I have been using Windows 10 with P3DV4.5 and FSUIPC with WideFS for a few years with no issues at all. I have just upgraded both my computers to Windows 11. Everything seems to run fine on both computers except for WideFS will not connect to the server on the other computer.

Both computers are on the same Workgroup, both connected to the same wireless network using fixed addresses and I can ping each computer. FSUIPC and Wideserver are both registered.

I am using the latest version - 6.2.1. I have uninstalled and reinstalled a couple of times with no success. Firewall is not active and turning off antivirus makes no difference.

I am running P3D and FSUIPC as Administrator. I have also tried with FSUIPC on the C drive and on my E drive.

I cannot see any obvious reason for this problem so really appreciate if anyone can help.

Thanks,

Graeme

All such connection issues, especially after a windows update, are usually due to either Workgroup name changes of firewalls being reset. So please double check these - the Workgroup name on both PCs, and try disabling ALL firewalls - client, server and router, to see if that makes a difference.

Also, please attach your WideClient.ini for such issues, and always exit P3D/FSUIPC before attaching files.

Have you tried setting the ServerName (or ServerIPAddr) and Protocol WideClient ini parameters? If not, please try that. Please review the section Configure your Network in the WideFS User guide,

If running as Admin, you may need to run WideClient as Admin as well...

Hi John,

Many thanks for your reply. I had already tried with ServerName and ServerIPAddr with no luck but for some reason I had not tried using Protocol. When I used Protocol and ServerName it made the connection. Thanks for your help, I was really tearing my hair out on this one.

Best,

Graeme

I had the same problem after updating to Win 11 24H2 in early December. A search revealed the solution which John has shown above.

I also had problems with my two GoFlight GF166 displays. Windows recognised them but the displays remained blank. A uninstall and reinstall of the original GoFlight software resolved the problem. My saved profiles were unaffected.

Problems but far fewer than with the new MSFS which would drive me bonkers. I prefer the stability of P3Dv5. 😊

Happy New Year John!

Ref My Previous, I got fed up and reinstalled the WideClient software to another folder, and lo and behold they connected immediately. What and how, well I give up on that. It works and that's what matters to me LOL. Its also making a wideclient.log file now as well. 🤪

Happy New Year

Andrew
