  1. My headset has been a Kingston HyperX Cloud. I had supplemented it with an Antlion Audio ModMic. Very comfortable and good sound and for normal usage the mic was reliable and good. In my current living arrangements, I'm in a large echo-prone room with 2 kids over the age of 11 playing games with their friends about 15-20' away. I had trouble finding mic settings that worked well with T!3D and were reliable. Most recently I picked up a FIFINE USB Microphone as a desktop mic with a bit more control. I've been extremely happy using it with T!3D.

I'm not sure how much of this is pie in the sky that sounds like a good idea, but in reality is NOT a good idea -- but it would be cool to have a mechanism that allows a multiplayer session include hooks into Tracon. In my heart of hearts, it would be cool to have: (a) a multiplayer tracon where two players can play either departure or arrival. (b) a multiplayer tower!3dx where two players can play ground and tower. (c) a mechanism that enables those to games to register with one another and... (d) enable hand off to send flights between the two games. This alas, probably can't be in scope for tower!3dx -- other than if it's a future vision that you like the idea of, think about how to structure the multiplayer server or how arrivals and departures work to enable a more real-time approach to things. E.g. if you load arrivals and departures from a static schedule and don't permit changes to it in any way, there's no way to inject new flight information. On the other hand if you have an API that enables that -- it makes it possible to imagine how in the future this could be a multiplayer setup you could have. Short version -- I think my ask for tower!3dx is to think ahead into some of the future kinds of gameplay you might want to exploit, and structure the engine and mechanics around requirements that said future might dictate. In this case, I think it'd be a pretty invisible-to-customers addition to the game, but provides an interesting foundation for future expansion.
  4. As an aside, I also found that mic quality (I guess in retrospect, this is obvious) plays a role. I had several instances of frustration with speech recognition especially if background noise in the house was high. I wound up purchasing a $30 Fifine mic off of Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/Microphone-Condenser-Recording-Streaming-669B/dp/B06XCKGLTP) that's sort of "entry streaming/podcasting" (or described as such anyway). I've seen a noticeable difference in the quality of speech recognition by simply changing up my mic situation. My old mic wasn't bad - I played games with my kids (and we use in-game or discord audio to communicate) and it has never been a problem. That said it was apparently just bad enough that it was causing some issues with speech recognition (I kind of wonder if I was also getting audio bleed from the headphones...). Either way, if you have $30 to spare for trying out a different microphone setup, I'd consider that.
  5. Hey andredragt, I definitely understand how doing a reinstall is tedious -- especially doing all the RC and airports. However, I've found it was the only reliable way for me to recover RC when it went wonky on me once.
  6. Ah.. I tried to search, but I missed it. Looks like if I really want to do 8pm in ATL I'll need to use a custom schedule.
  7. I was poking around the KATL schedule to try and find a time to warm up before the onslaught hits, and I did some simple pivot tables based on the schedule file. I think I understand the format of the file correctly, so I was surprised when my chart of the data looked like the attached chart. I poked at the file manually, and I don't see any arrivals slated for the 20:00 hour. Is this something I've got messed up, or do other people have arrivals at that time? I did, as a double check, check to see if KATL actually had a quiet arrival hour at 20:00 -- and they do not, according to FlightAware.
  8. Hey Eli, This could be PEBCAK -- but when I try and visualize the ATL schedule I'm told that the file is too big. I believe this is the standard RT schedule (I don't think I have a custom ATL schedule since the RT one appears to be more than brutal enough for now). The KATL schedule is 108KB which is larger than the other airports I have (my KLAX file size is 69KB for example). Is there any chance you can bump up the file size a touch so it's possible to visualize ATL?
  9. crbascott's LAX schedule is punishing! I tried the 10:00 hour and wound up down -2000 points in a jiffy with a logjam well.. everywhere. I was able to do okay at 50% volume, and 75% volume went ok (I had one minor issue of two SWA planes taxiing into each other rather than using their eyes). Still working up to handling 10am on a Monday at LAX at 100%. Such fun! KATL is a nightmare.
  10. I opted to uninstall and reinstall it all from scratch -- and that seemed to work a treat. Nevermind. 🙂
  11. I have all of the real color texturepacks (1, 2, 3, 04, 5, 06, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 , 19) installed and I believe I've correctly installed the files in the OP but I'm not getting any livery on my jets. Any idea what I could be doing incorrectly to cause this?
