fsuipc error

Recommended Posts

I have bought an upgrade for fsuipc.  It is version  4.91.

I moved your message to the Support Forum. For some reason you posted TWO identical copies in the Download Links subforum, where it won't get answered. I've deleted the duplicate.

4.91 is the earliest supported release for FSX and P3D. What did you actually 'upgrade' from?

When I startt fsx I get a message advising me not to use it.

Did it give any reason? Did you run it in any case? Are you sure this is not the occasional but annoying SimConnect problem which is covered in the FAQ subforum?

I also have to pay the full price for the upgrade with Simmarket as they said they don't give discounts

You don't need to purchase FSUIPC4 again if you already purchased it. You get lifetime updates (upgrades) free. So why did you pay again? Or are you now moving to FSX from FS9 and therefore changing from FSUIPC3 to FSUIPC4? That isn't an 'upgrade'. They are different products, each with its own price.

Thanks Pete

Where do I get this free upgrade from? The message said it had found a problem with a third party piece of software. I may have that simconnect problem you mentioned because I can't start fsx.

I upgraded by going to simmarket and it was the only download I could find

FSUIPC is downloadable from the Schiratti site, where it has been now for many many years, and here in Download Links. There's no separate "free" and "paid for" versions. They are the same downloads. The only thing you get when you pay for it is a key to unlock the user facilities. That's all SimMarket supplies. You have never needed the key to download it or install it.

The message said it had found a problem with a third party piece of software.

And nothing else? No information, nothing? No option to continue?

I may have that simconnect problem you mentioned because I can't start fsx.

Best refer to the FAQ subforum, then, where there's a thread about that.

SimMarket doesn't provide FSUIPC.  It simply provides a link to the Schiratti site where you can download it, as you can at any time. In fact you are expected to keep it up to date if you want support. It have been updated many times per year for the last 14 years, and ALL of them have been downloadable from the Schiratti site.

You found your way here. How did you do that? If you can find your way here how come you can't find out where to get FSUIPC from? Have you ever looked in the documentation at all? Did you read the Installation guide which tells you where things are?

I finally got fsx to boot but only because fsuipc was not present. As soon as I reinstalled it fsx came up with the message about problems with fsuipc and recommended that i did not continue. When I do say 'yes' fsx just hangs forever at the opening page. I have read the piece on simconnect problems but it only seems to have a problem with fsuipc

Without any more details, which you seem reluctant to supply, it is difficuilt to help you. You say "SimConnect only has a problem with FSUIPC", which implies that you have other add-ons using SimConnect. Perhaps you could please list them?

Normally, if the message you are getting is the one I think it is (and it isn't easy to tell from what you say), FSUIPC isn't even being loaded, so it cannot possibly cause a problem by the time you get the message. If  FSX actually proceeds but then hangs if you allow it to load FSUIPC, then if FSUIPC is actually loaded there will be a LOG file in the FS Modules folder.

So please do three things:

1. Provide more information about the actual error initially reported. All you've said so far is "I get a message advising me not to use it.". I need more details than that. Check in the Windows error log, see what errors it details from FSX.EXE. There will be more details there. The error log can be seen by entering "event viewer" in the Start edit field, then selecting Windows Logs -- Application.

2. Look in the FS Modules folder. There will certainly be an FSUIPC4 Install log file. Paste that here. And see if there is an FSUIPC4 Log file. If so, paste that here too. If not, tell me -- that means FSUIPC has never actually been run.

3. Get a SimConnect log file. There's a FAQ subforum thread on how to do that. Paste that here too.

Pete

Sorry Pete but I have searched everywhere for simconnect but cannot find it.

Sorry, what are you searching for? Don't look for "simconnect", I don't know why you are doing that.

The event viewer seems to contain nothing.

There are no entries at all in Event Viewer - Windows Logs - Applications? Nothing? Or do you mean no errors at all listed for FSX? If so then something is playing tricks on you, because there's no way you'd get that error message otherwise.

I have the fsuipc log but guess that's no good without the others.

That's not true! If it is current it will at least show how far it got. There are certain places which are significant. And the fact that there is a current log means that it isn't that SimConnect problem -- FSUIPC must actually be getting loaded. So it is more likely a hardware or driver problem, causing difficulties in the joystick scan. If so then I can tell you how to ( a ) prove it, and ( b )  get more information.

I have completely re- loaded fsx. The fsuipc installed ok and fsx loaded without problem. I then downloaded the DBS follow me car. The car did not appear in addon ons as it should but from then on whenever I start fsx I get the message about a problem with third party software and I am asked if I want to continue (the usual message). I have removed the car but am back to square one with the warning message and hanging fsx......

The DBS software involves more than a car -- isn't there a DLL also loading? Did you edit the DLL.XML file?

Did you not see my last message?  I can't really help without information. Have you tried DBS support at all?

I am unable to send fsuipc log as the paste is grey out. The event viewer I am unable to interpret/workout.

DBS have not answered emails for the last 4 days. I have not edited the XML s I wouldn't be able to find it or have reason to change it. I'm afraid a lot of this is beyond me.

Hi Pete

fsuipc log. A small, beginning...

Found FSX.CFG in "C:\Users\Martin\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\FSX.CFG"

Now checking DLL.XML ...

... There is a previous DLL.XML, checking for FSUIPC4 section.

... FSUIPC4 section already exists but will be replaced.

(for FSUIPC4, without Loader)

... FSUIPC4 section of DLL.XML written okay

Now checking for a SimConnect.XML file ...

... No SimConnect.XML file found. This is okay.

Looking in "C:\Users\Public\AppData\Roaming"

... No FSX.CFG there

Looking in "C:\Users\UpdatusUser\AppData\Roaming"

... No FSX.CFG there

"Modules\FSUIPC Documents" folder already exists.

Now installing additional files into the "Modules\FSUIPC Documents" folder:

Installed "FSUIPC4 User Guide.pdf" okay

Installed "FSUIPC4 for Advanced Users.pdf" okay

Those are NOT from "FSUIPC4.LOG".  They appear to be two small fragments of the FSUIPC4 Installer log, nothing to do with FSUIPC actually running. If that's all there is of the Installer log, then I don't think you have FSUIPC installed properly at all!

Please look again.

Hi Pete.  Hope this is ok.

Well, not entirely. To start with you are using an unsupported version of FSUIPC.

********* FSUIPC4, Version 4.90 by Pete Dowson *********

Version 4.91 is the earliest supported version for FSX.

But the log does clearly show that FSUIPC isd working fine, and is most certainly not responsible for "hanging" your FSX. It continued okay and terminated normally, and FSX was running okay for nearly 8 minutes with an average frae rate of 22.9fps.

So, it looks like that DBS program is messing you about.

...

43025 FollowMe service initialised and ready ...

459157 Sim stopped: average frame rate for last 418 secs = 22.9 fps

   463104 System time = 29/08/2013 09:18:13, Simulator time = 09:10:53 (08:10Z)

463104 *** FSUIPC log file being closed

Average frame rate for running time of 418 secs = 22.9 fps

G3D fix: Passes 17566, Null pointers 0, Bad pointers 0, Separate instances 0

Memory managed: 4 Allocs, 4 Freed

********* FSUIPC Log file closed ***********

That message "FollowMe service initialised and ready" intrigues me. The only program I know which uses that is the one by Daniel van Os which was discontinued in 2011. The interface in FSUIPC4 was mainly to allow the as yet unreleased Version 5 of Radar Contact to get taxi routes generated by Daniel's FollowMe.  It actually looks like RCV5 will never appear either, so the code in FSUIPC4 is really pretty redundant -- I should probably remove it. What I don't understand is what DBS's software is doing with it -- or are you actually running Daniel's "FollowMe2"?

Regards

Pete
