Hi Kirby, .FLT files are usually found in your user "Documents" folder, so I'd expect them to be in there, under "Prepar3D v2 Files" without the two subdirectories. Unfortunately I don't have P3D installed at present, so while I have the folders, they're empty, which means that I can't tell whether such a file exists.Is there nothing in the Prepar3D Launcher documentation about this? Hi Johnny, Have you tried creating a profile specific to aircraft you use with FS2Crew and only assigning the function to that profile, thus meaning it will not be applied to other aircraft? If not, then you might like to scan the "profile" sections of the docs... Cheers, Ian P.

Hi Tom, simFlight forum admin chipping in, from 20-something years of PC support... Any "malware" that report that includes the word "GENERIC" means that it is something called a heuristic detection and almost certainly a false positive. AVG, unfortunately, seems to be making a lot of these, recently. It's got a long way to go before it catches up NAV/Symantec, though! :) You can submit the file to AVG for further examination if you wish, but it certainly isn't a "real" verified virus that has been detected. As no other AV package is flagging up the file - or there'd be a flood of posts here - then I'd say you're safe yo unblock it. There certainly used to be a simple right-click in virus vault and select "not a virus" option in AVG... Have they removed that? Cheers, Ian P.

Hello Russell. Wideclient is a separate download, available from the "latest versions" sticky thread at the top of this forum. What I think you are referring to is WideFS (the server end), which is a separate purchase than FSUIPC and no, it is not included in the FSUIPC licence. Although WideFS Server is included in the FSUIPC DLL, it does a different job. Registered FSUIPC allows you to take deeper control over FS than is normally possible through the options provided, registered WideFS allows you to run certain "support applications" such as flight planners, moving maps, some autopilot consoles, for example, on a networked computer. http://secure.simmarket.com/pete-dowson-widefs7.phtml Alt-Enter is the command to switch from windowed to full screen mode of almost any Windows application - you should only be tapping "alt" in the sim to open the menu bar, after which you need to select the menu options using the keyboard or your mouse. The config files probably aren't being saved in the right place - as scoobflight says, it's not designed to work in P3D, so there probably will be conflicts trying to do so. Cheers, Ian P.

Passing forum admin sticking his nose in... Two questions... First of all, that looks a lot like the aircraft is just shut down, in which case not everything is getting power, hence lots of EICAS messages. What happens if you work through the checklists and start it up? Secondly, if you will insist on using FSX aircraft in P3D (they do usually work, to be fair! ;) ) then ensure that you install the FSX versions of Simconnect, as well as the P3D one. They're in a legacy folder within P3D - the SP1 version can be found at Prepar3D\redist\Interface\FSX-SP1\retail\lib\SimConnect.msi -you will need to install all the versions, though, to avoid problems, as different add-ons use different versions of Simconnect. There is an application published by Flight1 that creates vertically operating AI helicopters - I believe that works by injecting them and controlling them through Simconnect. You are correct in that FSUIPC will be of no help at all doing this. Cheers, Ian P.

Hi Noel, You must be making a mistake somewhere - you have to enter your details exactly how you registered it. The best thing to do is to log on to your simMarket account and copy and paste the registration details from your order; that way, if you are changing the capitalisation, or had an extra space or something, it'll get picked up. On the GNS530 and similar units, pushing the centre knob of the left hand rotaries switches the cursor between the "NAV" and "COM" functions for setting frequencies. As neither of the default GPSs have a frequency setting function, then that option is not a FS command, as you say, Pete. Therefore it has to be an add-on you are using... Which one? Cheers, Ian P.

Can you please double (triple?) check that there is nothing double-assigned, please? That's been the problem every time anything similar has happened in the past that I've seen in many years here. It might be worth checking that the Thrustmaster software doesn't assign things, as well as the FS internal assignments and FSUIPC/Linda. Cheers, ian P.

Hi Paul, Pete is away at the moment, but the answer is that no, you can't, but it's unnecessary to do so, anyway. The e-mail address used in registration is only for identification purposes, not used to contact you. Therefore you can continue using your old one to re-register for the entire life of the FSUIPC major version (i.e. FSUIPC3 for FS9 or FSUIPC4 for FSX/P3D). The e-mail address on my registration is at least four ISPs out of date these days! All the best, Ian P.

Take a look at the link I posted, mgh - it shows the response of many different AV scanners to the file. A handful report it as being a "generic" trojan or "suspicious", which apart from zero-day attacks (which this clearly isn't, as the file has been in use for a while), pretty much always means it's a false positive. You'll notice that serial offender Symantec says the file is "suspicious.MH690". According to their site; "Suspicious.MH690 is a detection technology designed to detect entirely new malware threats without traditional signatures. This technology is aimed at detecting malicious software that has been intentionally mutated or morphed by attackers." (http://www.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2008-121617-3748-99) In other words, it's a heuristic detection. It looks like it might be a virus, which again means either a zero-day infection, or a false positive. As it cannot be a zero-day attack (i.e. released within the last few hours and as yet not assigned its own malware IDs by the AV companies) then it's a false positive. Ian P.

I'm afraid that it looks like your "beautiful" AV package has almost certainly generated a false positive... Which is normally Symantec's job! A search for more details about "Trojan.GenericKD.2079676" reveals nothing but that page, this forum post and a lot of other posts with similar, but non-identical references. Most of them are stated as false positives, with a few being actual threats. Rather amusingly, according to one AV website which didn't recognise 2079676, but did recognise "Trojan.GenericKD", the name is a term used by Microsoft Security Essentials (which says this isn't malware) and it should be removed by running MalwareBytes (which says this isn't malware). Pete is on holiday at present, so won't be able to comment, but it is definitely worth sending the files (or download links) to your AV provider, so that they can either investigate the included malware if it is present, or improve their detection routines if it is a false positive. With a side-by-side installation (i.e. where you have both a DVD and Steam version installed) then the paths become "FSX - SE" for the Steam Edition installation. So, as I have both, I have two paths: c:\users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX : DVD version c:\users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX - SE : Steam Edition. Apparently there have been instances where it has thought that FSX was installed (e.g. a previous installation that has not been fully removed) and it has installed the "FSX - SE" paths, even though the equivalent "FSX" ones don't exist.
