At the moment the dead zone is too wide which makes the ailerons very "sloppy". There might be something wrong with my Saitek, but I bought FSUIPC4 to try and correct it. In the manual it gives instructions but it doesn't seem to work. I have tried to set the numbers in the .ini file but they seems to get corrected if they aren't what is expected. What numbers should I try to narrow the gap so that the ailerons work virtually continuously from side to side. At the moment the settings in the .ini file are: Aileron=-16193,500,-500,16192/8 SlopeAileron=2 When in fsx, the FSUIPC "joystick" settings get changed so the the left hand column values are 0 and 250 setting it: Aileron=-16193,-1,+1,16192/8 doesn't make it better. At the moment the settings in the .ini file are: Aileron=-16193,500,-500,16192/8 SlopeAileron=2 The -500 to +500 is so small (1/32nd of the travel) that it is hardly likely to be noticeable. But if you want a linear response why on earth have you selected a slope? That's much more likely to be the problem. And if you are assigning in FS, don't forget to set the sliders there correctly -- maximum sensitivity, minimum null zone. When in fsx, the FSUIPC "joystick" settings get changed so the the left hand column values are 0 and 250 FSUIPC never changes the values in the INI file by itself. You'd need to go into the Calibration settings and do something there to change them. Do you really mean the IN and OUT values on the left in the calibration tab? Unless you are trying to fiddle the calibration to do something completely out of the ordinary (like limiting the amount of control you get) you NEVER need to edit calibration values directly in the INI file. ALWAYS use the calibration tab in FSUIPC options. What is the "/8" One of the options on the calibration you have selected. You'll see it checked there. I'd need to look up the code to find out ... let's see:... ah, yes, "Filter". You have the control filtered! Why? That could actually make it a bit sluggish as it has to average readings over a number of steps each time. It's only for circumstances like a very jittery device (dirt?0, or poor power supply making the readings vary because of voltage changes. Pete

I understand about slope but just for arguments sake I have set it to a straight line. When I am in the calibration tag, the in and out values stay at "0" for too long with my yoke system - in other words, if the yoke is moved from from the centre one way, slowly, the "in" value doesn't change for ages, then when it does change and the yoke is moved in the other direction it take age for the "out" value to move from "0". Pressing the middle "set" button copies the values from "in out" to the middle (except I can't put a + value in top line with a - value in the bottom line, but I don't understand what those values do anyway), but the "in out" values still stay at "0" for too long whatever I do. That's why I tried changing the values in the .ini file... Thanks

No amount of software calibration can change that.

It's installed on your computer and everything is explained there very well.So maybe you return to the documents. I own the Saitek yoke for many years and it's absolutely no problem to calibrate it following the explanations. Reading really helps in that case :???: Rgds Reinhard

I promise I have read it over and over, but following the instructions doesn't seem to make sense and doesn't work for me. I think the dead zone on my Saitek is just too much for FSUIPC to compensate for. I was thinking of contacting Saitek but probably won't be any use. The reason I was changing the .ini file was to try and join the the two places where the Saitek outputs starts, more together in the middle, it doesn't look like FSUIPC can do that. I will persevere with more reading and try to get the best of a bad job. Thanks for your help. Cheers John

On the calibration tab, or on the FSUIPC assignments tab, watch the "IN value as you move the stick. If the number there does not change as you are moving the stick through your 'dead zone', then either that part of the movement is dead IN THE HARDWARE, or the changes are too small to be seen by the Windows driver! here's nothing any software can do to make the hardware give more than t is capable of. Maybe you have a faulty device? Are you assigning in FS or in FSUIPC? Pete

Looking inside the box, the moving bits connected to the var resister all work without slack but there must be a designed electronic dead area and I can't see any trimmer pots to alter that. I'm assigning in FS and was wondering about that, about getting more control through FSUIPC? John

If you assign anything in FSUIPC (buttons or axes) you should assign them all there, and disable the controllers in FS. Otherwise you'll get conflicts. Pete
pschlute Posted September 3, 2015 Report Posted September 3, 2015 If you do a google search for "saitek yoke null zone" you will see many complaints about this. I have the yoke and there is more travel to the left before it sends a signal than if i turn to the right on mine. Not enough for it to be an issue though.

I need help with my saitek yoke, PLEASE point me towards the right direction. My problem is that in FSX, when i turn my yoke left or right it immediatly goes to 100 turn rate. (Same in elevators, y axis).... Its not a sensitivity issue, nor my null zone since I have tried every combo and ailerons/elevators go to 100% even with a small 10% turn on my yoke.. THANKS
