Which FSUIPC TO DOWNLOAD

Recommended Posts

Hello

I am a new user of this site. I have purchased a copy of 'Harrier Jump Jet' . The installation instructions require ' --- must have a (free) copy of FSUIPC running in FSX --- ' .

I am unfamilar with this site and , since I am a bit of a novice with f/sim's, I am unclear as to how to get, and implement, the required download. I do see a download FSUIPC 4 4.70(B). Is this what I need? What is the purpose of this download when running the Harrier jet?

A further problem was encountered, which may not be a cauased by the site, but perhaps someone could help. When registering for the forum, at the bottom of the form there should be a little picture of letters and numbers (code?) which have to be copied for security. I could not see that security picture on my PC and I had to go to another PC to register. Can anyone suggest what might be wrong with the setup on my PC that might cause this feature?

Thanks. Ray

I have a problem with the FSUIPC4 file.

You seem to have tacked a quoted email (?) onto a Support Forum thread from last year dealing with a different subject.

I've no idea what it is you mean by all that. Please stop and try to expain what your problem is, because the above makes no sense I'm afraid.

What is the Version number of the FSUIPC4 you have? If it isn't a recent one (4.758 is the latest Installer and he latest update is 4.761 -- both available from the Download Links subforum).

If you have a problem instlaling it or running it I need to see the log files. You will find an Install log and an FSUIPC4 log in the FSX Modules folder. Paste them into a message here along with a clear explanation of what your problem is. Close FSX down first.

I purchased FSUIPC4(2068) from simFlight GmbH VIA simmarket.

What does "2068" mean in this context? And, incidentally, why did you purchase FSUIPC -- what was your intended use when you purchased it? Why didn't you install it and check it was what you wanted first?

Regards

Pete

I separated this gentleman's post out into its own thread last night, because he had tagged it on to an announcement post in the FSX forum.

It was here when I authorised it, but now seems to have gone walkies and a quoted version is here instead...?

Only the deities of IP.Board know what's going on there. Sorry.

Sorry Pete

This is my first visit to any forum and my PC knowledge is limited. I was keen to get online with FSX. The FSUIPC looked to be a good starting point.I do realise now that it is available free. My simmarket order states FSUIPC4(2068) the download instruction gave it as 4.70b. On downloading through WinRAR, installing and registering I find the add-on in FSX as it should be.The dropdown gives my the page with all the goodies on. When I run FSX, it loads the file for the flight or mission and then crashes to the desk top.

I am sorry again but I do not know were to locate the FSX Modules folder.

I have also tried with the download from schiratti.com, same problem. Please let me know if I am in the wrong forum.

Regards and thanks for your patience.

My simmarket order states FSUIPC4(2068) the download instruction gave it as 4.70b.

The SimMarket page, which is where you pay for the Key, only gives a link to the download site. The version downloaded is updated from time to time, though Mr. Schiratti doesn't update the text very often. To check the version you are using, look at the Options in FSX, or look at the first line of the Log in the FSX Modules folder, or simply right-click on the FSUIPC4.DLL itself and look at the version number in its Properies.

On downloading through WinRAR, installing and registering I find the add-on in FSX as it should be.The dropdown gives my the page with all the goodies on.

I assume you mean Add-Ons menu, FSUIPC? In that case you should know the version number, as it is displayed on the first tab.

When I run FSX, it loads the file for the flight or mission and then crashes to the desk top.

I am sorry again but I do not know were to locate the FSX Modules folder.

The FSX modules folder is the Modules folder inside your FSX installation. Assuming you let FSX install itself where it wanted to go, FSX will be in the Mcrosoft Games folder in Program Files. The first thing any FS user needs to know is where his FS is!

I have also tried with the download from schiratti.com

If it wasn't Schiratti.com you went to first off, where on Earth was it? There's only the two places - Schiratti and, for latest updates, here in the Download Links subforum as I said.

I'm afraid I cannot help further without information, and the best will be in the Log files I mentioned.

Regards

Pete

Paste "icons"? "cdm"? Sorry, you've lost me.

To paste text into a message you select it from the editor you are viewing it in, select "copy" then place your mouse cursor in the message and select "paste". These are normal editing options. Have you never used an editor? Try right clicking your mouse.

In the directory listing you've inexplicably entered by long-hand into your last message, these are the files I need to see:

FSUIPC4 Install Text 5KB

FSUIPC4 Text Doc 2KB

You have Windows set to hide the real names from you. In fact "FSUIPC4 Install" is "FSUIPC4 Install.log" and "FSUIPC4" is "FSUIPC4.LOG". They are both normal text files which wil open in notepad or your selected editor if you double click them.

Receipt is the cash I paid out

But why did you post it? It is of no interest or relevance here.

Pete

I copied and pasted the invoice to you. ! So I know how to. Pasting the file in the same way did not work. I saw the icons in message box. Requires ( Ctrl/Cmd +v) and hit OK.. So I am asking what key is Cmd ? I sense you have had a long day and would like me to go away. One last request. Having found the file in modules how do I uninstall.

Enjoy your evening, Thanks very much for your time.

I copied and pasted the invoice to you.

Yes, I know. But I don't understand why, that's why I asked why you did it!

Pasting the file in the same way did not work.

Don't try "pasting a file", paste the TEXT inside the file. You have to open it in a text editor first -- like Norepad. Try double clicking on the file to open it.

I sense you have had a long day and would like me to go away.

Sorry, I just feel frustrated not being able to explain complete fundamentals. I really have no idea how anyone can even use FS without knowing al ittle about what files are and how to view them. Sorry. It is my failing. Maybe someone else who can think as a pure beginner can help. I've been involved with computers since 1963 and cannot work out how to explain things which are too obvious to me. It isn't your fault, but mine.

Having found the file in modules how do I uninstall.

As the User Guide tells you, just delete (or rename) the program, FSUIPC4.DLL. There's nothing else running. That's it, the whole FSUIPC.

I will find the answer to my basic problem. That is the FSUIPC4 is not working for me.

Okay. I'm sure it must be something simple as it works for so many folks without any issues whatsoever. But without any information at all I don't see how anyone can help. The reason FSUIPC4 makes log files is to record enough information to resolve any problems or other questions. Without any sight of those it is well nigh impossible. You are the first ever user in the 14 years of FSUIPC who, after asking for help, couldn't show this information. Such a shame.

Start(Win) => Command(Cmd)

Cmd is between Ctrl & Alt Keys

Not sure of the relevance of this. If it's in relation to cut and paste or copy and paste, I normally use the normal right-click popup menus. Easier than remembering keystrokes and fumbling about with multiple key presses. In fact, including the double click on the log (text) files themselves in order to open them in an editor, it's pretty much all mouse work.

Regards

Pete
