Hi Pete,

Never had any problems with WXR. Since last week I went to P3Dv4.1. I do not know if this could be the reason of the lack of the WXR radar on My ND.

When I use the integrated weather themes from P3D like building storms or major thunderstorms, it works, but when I use ASN, it does not work. I Followed all advises as mentioned above and please have a look at the attached files.

I use the WX RDR from CPFlight.

Can you advise?
Thanks and regards,

Ed

Sorry, I don't know "WX RDR". The FSUIPC facilities for ASP4 are aimed only at ProSim. Other applications do their own thing, FSUIPC is not involved.

Hi Pete,

Thanks for the reply.

its all Prosim. CPflight is Integrated in de Prosim panels. No difference, no change. This WXR radarpanel is integrated in de pedestalpanel from Prosim. And it all worked in the previous 4 versions from FSUIPC.

Have you tried just using ProSim's WXR display facilities?  I've seen reports on the Prosim forum that this works. (https://prosim-ar.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=12738)

Is your CPflight WX RDR program using the file generated by ActiveSky and placed in your ProSim panel, or is it making up its own image? If the latter then FSUIPC is not involved, except you should probably remove the radar file path line in the INI, as ActiveSky might not like trying to serve two clients.

Again thnks Pete

It was so easy in the older days. It seems all is going to fast. From (for me) P3D3 to version 4 in a fast period of time. I have sometimes the idea developers are releasing to fast. As also for the numurous of software addon developers which are not able to follow that fast road too.

Because of your reply, I think ASN and Prosim are not love each other. As soon as I open ASN, the Radar.bin is created and loaded in a rainy environment. The weather radar is driven by Prosim so no own image for the WXR panel (See attachment). There is no software for this panel needed, just a driver for connecting to Prosim and use their variables.

Nothing changed when I remove the radar.bin or reuse it. So I think it is not FSUIPC related. Will investigate it further, however I am a bit disapointed.

For now thanks and regards,

Ed

So if the radar.bin is created for ProSim to read, FSUIPC + ASN have done their jobs. The rest is up to ProSim.

Reading the ProSim forums regularly I have seen posts saying that certai versions did mess this up. Find a version that works. There are about 90 Betas uploaded now!

BTW, FSUIPC is also capable of producing its own graphic, in BMP format. You need to have another line to the FSUIPC5.INI file. I implemented that and presented both to marty, and he preferred the raw data and to make his own bitmap. Details are in the document in your FSUIPC Documents folder.

Hello Pete,

I have found it. As you said in your last reply it could be Prosim causing this. And it was. I went back to Prosim 1.48, as a test, a version that had always worked nice for me. As soon as I clicked WXR on my EFIS, weather radar started instantly. I left all settings you mentioned above and which I followed untouched and it does its work.

So now I will install the latest beta of Prosim, hoping it will work with that one. I reply if what this latest beta l do in this.

Thanks for all. Thanks for your patience and thanks  for defending your product, which most of the time aint causing problems, like now!

Best regards,
Ed

Hi Pete.

Looks like Enrico has at long last released an update to his PMGetWeather  that now appears to allow for Active sky weather radar to display into the Project Magenta PFD's
but as usual his instructions are vague..as this is what it says to do.

FSUIPC.INI file:
[General] Section
ASNwxRadarBitmapPath=\\PMComputer\NetDir\myRadarFile.bmp

pmGetweather.ini file:
ActiveSkyFile=\\PMComputer\NetDir\myRadarFile.bmp

             //This is the file you have defined in the FSUIPC.INI file
             //For instance:     ASNwxRadarBitmapPath=\\PMComputer\NetDir\myRadarFile.bmp

             //If it is on a networked computer then you have to specify
             //the filename:     ActiveSkyFile=\\PMComputer\NetDir\myRadarFile.bmp

I am confused and have not been able to get this to work

my set up is as follows

I have Prepa3d V4.1 running on a PC Called P3D2017

I have Active Sky Next on the same PC. I.e P3D2017

I have Project Magenta Captain Displays on a PC Called CPT

I have Project Magenta CDU on a PC called CDU and on this PC i have the NETDIR folder

So looking at the instructions above what do i need to do as i cant get it to work.. do i need also to run anything within Active Sky??

Cheers and Thanks

I asked Enrico to support this long ago, when I first added the WX radar support for ASN to FSUIPC. I even offered to do some of the work if he would only give me formatting information for the ND files. But alas nothing happened. He said he would get to it ...?

I have switched to ProSim as of 15 moths ago.

The instructions seem clear enough. What are you confused about?

Active Sky Next won't work properly with P3D 4.1. You need the new Active Sky for P3D4!

So you need to change the computer name "PMcomputer" to "CDU". What's the problem with that?

BTW what is wrong with PM support?  Don't they have a support forum now?

Tks Pete,

I can confirm I use Active Sky for P3D4 and also that i renamed the path or PC Name as suggested above.

The result is that PMGetWeather now shows a positive in that it it saving a BMP image every 10 or so seconds called myRadarFile.bmp  and indeed this bmp is saved within the NetDir, however it saves a black rectangle. no returns no nothing and i have placed the a/c in different places with rain, storm etc to test.  therefore I wonder if I am missing any other command entries in different places.

Tks

Peter

PS BTW what is wrong with PM support?  Don't they have a support forum now?   they have note had a support forum since 2012 or thereabouts.

If the bitmap is being produced then it indicates FSUIPC is receiving data from Active Sky, and using it. It may be that the Active Sky parts aren't working properly, or that the parameters you are using to request the weather are not set correctly -- eg using a downward tilt angle whilst on the ground, or setting a silly range.

The parameters are set by FSUIPC offsets as documented. You can check thse by using FSUIPC's Monitor facilities on the Logging tab.

Try slewing up and placing yourself in the middle of the rain cloud layer.

Hey Pete,

Currently running:

FSUIPC6 6.0.5 - 4/28/20

Sim-Avionics v1.97

P3dv5 Build 5.0.31.35253

ASN 5 Beta build 7487

Not getting the radar.bin or the bitmap file generated.  at this point, forget SIm-A, just trying to get the files generated on the P3D computer local drive.  P3d and ASN running on the same PC
