  1. Hello Alan, I'm going to have a look at it ... quite a few lines of code ... might be busy for a day or so ;-) I'll keep you informed Regards fracasado
  2. Hello Alan I do now believe you understood my earlier post quite right. It seems that it was me who did not understand the message Unknow airport: xxx (IATA) ICAO not found! completely. After reading scoobflights post I experimented with my Tracon installation and found the following: I can reproduce the above message in two cases: case 1 - if I delete an airport from airports.txt but keeping the respective airport in schedule.txt, and (unexpected and new! to me) case 2 - if using an unknown or non-existing airline iata code in schedule.txt So in my post from 03 July 2015 - 08:25 PM I assumed there are some missing airports but that seems not to be the only cause for the unknown airport message in the log. It can also mean that there are unknown airlines. I will try to find out more by looking into your files again. Are you able to post your airlines files too? Regards fracasado
  3. Hello Terry, despite I do not have Tower I would like to help you as far as I can. As I understand your problem so far (please correct me If I'm wrong): You do have traffic with the default sectors using Real Traffic but when using KSEA (or Tower add-on sectors) Tower starts as usual but there are no aircraft. So concluding from that and due to the fact that you re-installed and used the game with default sectors I believe the problem is related to the data files belonging to the add-ons. So there are good chances to find out what the problems are and to correct them. What looks strange to me first is that the tower.log you uploaded does not contain much data (e.g. as compared to the one AST did upload). Would you please 1) Start Tower with a working sector, play a few minutes (you may use fast time if you like), exit the game and then check the log files in the Tower folder or below. In case there is more than one log file, save them both to folder outside your Tower installation folder and rename them for easier handling later on. With the working sectors I would expect something more to be logged and it would be helpful if you could post a zipped version of them here. Please include the game.log if possible/available. 2) It seems necessary to me if you would list the database files and timetable data you have (in Tracon such data are stored as txt-files in a folder called 'databases' - may be in Tower they are located elsewhere and named differently) : Check for files like airlines.txt, schedule.txt, airports.txt, airplanes.txt and all others so that I can get an overview what files there are to be checked. 3) If possible post a zipped version of the database files, so that the forum is able to look at them Regards fracasado
  4. I found the sector boundaries from various sources throughout the web, mainly VATSIM and IVAO related sites but also from skyvector.com, avsim.com and flight simulator sites. Some sites allow you to download sector files with lat/long data for free. Regards fracasado
  5. I started the creation of my own sector with help from this post: http://forum.simflight.com/topic/76196-tracon-2012-how-to-create-a-sector-heres-an-example/ As said in the posting above: there has to be at least one SID and STAR for a runways and a base sector! Otherwise TRACON crashes. Regards fracasado
  6. First of all I need to mention that I do not have Tower but I encountered similar problems with TRACON!2012 I did look into your log and found a lot of entries saying somthing like Unknow airport: xxx (IATA) ICAO not found! I had these messages as well in the TRACON logs after I modified a traffic schedule.txt file (with IATA coded airports) and did not check for the existance of a corresponding entry in the airport.txt file. For each IATA airport in the schedule files there must be a corresponding entry in the airport list (which in TRACON links the IATA airport to its ICAO Location Indicator and lat/long position). I believe in TOWER there is propably a similar mechanism, but the files may be named differently. In TRACON they are named schedule.txt and airports.txt. So may be you can check if you have some similar files in your TOWER installation folder or in a subfolder. Then try to add the missing/unkown airports an example (from TRACON) 1. Suppose your log says Unknow airport: AUH (IATA) ICAO not found! 2. schedule.txt contains a departure from AUH (IATA code for departure is the first entry in each line) AUH, STR, 332, AB, 7223, 06:55, 06:55, 345, AB AYT, STR, 320, 8Q, 737, 09:00, 06:35, 250, 8Q 3. airports.txt with IATA airport - name - lat/long and ICAO Location Indicator at the end - AUH is missing ATL Atlanta(Intl) GA USA 33.39 N 84.26 W KATL AYT Antalya Turkey 36.55 N 30.48 E LTAI BCN Barcelona Spain 41.18 N 2.05 E LEBL 4. add AUH in your airport list ATL Atlanta(Intl) GA USA 33.39 N 84.26 W KATL AYT Antalya Turkey 36.55 N 30.48 E LTAI BCN Barcelona Spain 41.18 N 2.05 E LEBL AUH Abu Dhabi(Intl) U.A. Emirates 24.28 N 54.22 E OMAA 5. check your log if messages disappear May be it helps. At least it may be worth trying ... Regards fracasado
  7. In case you like to modify the flight path of the SID/STARS or to add new procedures you may use the airspace editor. But I do recommend to backup your files before any modification. I did learn by myself that even though the files can be easily adapted to your needs it might be rather difficult to identify mistakes (e.g. when Tracon does not work correctly anymore with the modified files). In case you have a backup of your files it does save you a lot of time Regards fracasado
  8. New Screenshot available, taken during testing Best Regards fracasado
  9. Status Update: I have some more information concerning the current development state of EDDS/STR Stuttgart Approach sector. Despite beeing busy with professional duties I did some testing (I'm still using Win XP Service Pack 3 because of the speech recognition doesn't work well for me yet with Win7) I can report the following observations: The compiled schedule file for Stuttgart airport is based on a timetable from February which I found online. I currently have 175 active approaches and 171 active departures. The scheduled departures seem to work pretty well. Only a few adjustments need to be done.Local traffic creation with the gaandlocaltraffic file for a second smaller airfield with primarily General Aviation traffic does not work (see also link in the status update posted above).Due to the problem mentioned above I created random traffic for the smaller airfeld. Then I get some general aviation flights, but unfortunately this random traffic does not follow the defined SIDs. For all randomly generated flights I observe flight-Id from: xxxx to: yyyy 'preferred SID/STAR: -none' in the simulation log file. Apart from that the random generated flights can be controlled normally but they need to be radar vectored or cleared to an appropriate waypoint. Arrival flights do work okay in general but I need to do some more optimizing of their descend profiles in order to get a more realistic handover from center sectorsI did observe that arrival flights start an uncommanded descend without being cleared to a certain altitude (7000 feet ?) when they apporach the end of the defined STAR, even if a minimum altitude is defined for the complete path of the STAR. That behaviour is not really a problem in my opinion but one should know about it. You simply need to issue a proper descend clearance in due time before the flight approaches the last waypoint of the STAR as in real life Still to do: Writing a sector description and/or readme file Optimizing of the arrival profiles (STARs and altitude restrictions) Optimizing the radar map and delete unnecessary waypoints Optimzing the sector file and removing unnecessary code/lines within Regards fracasado
  10. Status Update: Unfortunately I cannot work much during the week currently so things are going slower than expected. Sector map and adjacent sectors are basically completed, but flight profiles and handoffs are not tested yet (due to ongoing coding of procedures)Tests with local traffic between Stuttgart and smaller airfields in the vicinity did not work as expected. So I'm going to create scheduled traffic into and out of Stuttgart first.( see also http://forum.simflight.com/topic/78725-tracon2012-question-concerning-the-creation-of-local-flights/ Maybe there will be a workaround or other creative solution in the future. ) I'm going to compile a first schedule file during the weekend in order to then start testing the first SIDs and STARs. Regards fracasado
  11. Did anybody successfully managed to create local flights by using the releated schedule file (gaandlocaltraffic.txt)? I never see any flight which I defined in it. According the the game.log the schedule file gaandlocaltraffic.txt is listed and does not show any errors. But I just can't see any traffic generated from this file (neither in normal nor fast simulation mode) I created a new airport, the necessary SIDs and STARs and adapted the necessary airspace data into the respective database files (e.g. sector definition file, airports.txt, gaandlocaltraffic.txt etc.) and finally defined the parameters for the aircraft generator at this airport in order to create a certain amount of traffic with PROP aircraft. Then I get random traffic to various destinations but none from the flights listed in gaandlocaltraffic.txt. Besides this missing local traffic the simulation itself works as expected. Does the simulator uses the gaandlocaltraffic.txt. file at all? If yes, how do I get it to work? Best Regards fracasado
  12. I started with the creation of an approach sector for EDDS/STR (Stuttgart, Germany) which will be my first selfmade sector for Tracon! 2012. Two screenshots are available yet: Best Regards fracasado
