Is MSFS running?

FSUIPC7 fails to handle sim restarts gracefully
John Dowson replied to aurel42's topic in FSUIPC7 MSFS
By the way, does this occur all the time or only occasionally? I've had FSUIPC7 running for several hours and have closed/re-opened MSFS several times. I have noticed an issue with data from simconnect seeming to be stalled (although aircraft operates ok), so I'll look into this, but other than that it seems to be ok. I am wondering if this could be due to the Rotaries.lua that you are auto-starting. Maybe you could test without this running. Looks like FSUIPC7 isn't killing the luas when the FS disconnects which it should I guess. I'll look into this. John -

Yes, of course. But as I said, the batch files (and shortcut) are only there as a convenience, you don't have to use them, and you can adjust them to your needs (i.e. remove message or splash screen). For all other flight sims, FSUIPC was an embedded dll and so always closed with the FS. -
Please repeat but with the assignment UI panel closed. I am interested in the 'Button changed' log messages..... That log shows the switch has two "buttons", but its not logging the releases with the ui panel open.
-
I think you should remove any assignments to that switch, activate button logging and then move the switch between the three settings to see what is actually being sent on each change. If its a 3-position switch, it must be using more than one button number, otherwise I don't know how it can function properly. I don't have any 3 position switches so cannot advise. Try operating it with logging on (and the console open), and see what button presses/releases you see when you change its position: off -> up up -> off off -> down down->off ?

FSUIPC7 fails to handle sim restarts gracefully

Sorry, I don't understand what this means. They are both distinct applications. Nothing is stopping you from doing that. Just don't use the provided batch file (and don't install the link on your desktop), and start FSUIPC7 as before, by running the FSUIPC7.exe. If you don't want FSUIPC7 to exit when you exit MSFS, then disable that option from the Options menu. The batch file (and desktop link) are provided for convenience only. You don't have to use them. Just tried it and it works ok here.... Did you edit the ini file with FSUIPC7 still running and not 'reload' it? Try exiting FSUIPC7 and check your ini to make sure the assignments are still there. Here's my log with those assignments (different device and button number) - it is sending two Ctrl+L and one tab+T: I am wondering if you have programmed this to a "sticky" button, i.e. one that on first press sends a button down, and on second press sends a button up. Even so, it should still be sending the two keys on the button up. You can zip it if its too big. John

I mean that you should not start a new log by selecting 'New Log' from the log menu. I'll investigate and get back to you.
-
Can you also attach your FSUIPC7.ini file. And when you attach a log, please always attach the full log, not a continuation. There is also information at the beginning of the file that I need to see. John
-
No idea, but maybe your device was in a weird state.... So its recognized and you are good to go, no?
-
Looks ok. Try activating logging for buttons & keys and see what you can see.
-
The key for those details validates ok, so I don't understand your issue. I have sent you a PM. John

The installation folder, yes. Thats one way. Or if you want it to auto-start, you can add it to the [Auto] section of your FSUIPC7.ini (or the same in a profile), like so: I've already seen that. As I said, better to run FSUIPC7 and show me your .log, .ini and Jotscan.csv files. However, if HidScanner thinks its a mouse, I presume so will FSUIPC7 and so you will not see it.

No success with uninstalling? Why - what does this mean? Did you get an error? What did it fail to uninstall? Do you have an uninstall log? Have you managed to register or not? I really can't help you if you do not provide the required information.

As I said, I'll take a look at this when time permits. But it is low priority. There is really little point in having FSUIPC running without the FS. You should start/stop FSUIPC7 with the FS. The latest installer creates a shortcut item to start them together, and you can now exit MSFS and FSUIPC from within FSUIPC. John -
Can you see the HidDemo file under [LuaFiles]? it should be 1=Lua HidDemo i.e. a capital L, but I'm not sure that makes a difference without checking - please try it, and check log to see if its started. Otherwise, please attach your .ini and .log and I'll take a look. John

Please let me know your order number and email address and I will check it for you. You can PM me the details if you don't want to post publicly. Please do NOT post your key. No idea what that is. You should use the provided uninstaller. But, no need to uninstall unless you want to remove FSUIPC7. The installer will automatically remove the oldversion when updating. John

A2A yoke button programming need help
John Dowson replied to Chucky55's topic in FSUIPC Support Pete Dowson Modules
Hi Charles, as Roman has said, using L:Vars would be the best solution if such lvars are available. Especially as Roman has offered to do this for you! Note also though that you could also simulate the mouse click in the UI to activate these functions by using the mouse macro facilities. Please see the User guide on how to use this facility (but lvars are preferred!). Cheers, John @spokes2112 And thanks for your generous offer! -
@danewatson Please see the provided README.txt: John

Hi Michael, You are using an old version of FSUIPC7 - please update. The 'Start' menu is now 'MSFS' in the released version, and there is an additional 'Exit' option. I do not know what you mean by 'nothing previously selected is working'? However, note that if you were using the beta license, this has now expired. John

This is not the 'intended' method. It is just another method provided if you so wish to use it. It opens a command prompt for you when using the desktop link? That's very strange. You get the command prompt if you run the .bat file directly, but using the created desktop shortcut should omit this command prompt. I don't know why this isn't working for you. To remove the splash screen (or text display), just open and edit the MSFSwithFSUIPC7.bat file located in your installation folder. It should be pretty easy to adjust to your needs. I'll add some flags and simple instructions on how yo adjust to run without the text and/or splash screen in the next installer update. I think I'll also add an FSUIPC7 ini parameter to skip the FSUIPC7 splash as well if needed. Note the splash was added as there is around a 30 second delay when starting MSFS until any window appears. As I said, this shouldn't happen when starting using the link. It is a known issue with windows bat files, with using a link to start the bat one way around this. In no way does installing FSUIPC7 interfere with any previous methods you use to start MSFS. You can continue to start it how you previously did, and start FSUIPC7 however you wish. You can easily create a shortcut to start FSUIPC7 (only) and drag it to the desktop, or add a windows menu entry item if so required (it pretty straight-forward to do this - try google). I could add another option to do this in the installer I guess (but it would be pretty low priority!). The question has been asked repeatedly but still no response, that I am aware of, from Asobo on this issue. John

You cannot just change the annotation/comment - the assignment are all sending the same key (K76 or 'L') and the same modifier (10 or ctrl). Change the values to the key and modifier you require - see the advanced user guide for details. Or, you could program the release sending the tab+T in the FSUIPC UI, then duplicate the press assignment and change that to a release.
-
You are using an unregistered version. You are also using an old version. Please download the latest version. There is still a key file available (in the announcements page) that's valid but only until tomorrow. Licenses went on sale on Thursday.

By using lua. You have to edit the file as described, then place it in your FSUIPC installation folder. Then decide how to activate it - by either assigning to a button or keypress, or adding it the the [Auto] section of your FSUIPC7.ini file so that it is automatically ran.
-
You will need lua anyway to handle 80 buttons - if it is recognised, you can only handle the first 32 buttons via regular assignments.
