  1. The documentation that I have from Ver 8.5 shows a "Merge User Waypoint Databases" large button as part of the

    Database Manager.

I have not used this feature in the past; however, I do have many User Waypoints to share with another simmer that is also using FSC 8.6.

I tried by setting up FSC on another computer to see if it would show if I added a second mywpts.udb file to the Database Directory of FSC.

When I open Database Manger 8.6 this button is not there.

What procedures need to be followed to import my user Waypoints into another users waypoints?

  2. I am longing for a visit to the woods to re-acquaint myself with the storks, et al.

For those who do not rememer there was a wonderful paint done for the Cessna 206 by Paul Grenier.

He was kind enough to share it with me and changed the registration number to boot !

Recently (yesterday actually) I went and got the new Carenado FSX version and after a bit of tweaking It now has

the used Emma 206 that I enjoyed so much with FS9 and EFFC2004.

Hoping for Emma here is what she looks like now:

  3. Well,

I can only suggest that we all sing to this:

Oh, you can kiss me on a Monday a Monday a Monday

    is very very good

Or you can kiss me on a Tuesday a Tuesday a Tuesday

in fact I wish you would

Or you can kiss me on a Wednesday a Thursday a

Friday and Saturday is really the only one that is best

But never ever on a Sunday a Sunday a Sunday

cause that's my day of rest

  4. What a shame !

I hope that the fire-fighters do not take the Rapp for this.

I guess we will all have to pitch in and rebuild the field and make some improvements so that the back sections can no longer cause such a conflagration.

We might have to name the area to protect the innocent and put up a sign that can allow new members in with protective

    Flying Suits Xtrordinare.

  5. If you are interested in something less than a VA and more like a flying club have a look at the "Deer Valley Flying Club"

    http://www.flydeervalley.com

We fly anywhere and everywhere whenever with whomever we want and nobody gets upset.

We have weekly, weekend and ongoing monthly flying programs and special online events every month or so. Some of the chaps are experts at creating rather complex FSX missions that provide much enjoyment with little or no pain.

There is an age restriction! No kids allowed. (I think one must be over 25 to get in)

One of the big aspects is multi-pilot flying with both FS9 and FSX using FSInn and TS as the communication package. FSInn overcomes many of the problems experienced with FSHost.

I joined in early July and have not regretted a single moment of my time with them. :P

  6. I really enjoyed those videos Gary. Was the Killarney lodge that which is in Georgian Bay?

BTW, I have been waiting for something to buy from Francois and Co. and was very pleased to get Plum Island. I have only been there a bit but the scenery is well beyond anything that I have seen to date.

Kudos to Bill for a wonderful piece of work.

Guess we will have to hang around and pick plums for a while until Emma finishes baking that pie !

  7. Perhaps I can add a few quiet comments regarding this apparent issue.

It is quite true that there has been little activity on the EMMA server. If nobody seems to be there then those who look once in a while simply might give up.

I am part of a group that uses one of the private TS and FSHost servers provided by FSAddon with the kindness and guidance of Francois.

We use it regularly for predetermined Tours with published flight plans and have been doing so every Sunday for over a year and one half. We always have a minimum of three pilots at a predetermined time that is always posted on our forums and adhered to by those who really want to fly MP and enjoy the friends they have made over the years. One regular is in England, one is in South Africa, one is Central USA and there is myself from Canada. We seem to bumble along with these time differences and things are as good as it gets.

Our PC's are all different and we have a mix of FS2004 and FSX with differing levels of FSX, scenery, et al. We have our moments but we all are usually able to connect and enjoy these times.

How was it done ? Organize, advertise, make the flights interesting and the most important part was to have the lights on and somebody home at the advertised time every week.

What does it take? Out there somewhere is an Emma MP champion who will always be there for us. Without that champion no one comes to see the game.

Now I am off to review this Sunday's sunny Carribean flight so that I do not look too bad... again

  8. I liked the new helicopter and there are freeware gauges for it now for auto-hover as well as Auto-Pilot.

I like the P51 for flying although the F18 is a bit of a cad when it comes to landing. It simply wants to skid off the runway all the time.

I bought it in early October for the SP2 part but have enjoyed it.

It also made the experience smoother.

  9. Hi fellow Emmaites or should I say Emma's Flock :P

I thought that perhaps it might be a good idea or a reasonable idea or at least a good thought to add my 2 cents at this point.

I was one of the first Beta testers of the product and although my involvement amounted to less than something stellar I can make some comments about the product, the author and those who have embraced the concept.

When FSX first came out I thought to myself that these Missions would be a great way to provide training or Tours or whatever

to the VA that I am involved in. I also thought that someday there would be another or several EmmaX Missions in the offing that would be great fun to fly.

I did try out the SDK and after creating a simple Mission I thought to myself that ..This is way to difficult for a casual user like myself and I fell head first into the vat of #5 and really never did come out.

After being out of the loop for several months I then decided to see what was happening at the Beta project and there had been more than a casual amount of work done.

Starting from what may have been a facilitator of creating Missions the product has morphed into a Mission Creation and Packaging product. Yes, it does edit existing Missions provided that they are in xml format but the beauty of this product, at least for me, is the ability to take a standard FSX or FS9 or even an FSNavigator plan and once converted to an FSX plan (simple to do) it can be used to generate a complete Mission with visual aids, a helping voice along the way and a thoroughly enjoyable experience. This part of the program is only in the full version but for me it is worth it!

Once the basic Mission is created it is rather easy, after a little self-training, reading the manual or help from the Forum, to alter the text/Speech portions to suit your needs and the program can and does regenerate the voice part for you. You can even record your own voice with an outside recorder and swap that file with the one that was generated if you prefer your voice or that of someone else.

The really big thing for me is the ability to package this into an MS .msi package (Installer) that you can use to install, repair or remove with simple steps so sharing this wonderful creation with others is a relatively simple matter. You can use the standard FSX Mission Categories and the new Mission will be there for you or whomever you share it with.

If you want to get professional and add rewards and other more involved mission parts that may be associated with FSX RTM, SP1, SP2 or Acceleration this product does it as you can set the compatibility for any of the versions.

One of the things that the author Jim Keir has done is spend countless hours working on adapting the product to multiple Operating Systems (XP and Vista), endless improvements and striving for ease of use in a very complex area.

I would like to gone on record as having nothing but the highest regard for Jim and those devoted testers who have gone beyond expectations to put forward a truly amazing product that will let you create a flight plan and within 10 minutes or less (with the payware Mission Wizard) you have a fully flyable FSX Mission with text display, compass and voice guidance on your system.

A few minutes after your satisfied with the Mission you can then produce an installable version with only a few mouse clicks.

Trust Me ! I would not be writing this if I was not completely certain of the ease of use and functionality that is only a few clicks away. (reading the manual makes those clicks much easier to perform too

If you really want to create Missions then go for the trial and before long you will want the paid version. It will help to keep the product alive and provide you, the user and your FSX friends with a rather compelling experience.

P.S. If I have mis-stated something or made some outrageously incorrect comment please forgive me as I am only trying to let you all know that this product has impressed me beyond expectations.

  10. Hi Puppy,

Yep, the USB TV Tuner thingy is the best bet. Mine is a NEXTech Computer TV Box Model 2516499

that I think I got from Radio Shack (now The Source). Not the cheapest but it works like a charm.

..and we are also freezing here in Sunny Southern Ontario. High winds and -35C wind chill. Really not suitable for human habitation.

  11. Hi Puppy,

I have done these things myself so perhaps my previous exploits may be of benefit.

What I have is a small USB video converter device that allows me to connect the VHS playback/Camcorder, etc.

and save the resulting video file (the device comes with the recording software) to the computer. The one I have allows connection of several formats including S-Video.

You can get these at just about any PC/Audio shop, Radio Shack, etc. and they go for a few bucks to over a hundred depending on what you are looking for. Usually the S-Video jack on a standard graphics card is for output rather than input.

Maybe your graphics card is a TV ready card and if so then maybe you have everything you need already. I am not entirely familiar with the 7900GS.

I can then use that file or files , say, in Windows Moviemaker to create a compilation of many different files and then burn that to a DVD and preferably a DVD +R as opposed to a DVD -R as the former works properly in DVD playback systems.

  12. Dan,

Having you there today was a tribute to the wonderfulness of what Emma Field is all about.

May we be blessed with your participation as time goes by.

P.S. Please try not to be so bad with Bambie's anymore. There are some particular special bambies at Emma and using Winchesters to get their attention is not what Fritz had in mind.

  13. May I echo my sentiments of appreciation as well.

Many thanks to Puppy, his wife and family for allowing him the time to do this. May his dear friend the family dog also wag his/her tail in appreciation. Puppy's work was wonderful even if we did not really have time to appreciate the delightful delicacies provided at each of his airport creations. Even as we move forward to the new version of Emma I will keep PuppyLand as a reminder of this wonderful event.

Gary has, as always come forward with exceptional support and provided much help to participants.

Anytime that Gary wishes to land before me he has my unconditional allowance to do so. I may even be waiting at the pilot's lounge with a spot of #5 for him.

I also would like to thank all of the other participants and the wonderful opportunity to meet you all in an EFFC event. May there be many more to come.

    P.S. The BG's are awesome 8)
