-hangar.com, what you describe has been discussed there. Check out my guide on how to set up the quadrant on that site and also make sure that all axes and buttons assignments in FS2004 have been made correctly and you have the sensitivity for ALL 6 axes set over fully to the right and the null zone for ALL 6 axes set over fully to the left (you have to pan down in FS2004 to see all 6 settings) I use Pete Dowson's FSUIPC to "fine tune" my settings after using CHCM to calibrate them. Regards PeterH
  13. Hi Ch I don't have the same problem with step 12 so I will investigate that point again, downloading the map shouldn't affect the axes settings unless you forgot to save your settings after calibration ie before downloading in this case you could be picking up your old settings? CMSTART.exe is available fro the CH Products site alongside the CHCM ver 4.0 manager. Bob Church's CMNOTE02.zip makes it easy to set up the TQ using FSUIPC. Regards PeterH
  14. Hi CH I see that you used CHCM to set up the TQ - only use ver 4.0 by the way it is by far and away the best version. Using CHCM did you use "mapped" mode and then subsequently "download" your map which would automatically transfer your mapped values into FS2004. (There is a small program called CMSTART.EXE which will automatically download your latest map in CHCM into FS2004 everytime Windows starts.) If you did this then your TQ assignments in FS2004 will be exactly the same as those that you assigned in CHCM. In FS2004 under assignments always ensure that sensitivity is full right and null zone full left for ALL 6 TQ axes. However you can set up TQ in FSUIPC alone and the best guide to this is Bob Church's cmnote02.zip available from http://www.stickworks.com. I have posted a guide to setting up the CH Yoke, TQ, Pro Pedals on the CH-Hangar.com web site, using CHCM, FS9 and FSUIPC under "general" : http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=2691. Hope this helps PeterH
  15. Les One of the reasons that CHCM maybe NOT working for you is that it needs to be in "mapped" mode in order to work effectively in FS2004 (ie in order to be able to use the settings you assigned in CHCM). However you can set up RT in FSUIPC alone and the best guide to this is Bob Church's cmnote02.zip available from http://www.stickworks.com. I have posted a guide to setting up the CH Yoke, TQ, Pro Pedals on the CH-Hangar.com web site, using CHCM under "general" : http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=2691. Hope this helps PeterH
  16. Lvpunnk Might be worth trying the http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum as it may be possible to program what you want via CH Control Manager v4.0, using its scripting language. Whether it will work effectively in FS9 is another matter. Bob Church is an excellent resource person. Regards PeterH
  17. Hi Jim and Pete Many thanks for the info. For Jim, I merely gave ASVe as an example of where a copy of FSUIPC.dll was included in the software. Pete Dowson seems to have the situation well in hand as his program has enough smarts to know if there were more than one version installed. Thanks so much for your effort and time. Regards PeterH
  18. Hi Pete Sometimes add-on programs will try to "install" a version of FSUIPC.dll with their software which may or may not be the latest version. Sometimes you get an option to install the included FSUIPC.dll, but sometimes you do not. ASVe and FS Real time both spring to mind. Now you could end up with multiple copies of FSUIPC all of vaying versions and dates in your Fligt Simulator 9 directory. (ASVe "installs" their included version of FSUIPC in Flight Simulator 9 \Modules\ASV\ folder). My questions are: 1) Should there only be ONE copy of FSUPIC.dll in the FS9 folder? 2) Will multiple copies of the FSUIPC.dll and of varying ages and versions on your PC cause any problems? 3)Should you delete all other copies of FSUIPC.dll except the registered one? Thanks PeterH
  19. Hi Pete Many thanks for the explanation. With regard to the axes I meant to mean what you posted but obviously put it badly. Regards PeterH
  20. Hi Mike You are correct in your assumption. If you have a key or axis assigned in FS04 then that assignment has to be matched exactly in FSUIPC for it work without conflicts. If it is NOT assigned in FS04 then you can use FSUIPC to assign the keystroke(s). I always make sure that any assignments in my fs9.cfg match both my devices.cfg and FSUIPC.ini wherever possible. Regards PeterH
  21. Hi Pete and Bob Many thanks for the explanation. I have learned from your replies and found them invaluable. To PeteD; No I am not programming, I was trying understand where FSUIPC picked up its values from when you calibrate the various axes. You do need to know where its picking up the values from for instance if the axes sensitivity is set full right in assignments this is returned as 127 in fs9.cfg then FSUIPC will return a figure of 16,000+ in the calibration, likewise if this figure is 64 then FSUIPC will only show around 8000. The offsets comment was a joke, I read your forums avidly but when there is a question about offsets I could never understood how you could use them or where you put a particular value. I do now thanks to your explanation. Thanks again to both of you. PeterH
  22. Hi Pete Do you have any answers for my post a couple of days ago? Many Thanks PeterH
  23. Hi Pete This correspondent raised some good points and I have raised the following questions with Bob Church and the ones he didn't answer I have posted here to get your opinion. Your manuals are great but what a lot of computer literate people forget is that not all of us have the same understanding of what is written down about quite complex technical matters. This is NOT a criticism but just a statement of how I and other people of similar ilk understand computing. Believe me, I read your manuals from FS2000 onward after advice from Bob Church, over and over again and it can take me 2-3 days to understand what you are trying to say in those manuals, and I went to Wednesbury Boys High School. Now to the questions: Should the joystick settings in the fs9.cfg be EXACTLY the same as those settings in the devices.cfg, if not will that "confuse" FSUIPC? What is the purpose of the settings in a) fs9.cfg and b)devices.cfg? Why do we need both? Does allocating new settings in FS2004 via Assignments put these new values in the devices.cfg, fs9.cfg or both? Settings: In say an axis event, the settings vary and I would like to understand what the values mean? For example: AXIS_EVENT-00=AXIS_FUNCTION_SET AXIS_SCALE=127 (or -127) AXIS_NULL=1 or AXIS_EVENT-01=AXIS_FUNCTION_SET AXIS_SCALE=64 AXIS_NULL=36 My questions here are: In the AXIS_EVENT_00 number, Do these numbers ie 00, 01, 02, 03 ,04, 05, 06 have any significance? Do these numbers have to be in numerical order in the cfg file? Ie 00 before 01 etc? Do these number have to be in the same order as on the device, eg on the CHTQ we have six basic axes, and usually they are numbered 00 to 05 from left to right. Does the order matter? Why do we start at 00 and not 01? In the AXIS_SCALE: Do the numbers mean anything? Sometimes we have 127, or -127, or 64, etc. Are these values significant? Do they have anything to do with sensitivity settings in FS2004? Does the minus value indicate that the “reverse box “ is ticked in FS2004? In the AXIS_NULL: Do the numbers mean anything? Sometimes we have 0, or 1, or 36, etc. Are these values significant? Do they have anything to do with null settings in FS2004? Sometimes the values for a particular function are duplicated in the devices.cfg file and you have two different AXIS_EVENT_## numbers assigned to the same function in FS2004. (This is seen in a CH Products devices.cfg for a twin engine set up) [CH Pro Pedals USB]. Does the double entry affect handling? AXIS_EVENT_00=AXIS_LEFT_BRAKE_SET AXIS_SCALE_00=-127 AXIS_NULL_00=36 AXIS_EVENT_01=AXIS_RIGHT_BRAKE_SET AXIS_SCALE_01=-127 AXIS_NULL_01=36 AXIS_EVENT_02=AXIS_RUDDER_SET AXIS_SCALE_02=127 AXIS_NULL_02=1 AXIS_EVENT_06=AXIS_RUDDER_SET AXIS_SCALE_06=127 AXIS_NULL_06=1 BUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_00= BUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_01= Any help would be appreciated. When I finally comprehend what offsets are and what they do, will mean that I have finally seen the light!! PeterH aka Josiah W
  24. Hi Pete Fantastic Help. I understand how to do it now! Yours in pottering Regards pH aka ASS (Antipodean South Staffordian)
  25. Pete I need your help to assign (and calibrate) cowl flaps (single engine) to one of the spare levers (I chose the middle lever arbitrarily) on a CH Yoke (USB) using FSUIPC 3.48. I have read the manual(s) as thoroughly as I am able but I still need some clarification. In accordance with the instructions I have assigned the designated value (from the FS2004 list of controls), ie COWLFLAP1_SET 66162 in the [Joystick Calibration] section of the ini file. I then tried to assign the axis via "settings - joystick assignments" in FS2004 (to the middle lever on the CH Yoke) to Cowl Flaps, but could not achieve that, I could only assign a key stroke for cowl flaps. On starting FS2004, opening FSUIPC and going to Page 8 of the joystick set up for cowl flaps, I find that none of the levers on the yoke move any of the values on Page 8 for the cowl flaps. This is not surprising as I haven’t assigned anything in FS2004 for FSUIPC to work with. Therefore, I have obviously missed a step somewhere! My question is how to assign an axis or axes in FS2004 (to Cowl Flaps) so that it is assigned to the middle lever on the CH Yoke and hence FSUIPC can calibrate it? Hope you can help? Yours in Potting pH
