  1. It's Rememberance Day" in England...

    Armistice Day. Remembrance Day (or Remembrance Sunday) is the Second Sunday in November. :wink:

    They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:

    Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

    At the going down of the sun and in the morning,

    We will remember them.

    Lest we forget,

    We will remember them.

  2. I'll see your Dick3 and raise you a Dick 2: :wink:

    This royal throne of kings, this sceptred isle,

    This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars,

    This other Eden, demi-paradise,

    This fortress built by Nature for herself

    Against infection and the hand of war,

    This happy breed of men, this little world,

    This precious stone set in the silver sea,

    Which serves it in the office of a wall

    Or as a moat defensive to a house,

    Against the envy of less happier lands,--

    This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this Emma Field.

  3. The cheese monster has grown wings???? :shock: :shock: :shock:

    Run for your wives! Make for the pills!

    Get a grip... get a grip... we CAN catch it: All we need is to put as many cheese graters as we can find on the runway. Then when it comes in to land, it's finished! Bwahahahaha! :twisted:

  4. My dad could probably have given you chapter and verse on that first one. While I used to be competent enough to hold a tune on a number of brass instruments, I never had the passion for banding that my dad had.

    Python, however, was very influential on my adolescence... :roll: :lol:

  5. My contact at the nearby so-secret-it-doesn't-exist USMC facility that can neither confirm nor deny that it knows anything about this raid would like to state categorically that it knows nothing about the location of the cheese. :mrgreen:

    Lets face it, they couldn't find their ar$e with both hands! The base commander was round again yesterday asking directions... :roll: It would be funny if it wasn't for the fact that cheese isn't the only think they couldn't-possibly-have-lost-because-they-don't-exist :oops:

  6. When I see the words CHEESE and CULTURE in the same sentence, I start searching the dictionary for words like SURVIVABILITY... :shock:

    Those HAZMAT guys don't know what they're getting into... they won't just need decontamination, they'll need counselling!

    Oddly enough, there was a report in this month's New Scientist, suggesting that Old No 5 actually works like an antidote...

  7. Cromwell was the perfect example of "better the devil you know..."

    Under Cromwell:

    * "Pointless enjoyment" was frowned upon

    * Pubs and theatres were closed down

    * Sports were banned

    * Colourful clothing was banned

    * Make up was banned

    * Christmas was banned (seriously!)

    * Swearing was punishable by a fine; repeated offences by a gaol term (some would still argue this to be a good thing :wink: )

    * Working on Sundays was punishable by being put in the stocks

    * Walking the dogs on a Sunday was punishable by a hefty fine (or walking anywhere that wasn't to church...)

    And as for the atrocities committed by him and his New Model Army in Ireland...
