Great work thanks as I have had to reinstall fsx with steam following problems running under windows 8.1 However when I run the installer it never asks for registration details at the end and FSX shows it is running an unregistered version. Is it possible to register with this set up ie fsx steam on windows 8.1  I cannot attach the log file as I get a message saying you aren't permitted to upload this kind of file  so a copy is below

However when I run the installer it never asks for registration details at the end

You must have aborted it before it finished then and it cannot finish normally without asking this. Were there any messages? . Where is the Install log, please? Paste it here. I cannot help without any information.

No, that's the run-time log from FSUIPC version 4.939d, the same one you posted before, and proving it installed fine. The install log actually has install in the name.

I just downloaded FSUIPC and now it's 4.947 for windows 7 pro 64 bit and FSXSE from  http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html  Hopefully this fixes my joystick problem. I can use it but after being on auto pilot for a while  I loose my joystick. When I check it in FSXSE, it's shows working correctly and I can calibrate it but it doesn't. I've been working on this problem for months. Same thing happens in windows 8, 8.1 and 10. Logitech says this new extreme pro 3d joystick is compatible with all versions of windows. I did check the properties of it in device manager and I unchecked the box to allow windows to turn it off to save power and I tried setting it to works as a vista unit, made no difference. It's plugged in to the rear of the system directly into the motherboard not the usb extension cable running up front. It was suggested to plug it into the usb 3 port but it won't go it. Mickeysoft says it's a problem with Logitech's software because it auto installs into program files not the C drive. Logitech says it's a problem with FSXSE and I have to admit it didn't happen with the box version of FSX...........Everyone blames the other but no one wants to fix the problem. All of the websites for FSX have people complaining abut this issue.....I'll let you know if this fixed it. Thanks for all your years of helping us poor souls to at least fly in our dream. Well that used to work okay in Win7 and but it seems it isn't enough in Win8. I don't know about Win10, but that may be the same.

I'm afraid I don't know enough about Win8 /10 to help further directly, but I think there is someething else you can do to stop joystick devices getting "turned off". Maybe a Google search will find it. It has probably been posted here somewhere, but the search for such a mention is pretty well impossibble to frame and i've not managed.

No, there's absolutely no difference in this area between any of the 4 versions of FSX, and FSX-SE, or any version of FSUIPC for that matter. It's all standard Windows "DirectInput" programming, standard calls into standard software. It's something to do with Win8 /10 and I think there's a way to fix it. I just don't know what it is.

I'll ask someone who I think knows about this ...

Hi I just made some add ons to my fsx-steam, particularly the weather generator FSXWX, AND ALSO INATALLED FSUIPC v4., but when it is trying to connect I get the message FSUIPC connection failed. Appreciate advice on how I can correct this. Thanks

If thats a message from the add-on, then you need the support of the add-on provider.

Is FSUIPC4 installed correctly - can you see it in your Add-on menu?

One thing to note is that if your sim is started with admin privileges (as it usually is if installed in your Programs folder), then any 3rd party software that communicates with FSUIPC must also be started with the same privileges, otherwise it cannot connect.

Good morning Peter

Sorry about adding this string, but couldnt find a way to do a fresh post.

I recently purchased your FSUIPC4 off of Simmarket, but after downoloading and unzipping I couldnt find an installation file. Am I missing something or just being a bit thick.

I have tried to attache a screenshot to show what unzipped, but it doesnt want to play ball.

You use the big "New Topic" button, on the right at the top of this part of the Forum!

What was the name of the file you downloaded, and where did you get it from (what website?). The one here and the one on FSUIPC.com gets you a ZIP file with these files in it.  Read the document (pdf). The installer is the file called "Install FSUIPC4.exe". If your ZIP doesn't look like this then you've downloaded something else, not the file we provide.

It IS there. Pete posted the contents - if you see something different then please post a screenshot so that we can see what you can.  If you are not seeing the extensions, it is because of your Explorer view settings, but the files should be there non the less. We need this information from you to help you....

32/64 bit is mentioned. Win versions are only mentioned when applicable.

John

P.S. Another possibility is that you have some antivirus software running that is removing/quarantining the exe. So check your antivirus settings/history.

Good morning John

Panic over.

Just downloaded again, after I had disabled my Firewall, just in case as you mentioned above, and low and behold there it was. Now all installed and registered.

Now need to go and play with it..

Also noted to 64bit question.

Thanks to both of you for your assistance in this.

Hi

Sorry for the late reply.

When i press YES the FSX will be off. and it will not run again with an error msg from steams says that FSX turn off with unexpected error. so in that case i should logoff from steam with ENDTASK. to run it again with the same msg.

When I press NO. FSX will run normally without FSUIPC4 .

Thanks again

We need a lot more information!

First, though, please get the latest FSUIPC 4 (4.976), available in the Download Links subforum.

Then, if there's still a problem, we need NOT the "Install" log, but the run time log. (FSUIPC4.LOg). Also go to Windows Event Viewer and find the last crash details referring to FSX.EXE. We need those details too.

Pete
