Egbert Drenth Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 Hi, Yesterday I bought the TQ and configured it using the CH Control Manager. Also I assigned one of the axis to the spoiler, which works fine. However I would like to accomplish the following: Lever is down -> spoiler down Lever goes a bit up to detent position -> spoiler is armed Lever goes further up -> spoiler goes up I searched on this forum but couldn't find any clues. Can this be done? And if yes, how? Thanks for your help! Egbert
Pete Dowson Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 Lever is down -> spoiler down Lever goes a bit up to detent position -> spoiler is armed Lever goes further up -> spoiler goes up Somewhere along the calibrated range of the axis, the arming should occur. You'll just need to find the position and mark it. A possible enhancement to FSUIPC's spoiler calibration, which I'll consider, is having a "centre zone" (labelled as "Arm"), which can be calibrated off-centre, so to speak, and give a range of values able to arm the spoiler. I'll have a look, see if I can squeeze it in. Note that, in FS2002 and FS2004, when calibrating and testing your spoiler axis, do it with the aircraft in the air. If you pass through the "arm" values when the aircraft is on the ground, the auto-deployment is usually activated and it'll go directly to 100% Regards, Pete
Pete Dowson Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 Lever goes a bit up to detent position -> spoiler is armed I just occurred to me that the CH quadrant has buttons operating at the detente in any case, so you should be able to use the CH manager to calibrate the axis range before the detente all to give zero (spoilers down), use the button to send FS the Spoiler Arm control, then the rest of the movement to give 1-100% deployment. Check Bob Church's stuff on this. To quote him from another thread near here: I did do an article on setting up the Quad with or without FSUIPC and with or without the Control Manager. It's on the "Files" page on my website, http://www.stickworks.com. Look for CMNOTE02.ZIP, there's a WordPad .DOC file in the zip that gives some tips on how to set it up and get it all to work. Let me know. I won't have time to change FSUIPC again before I release 3.48 and it may be a few more weeks before I can look at doing any spoiler calibration changes. Regards, Pete
Egbert Drenth Posted April 24, 2005 Author Report Posted April 24, 2005 Hi Pete, Thanks for your help, I'll try to do it as you suggested.
bennubird Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 Egbert, I've had the TQ now for a few months and enjoy it immensely. My experience has been that with certain panels, e.g., Tony D'Ambrosio's 777 panel, the spoiler works just as you would like. It is armed in the detente position and extends according to the amount you activate it. I've also found that on certain panels once I activate the spoiler it will not come down using the same lever arm, so I also set aside a toggle button mainly for the purpose of lowering the spoiler to the neutral position. While you're waiting for Pete to make the changes he is considering, if you're like me and like to tinker, experiment by trying a few different aircraft and see how they respond.
B42L8 Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 I have a similar problem......read somewhere that I could calibrate my yoke and pedals from FSUIP..........tried but now the two levers on the yoke (Left one for engine 1 and right for engfine 2) do not work evenly.............tried to recalibrate on CH site and in FS, but will not overide...........any way to get them back to default from FSUIP?? Thanks, Dick Leonard :?
B42L8 Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 Finally figured out how to calibrate the yoke and pedals..........this is GREAT!! not sure everything is correct yet but atleast know there is better control with FSUIP than the default........everyone with the registered version should be aware of this great feature makes flying a very different and responsive experience,, thanks for this PS, disregard my previous post, when all else fails, Read the instructions!!
bennubird Posted May 8, 2005 Report Posted May 8, 2005 Dick, I solved my most frustrating problems with calibration by setting my sensitivies to high. In some cases they were actually turned off. Glad to read you found the solution you were looking for. Charles
