  1. Bombs Away!

Can you come up with a pic of the resulting craters smoldering after impact? Brings to mind the scenes of the golfcourse after Bill Murray's character blows it up chasing gophers in the movie "Caddyshack"! :D

This would require some safety barricades, and yes... safety LIGHTS near the runway! This is all for a good cause mind you, since we want to keep Fritz from stumbling in there at night when he is "inspecting the grounds" in his "random grid" walking pattern after drinking all evening at the clubhouse.

  2. OK Francois, no problem. Besides, I kinda like the title of this accidental new thread anyway!

Can you tell me his new moniker, or has he joined the witness protection program for disenfranchised flamers (...or "flamees") for posting with extreme and unusual metaphors?!!!

I'd like to see a bantering smackdown match between "Don I." and "Dr. Phil" the Texan PhD counselor who apparently got burned out on private practice, and then got launched into his own U.S. network TV show by way of guest appearances on the Oprah Winfrey TV show after he consulted with her when she got sued by the Amarillo Texas based Beef producers group for badmouthing hamburger meat (she was apparently very psychologically traumatized by being at risk for losing big bucks if they won judgement against her in the lawsuit).

Anyway, Dr. Phil is reknowned in the USA for his obtuse Texan-style "country-fied" metaphors to presumably illustrate the absurdity of human behavioral foibles when confronting them on network TV to, I presume, somehow help the rest of us see our own human foibles in the 10 minutes he seems to be intervening in the subjects' lives on some shows. His style has been the subject of great parodies on Saturday Night Live on NBC TV on several occasions. He also reportedly drives his Ferrari (or is it a Lamborgini?) at 30 miles per hour, I presume, because he's such a down to earth law-abiding individual!

Given that introduction, I rest my case that this would be a great match up for a bantering smackdown! Maybe we could host a virtual match at the EFFC Clubhouse sometime!

...Just an idea for some fun!

PS: Hey Chris, did you chase that link I gave above? You won't believe the avatar pic Don used in that forum (...or maybe you'll get some more ideas!). I think we should have an alternate members picture gallery for EFFC with a contest for the most outrageous avatar picture. Maybe we could award a prize with a product from FSAddon? Heh Heh, whaddya think Francois?

  3. Hi Chris,

I gotta learn how to do on-line flying and try out one of those models in your hangar! Hope I can get some time this spring to join you and others in a flight out there at Emma Field and perhaps one of the tours.

Thanks to all for keeping the Emma-inspiration level so high, I'm way over-commited at the office lately, but looking forward to some new adventures soon.

By the way Chris, you wouldn't by any chance be related to Bushsimmer Jack (Don l.) Donnelly would you? You remind me of him somewhat, and I get a kick out out the humor in your posts, as well as those of others such as Don Smith (maybe I'll see you in Wisconsin sometime Don!). I think we could all dream up some more real mischief here if we put our minds to it!

But speaking of Don I., anybody seem hide or hair of him lately? I have only found one recent and typically over-the-top post by him at an FSG forum here: http://portal.fsgenesis.net/index.php?npic&t=2979 ; my reply is on the following page.

I posted a later reply to him, but he probably missed it as he seems occupied elsewhere. Just in case he stops by to read this: Don, Your Emma-nence, please come back to visit now and then, we miss you!

In the mean time, as "aeronautic acolytes of the crazy wisdom", we should follow in the footsteps of the Don the Master and keep things lively around here. Hmmm... lets see... How about planting some real tall sunflowers in the dirt pile near the south end of the Emma runway and then place bets on how long it takes Fritz to go after them with his weed whacker?!!! Yeah, I know, too tame; we can come up with something more outrageous than that, can't we?!!!

  4. Emerauder:

Thanks so much for taking the time to share your tales and photos about Emma Field and "our" related areas from time to time. I think this post was one of the best yet in conveying the experience one might have out where you live.

I look forward to visiting out there sometime, and perhaps we might meet along the way. I'm gradually gathering ideas on where and how to post the choicest photos I would take so our fellow Emmaites can view them without EFFC taking the bandwidth hit.

Something to dream about... being "at play in the (air) fields of the Lord"

  5. Hey, welcome to Emma Field. Don't forget to read all the prior posts still available for browsing, and you'll get the real inside scoop on the gang that frequents this great place; some really hilarious and very informative stuff you might not encounter elsewhere in the FS web community.

Yeah, its a little too quiet sometimes as many aviators are adventurers that go flying elsewhere. But I think that most of Emmaites still check in here often, even if they don't actively post as often as they have in the past. So you're in good company here, and it really is a spiritual home to all of us in between journeys, as Tom said above!

Always cook your barbequed meats to a minimum 165 degrees farenheit temperature in the center, because Fritz may not have cleaned the grill lately. Oh, and watch out for the bar cheese at the clubhouse. I've been asking Fritzois to exercise due diligence in his purchasing so we don't get the same one that Dexter's Bar and Grill has, and I'm not sure if he changed brands yet. By the way, I think I heard Fritzois got pinched by the cop that sits down behind the billboard on highway 101 between Hoodsport and Lilliwaup southeast of Emma Field and Lake Cushman. When he says he's going out to "cruise 101" he really means he'll be cruising at 101 mph (those fines will cut into the maintenance budget for the BMW cycle mon ami!)

Again, welcome to one of the finest places in the FS web community, and please, ...raise a ruckus here!

  6. Hi Chris:

Thanks for "stirring up the natives" with some action again! :D I hope to post a few screenies myself sometime... hope Fritz doesn't mind a little bandwidth expediture now and then!

I always enjoy the posts with screenshots of some mischievous flying at Emma; isn't it great to engage in some stunts with total impunity that we might not be able to pull off in real life? I remember some really outrageous fun posts here you might never see elsewhere in the FS community of websites.

I have also seen some highly informative posts with both local and linked content that has revolutionized my ability to enjoy flight simming immensely. Emma is an outstanding place to visit and belong. And we owe so much to Francois who fostered the idea of EFFC and the development of this place we call home.

I have also enjoyed very much the posts by real world flyers telling of their adventures in the PNW, especially when they visit those Georender sites we know and love. Its a real treat when they share their pictures with us too!

I hope to visit the PNW someday, and as a photographer of former professional avocation, I plan to visit at least some of the Georender sites and take photos which I would be glad to share with my fellow FS PNW enthisiasts online. I would welcome input on how and where this could be done without unduly burdening anyone's bandwith costs.

Also, I would be glad to share some pix and videos of my own real world flights with my colleague as I described later in the thread of one of my posts about Emma here: http://www.flightsim-bevs.com/smf_1-0-5pic=1380.0 and here: http://www.flightsim-bevs.com/smf_1-0-5pic=1433.0

Our real world flying experiences involve a Lake Amphibian LA4-200 EP (Extended 2 blade Prop; shaped like a smaller Renegade, and without the turbo) traveling between Chicago-DuPage KDPA, Lake Wisconsin-Diedrich 11WN / Baraboo-Dells KDLL (20+ miles north of Madison WI), Door County Peninsula-Ephraim-Fish Creek WI 3D2, Chambers Island 30WI in the middle of Green Bay, and of course Oshkosh WI KOSH at the nearby seaplane base Vette 96WI every chance I get. Not as scenic as the PNW, but a post-glacial playground for us flatlanders here in the midwest! (And in the winter I gotta make do with FS2004 and a BIG monitor.) I would be glad to share more details about our adventures, from time to time, if there would be any interest among EFFC members here. One thing I can promise you: after you've done take-offs, landings, and touch-and-go's in an amphibian, you'll never look at planes quite the same way again!

Well thanks for being here everyone, and I look forward to more good times, comeraderie and learning here at the EFFC Forum!

  7. Thanks to all for welcoming me out of the shadows! Yup, that was me leaving the 20's on the bar. I thought it might be a good idea so's we can afford some better bar cheese when Fritz goes shopping for supplies in Lilliwaup.

Francois, could you tell Fritz not to get the same cheese that Dexter serves at his place?...Might contribute to an in-cockpit spontaneous microburst :!: .

(see my other post with gratuitous references to Emma Field's cheese, Misty Fiords, Heather Sherman's Mile High Club, and Monty Python sketches at: http://www.flightsim-bevs.com/smf_1-0-5pic=1380.0)

And yes, this is the first site I check every day as well, before venturing forth on the web; it's great to have this place here!

  8. Hi All!

I've been here a long time as a lurker, faithfully checking this site at least daily if not more, even during the "dry spells" for all its wit and wisdom. I am leaving the anonymous mode, and now plan to participate as I feel ready to join the fun as a full participant.:D

I wanted to inform you of a post I made on the BEV "EZ-Scenery Users Helping Users Forum" regarding EFFC and all the goings-on that we all enjoy here. I think you might get a kick out of this one!

    Check this out: http://www.flightsim-bevs.com/smf_1-0-568#msg8968
