  1. You will need to be more precise in explaining your problem. What OS are you using ? If Win 7 you should turn off power saving. That might explain why your yoke goes dead.
  2. If you are using FS9 then 3.98 is correct. The FSX one won't work!
  3. I still use FS9. I have used Saitek in the past but now use the Ch settup of yoke;throttle quad; and rudders. Without knowing your specific problem it is difficult to be precise but here are a few tips I have found. The most common problem is having assignments in more than place...eg FS9;Saitek's own software and FSUIPC. This will lead to problems. My advice is not to use the Saitek software at all. You then have the option of assigning in FS9 and calibrating in FSUIPC, OR assign and calibrate everything in FSUIPC. The latter means selecting in FS9 "disable joystick", and using FSUIPC to assign (direct to FSUIPC) and calibrate. This takes longer to set up, as you have to assign commands for everything (eg. hat views) but does mean you can set up each of your aircraft specifically. Since I did this I have never had a conflict. FS9 does seem to assign certain functions (buttons) automatically when you plug in a hardware device. This can mean you press a button to change a view and you find you have lowered the gear ! Using the method in the previous paragraph means you wont encounter this problem. You dont say which computer system you are using but if Windows7 make sure you have turned off the power saving settings, otherwise your USB ports will go to sleep if they don't detect any movement for a while. Peter
  4. If I remember correctly, the "Z" control in the PMDG 737 operates the A/P disconnect only, not the general A/P on/off that the default FS9 aircraft (and many others use). It is a while since I flew this aircraft, but I had a look in my FSUIPC .ini file and see that I use a mouse macro to press the A/P 1 switch. I then assign this macro to one of my yoke buttons. This is probably the way for the OP to proceed. Then it is one press to turn the A/P on and anoher press to turn it off. You dont actually need to use the A/P disconnect switch at all.
  5. I use the F1 ATR, and many of the autopilot controls do not use standard FS9 format. However by using the excellent mouse macro features of FSUIPC I have been able to assign all the controls I wish to my CH thottle/yoke/rudder set-up. The mouse macro route is the way to go. Peter
  6. I had similar issues , not just with the FSUIPC window, but with other windows open when FS9 was running. This was on a new pc with a clean install of Windows 7. I solved it by uninstalling the ATI video card drivers, and the ATI driver software. Did a fresh install and updated the drivers. Issue fixed. If you are running Vista/Win 7 I would also suggest you right click on the FS9 .exe , and in properties: tick "disable visual themes". This will disable the visual themes on the desktop when you run the sim.
  7. That sounds like a video card issue. Try updating you card drivers.
  8. Have you actually created a mouse macro for the TOGA button ? It is very straightforward. Once you have done so, you can assign the macro to your joystick button of choice. Peter
  9. Try using the mouse macro function. That should work. I use it to program a number of things on the PMDG 737. Peter
  10. I would also check that your computer does not have the usb ports set to "power save", which switches them off after a certain amount of inactivity.
  11. If I may chip in here. My experience has shown it best to calibrate everything with FSUIPC. That means I do not install software from the joystick , and indeed I go further and delete all FS9 assignments and select "disable joystick" in FS9 itself. This means a bit of work setting up settings for each aircraft type, but once it is done, it works perfectly. Each different type has it's own settings for buttons specific to it's own functionality. I use CH yoke;throttle;and rudders. I would suggest with you trying to mix more than one product and make, it will be far cleaner to use FSUIPC to assign everything. So uninstall any joystick specific software.
  12. I had the same problem with my new Windows 7 computer. Make sure any "energy saving" options to turn off your usb ports is disabled. Calibrate yoke etc first in windows calibration Delete any FS assignments for that axes. uninstall any CH software. I actually go further and run FS9 with "joystick disabled". Everything is programmed through FSUIPC and all works as it should.
  13. I cannot answer your specific question, but i am intrigued as to why you dont use the normal reverse zones provided by FSUIPC. I used to use an X52 throttle and it worked very well for me.
  14. You are aware 4 is for FSX ? It wasn't clear from your post.
  15. As you say that this does NOT happen if you select DISABLE JOYSTICK in FS then it is clearly an assignment issue. One of the jotstick axes or buttons is commanding rudder trim. Check in FS assignments for the keyboard commands for rudder trim. It may be that you have programmed the same commands for another function on your joystick software. My advice would be you delete the rudder trim assignments in FS and see if that fixes the issue.
  16. Start FS and then open the FSUIPC dialogue window. There is a tab called LOGGING. You can create a LOG file which you can then look through to see if there is a mention of rudder or trim. This might give a clue what your problem is. If in doubt have a look in the FSUIPC user guide under Logging. How do you know it the rudder "trim" that is the culprit here, and not for example just a badly calibrated (or broken) joystick? Can you see the rudder trim indicator in the cockpit ?
  17. When you first plug any yoke into FS it will have some controls assigned by default. You need to go into FS settings/assignments and remove them if you want to use FSUIPC to assign controls. You can also get problems if you use the yoke's own software to assign controls. I use CH equipment and find the best result is to NOT instal the CH software at all, and program everything through FSUIPC, including things like hat views. I then use the FS option "disconnect joystick" That way I never get conflicting commands.
  18. Dennis i think you are being a bit unfair here. Pete has explained why the default FS autopilot is not as accurate as the one from a PMDG plane or a real aircraft. It is clear that to make it work perfectly for any specific aircraft would require many hours of work to create a completely new addon such as PMDG do. If your issue is with the FS autopilot you should address your concerns to Microsoft, who will no doubt reply "what do you expect from a computer sim that costs $50". At the end of the day we get the sim we are prepared to pay for.
  19. I would download the latest version of FSUIPC from the Schirratti site and replace the one in your modules folder. It is possible the 727 install has installed an old version.
  20. I use the CH throttle quadrant and can add further advice. Dont install the CH software at all. Use FSUIPC to assign all axes and calibrations. This way you rule out any chance of the CH software conflicting with the FSUIPC settings.
  21. I have been running FS9 on Windows XP for a number of years, but I now need a new computer. I am going to go for Vista, and would like to know if there are any issues with Vista 32-bit versus Vista 64-bit as far as FS9 or FSUIPC are concerned? I run FS9 (with 9.1patch); FSUIPC registered;Ultimate Traffic;Active Sky;Flight Environment;Ground Environment. Dreamfleet 727;PMDG 737-800/900;Feelthere/Wilco ERJ145;SSTSIM concorde. CH Yoke/Throttle/Pedals. Many thanks
  22. This will make you feel better : http://tinyurl.com/6n9jmw
  23. As Pete said download the latest version 4.28 from here http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html You have already paid for registration, so can download and get full functionality for any new version when it is released.
  24. Just a post to say I recently got myself the CH yoke, throttle quadrant, and rudder pedals. I followed the advice posts on this forum on how to set things up. So I dont use the CH software; I do unassign the FS9 axis controls from within the sim; i do select "disable joystick" in the FS9 menu; and I program everything through FSUIPC for all my individual a/c. All works like a charm including using the outer "condition" levers on the throttle quadrant as flaps lever and spoilers. This has transformed my simming and I wish I had ditched the joystick earlier. Thanks to Pete for a great product and for the other helpful posts. Peter
  25. Your problem may not be FSUIPC related. I was havng problems with flaps and gear deploying unexpectedly. My problem was i had bought a new joystick (Saitek x52). I had used the saitek programming software to allocate buttons to a specific function. In my case the button I had assigned to "cycle view" was intermittently commanding the flaps. This was because FS9 recognised that joystick button as a flaps command and occasionally would overide the "cycle view" command from the Saitek software. In FS9 I removed all joystick assignments and that solved the problem.
