I didn't even know it used .Net Framework. I'm pretty sure FSX and FSX-SE don't. I use AS16 with P3D, loaded and closed via the FSUIPC4.INI, and it doesn't crash or hang on termination here. Do you have its DLL loading AFTER FSUIPC4 in the DLL.XML file? If not try moving it. I know there can be problems with FSUIPC getting WX radar details if they are the wrong way around. The latest FSUIPC4 installer makes sure this is right, and I think the AS16 one does too. Pete

Rarely appreciated..... NOT!
Pete Dowson replied to Donovan's topic in FSUIPC Support Pete Dowson Modules
Thank you very much! It is really very encouraging to get such positive feedback now and then. I must admit I do go through rather depressive stages when I think about throwing in the towel, but so far they've all passed. So, thank you again. Regards Pete -
ai separation not resolving conflicts
Pete Dowson replied to prtkilo's topic in FSUIPC Support Pete Dowson Modules
Ah, good. Thanks for testing. I don't know what causes that. I cannot make it happen on either of my systems here, in FSX-SE or P3D, but my friend Ray was getting this problem, which is why I started experimenting with ways around it. The separate Client helped, but didn't actually solve it. He eventually solved the problem by disabling the time sync option in FSUIPC. Seems his system is running at a different clock rate to FS and the time was being reset at intervals -- only by seconds, but somehow this must have been enough to mess up the traffic notifications. That was with FSX-MS though. Sorry, I don't know. I use UT2 together with MyTraffic6, and have not noticed a problem specifically. I do know that if you reload a flight or even just "refresh scenery" (there's a control for that) the AI Traffic can get re-generated and produce duplicates. I've had up to 3 AI aircraft sharing gates -- actually drawn inside each other! Pete -
FSUIPC.log is not actual
Pete Dowson replied to simflieger's topic in FSUIPC Support Pete Dowson Modules
Sorry, but i really cannot support old versions. Current is 4.957c. Version 4.853 is now many versions and at least four years out of date! In the Log file? Or the date of the Log file itself? Is the INI file also old? Are you sure FSUIPC is even running? Please update to a current version. Pete -

Encoder commands delayed in FSUIPC
Pete Dowson replied to Airbuzzer's topic in FSUIPC Support Pete Dowson Modules
Sorry, there's no way I can tell without more information. I don't know anything about what LINDA does, but in your 777 case, without LINDA, you could enable FSUIPC key and event logging and do the same with your eventual 777 solution and compare the results. One of the possibilities is that using the keys directly programmed you are getting the acceleration applied when FS detects two keystrokes close together. The other way may have something intervening. If this is the case you may find enabling the FSUIPC options "fix control acceleration" will help. Quite often with these increment and decrement operations I have found it helps to assing two or three copies of the same keystroke as a sequence to the one button action. This wouldn't apply to something digital like setting a heading, but could well do me the small increments which are usually applied to analogue inputs like throttle levels. Speed settings on an A/P are possibly needed in single digit increments, so that's more difficult. FS tends to apply 10's when accelerated and 1's when not. Without knowing what you're observing I couldn't say if this was the problem. Pete -

Pete Dowson replied to prtkilo's topic in FSUIPC Support Pete Dowson Modules
I think I found the problem, but need it checked if you can plrease. I think the facility to send commands to AI traffic was using the separate client ok, but the commands needed had not been registered, so none worked! Please download FSUIPC4957f.zip. Please test with that "UseAIclient=No" parameter removed! Let me know. But I think this must be it. I can see no other way it can be wrong! Pete -
Lua Debug Line by Line
Pete Dowson replied to Airbuspilot's topic in FSUIPC Support Pete Dowson Modules
I don't set any font size -- it is watever you have set Windows to, and should be exactly the same as pretty much everything else. The problem if I override what the user sets is that the dialog window gets too big to fit some folks screens. No one else has complained as far as I recall. Have you thought about changing your Windows font size? Folks with such difficulties usually do. This is especially important if you are using a very high resolution screen -- on 4k displays the default is minute. And that's another way of automatically getting a bigger font -- reduce the resolution being used on the screen. It isn't enabled by default. Why do I need to see a log? Yes, I understand that sort of debugging (I am actually a programmer and have been since 1963), but it would be a huge development for me to undertake in FSUIPC. Sorry. You can obviously do what you want by adding suitable code into your Lua plug-in, but if it is getting so complex that this is necessary I would think it is getting beyond a plug-in application and more something for an external program. Remember the plug-ins are running inside the sim. Also the Sim doesn't stop when you stop a plug-in -- they are running as separate threads, so all sorts of external factors are changing. Pete -
ai separation not resolving conflicts
Pete Dowson replied to prtkilo's topic in FSUIPC Support Pete Dowson Modules
Very strange. Here it works fine, just as well either way, and FS/P3D definitely runs a tiny bit better with the separated AI traffic client. If TrafficLook shows the traffic either way, that should certainly be enough for AIseparation too. I'll see if making the command system for the traffic use the Traffic Client helps. Expect another version to try later today, to test without the UseAIClient parameter. Okay? If that doesn't help I'll have to consider hich default to use. Maybe for safety have the separation off, but document it as a possible improvement to try. Pete -
A .NET error with Prepar3D.exe as the process name? That's very strange. LUA errors cannot show up in any Windows crash report for P3D unless a LUA DLL was actually running inside P3D, which would certainly not happen with the FSUIPC implementation as the Lua interpreter is embedded in FSUIPC itself. FSUIPC does not use .NET either, and as far as I know neither does P3D -- at least it never installs anything for it, and .NET applications are pretty much always version specific, or as I thought. So if Windows reports a .NET error in P3D there must surely be some other add odd using .NET inside P3D. Ugh! Pete

How writing NAV Frequency 109.50 to FSUIPC ?
Pete Dowson replied to forstmeier's topic in FSUIPC Support Pete Dowson Modules
Sorry, I do not see anything whatsoever in my responses to you which indicates either lack of patience or any attemprt to "belittle" you! I only pointed out that you should be using the documents I provide and install, not someone else's on a website you found by searching. Anyway, I've had enough. I am getting too old for this (I should have retired 8 years ago like all my friends), so will be stopping it all soon I think. I might get time to actually do some flying then. I try my hardest, but it is rarely appreciated. Pete -
Okay. So in that case they must be operating this "throttle lock", whatever it is. Perhaps they could explain exactly what they are doing and what they think is going wrong? No. You can send the control to FS for A/T on or off through FSUIPC, but it would be silly to do that from a aircraft insde FS when it can do it in any case, just as with A/T switch in any aircraft does. FS operates the A/T, just as it does the A/P. In some very sophisticated aircraft, both A/T and A/P might be completely or partially controlled by code the aircraft adds -- they do this when the makers aren't happy about the way FS's own code behaves. PMDG's 737NGX and 777X are like this, as, I think, the later Aerosoft Airbus and the FSL Concorde and Airbus do. Whatever it does, the control is not in FSUIPC -- FSUIPC just does what it is asked. If they think that's going wrong, they need to say what they are doing and what is going wrong with it. Well, I can't support old versions in any case. You need to update. The current version is 4.957c. What version of FSX or P3D are you using? Pete
-
FSUIPC does nothing with axes if it unregistered. It only acts as an interface for application programs which want to read or write FS data. And I've really no idea what is meant by "throttle locking". Why would anything want to lock throttles? Makes no sense at all. I very much doubt that this add-on aircraft uses FSUIPC, but if it does it is really up to the author to work out what he's doing wrong. Didn't you point out to him that you were't using FSUIPC, that it isn't even registered? Prove it to yourself by removing FSUIPC from the Modules folder and seeing if the same thing happens.. BTW, why have you installed FSUIPC if you don't use it? What programs are you using which need it? Pete
-
Yes, that's what I would have assumed in any case. Obviously without any part of Linda operating inside P3D it is very unlikely indeed to be able to cause P3D to crash. But isn't "Linda.lua" part of LINDA? There are a great many Lua plug-ins running which don't have any problem with P3D closing. I myself use many in relation to my cockpit. I would assume the process of elimination I mentioned would be oriented around the things you are asking Linda.lua to do. BTW is there no Windows crash data available for this incident, from the Event Viewer? Lua 5.1 is also the version FSUIPC includes. I don't know Linda at all, but I assume you need an external Lua interpreter too for some reason? Why do you think anything external to P3D could be a cause? Pete

Oh, hello Mr. LINDA! ;-) The only two reports so far have been with LINDA. When LINDA is removed it is okay. Now it may be related to something in FSUIPC + P3D3.4, but I it would need narrowing down. If there's a way of doing a process of elimination with the multiple facets of the LINDA maze then perhaps this could be done. BTW the other report is not far from here: http://forum.simflight.com/topic/82221-runif1kill-seems-not-to-work-properly-after-update-to-4957b/ Pete

How writing NAV Frequency 109.50 to FSUIPC ?
Pete Dowson replied to forstmeier's topic in FSUIPC Support Pete Dowson Modules
Strange. No, "PM" stands for Project Magenta which is an instrumentation system which does use FSUIPC. but it is owned and run by that company, proprietor Enrico Schiratti. This Forum and its subforums are the only repositiories I have. And all user documentation is installed when you install FSUIPC. You think I remember all that data? No, of course not. I have to look up stuff just like anyone else. All you need to know is where to look, and the FSUIPC Installer document, packaged with the FSUIPC ZIP, tells you where to find it and what to find there. Pete -
Lua Debug Line by Line
Pete Dowson replied to Airbuspilot's topic in FSUIPC Support Pete Dowson Modules
The "LuaDebug" assignment facility is really superceded by the far better Debug/Trace option in the Logging menu. Try that. It tells you which lines are executed and the values of variables when they are set or changed. Only if you opt to have Lua logging in a separate file 9see the Logging tab). It would normally go to the FSUIPC log, so you can see the relationship between Lua actions and other FSUIPC events such as controls, buttons and offset logging. Sorry, but what line is that? both Lua tracing facilities go through the whole processing of the lua plug-in. There's no step-by-step action. What facilities would you use at these "breakpoints" exactly? Currently you'd need to program these in as extra lines in your plug-in. Pete -
How writing NAV Frequency 109.50 to FSUIPC ?
Pete Dowson replied to forstmeier's topic in FSUIPC Support Pete Dowson Modules
Why are you looking at a PM site for information about FSUIPC? The offsets list is installed for you in your FSUIPC Documents folder, alongside all the other FSUIPC documentation! Have you never used any of this? I expect the PM one is mainly concerned with offsets that PM uses. It is not my website and I have no access to it to supply documents. 0558 and the following offset was new in FSUIPC4 -- I expect the PM siter is way out of date and only covers FS9 at most. Okay. But the offsets list is still installed in your Documents folder, and that is the one you should be using. And yes, as stated in Paul's reply, 0558 is for FSUIPC4 only. I'm afraid I don't understand anything else in your message as I fail to understand how you can use Excel, a spreadsheet program, for controlling your aircraft. Sounds extremely clever to me! Mind you, I know virtually nothing about spreadsheets or Excel. I know of no way whatsoever unless you are using a program which does these things and you are on-line to some network with such capability, through that program. I thought "multiplayer" could only supply other aircraft data to your sim, and send your data through to others. If you are running a program or have some sort of infection which allows others to do things to your system I'd try to find it and remove it at once before it starts stealing confidential information. Try a virus checker and malware detector. Pete -
This has been reported in another thread, and has been shown to be due to P3D not actually closing, but hanging or crashing after the attempt to close and before FSUIPC has had a change to action the KILL or CLOSE requests. If you check your Windows Event Viewer you may well find the entries for these occurrences. It seems that something LINDA is doing, or possibly has instigated through FSUIPC, is causing problems with the recent releases of P3D. I think the LINDA folks will need to look into this. It is all an unknown to me, unless they can of course manage to narrow it down to a specific request. Pete

Ver 4.957 - value to activate the parking brake
Pete Dowson replied to blover's topic in FSUIPC Support Pete Dowson Modules
This is most unfair. The person asking was using an application which relies completely on using offsets directly. There's no way anyone can remember them all, so they have to be looked up! I suppose that SIOC user did not refer to any documentation about using SIOC? This isn't about simple user facilities in FSUIPC but PROGRAMMING. Programmers always need to look things up. Even then, Thomas did look it up for him and give the answer. If you don't like this Forum I suggest you stay away rather than be so nasty to volunteer effort like that from Thomas. Pete -
From the log the most likely problem is a corrupt weather file. There are other threads like this, for instance http://forum.simflight.com/topic/82188-p3d-v335-crash/#comment-495516 Pete

How writing NAV Frequency 109.50 to FSUIPC ?
Pete Dowson replied to forstmeier's topic in FSUIPC Support Pete Dowson Modules
When you use 0558 on its own. FSUIPC has to send the complete set of INITIAL POSITION values (0558-0570). This effectively pauses the sim whilst re-positioning the aircraft. It is a single SimConnect command. There's no way I know of altering the speed dynamically without changing thrust. Pete -
Prepar3D throttle reverse Saitek X-56 HOTAS
Pete Dowson replied to mikeglaz's topic in FSUIPC Support Pete Dowson Modules
You're talking about FSUIPC calibration, right? Does the Aerosoft aircraft accept FSUIPC calibration? I know PMDG 737 and 777 don't -- you get conflicts. Yes, exactly as documented -- you didn't refer to the calibration section in the FSUIPC User guide? Because they need separate throttle control inputs. If you are using a single throttle for all engines you have to map it on the Main flight controls page. All this is clearly documented. Please do use the documentation provided. It would save you and I a lot of time! ;-) Pete
