Can I ask how EGKK is implementing the second runway?

In reality Gatwick has 2 runways but "Although Gatwick has the main runway and the ‘reserve’ or northern runway, they cannot be operated simultaneously. The northern runway is normally only utilised during the night when maintenance on the main runway is planned.", source - p3

Well, T3D, as did Tower2011, allows the player to choose which runways are open or closed.  T3D Pro even lets you change runways during an active session.  Thus, I do not envision there being anything to prevent you from operating it realistically, even if there is also nothing preventing you from operating it unrealistically.   Not really much different from their renditions of any other airport, where it is up to the user to decide if he/she will use realistic taxiway routings and runway procedures, or improvise his/her own.

How about KMIA (busy, many international flights, interesting layout, penalty box, one holding bar for either 12 and 8R, seven cargo areas, the tower sitting above terminal D) and PHNL (many new airlines, island hoppers, optional military flights via Pearl Harbor/Hickam AFB, two "runways" for water planes - 4W/26W and 8W/22W -, the tower being mid-field with a nice view overlooking a pretty small terminal, runway 8R/26L being built into the Pacific ocean) ?

I am sure KMIA will come eventually.  It was one of the default airports in Tower2011.

I would love to see Charlotte international airport which is my hope airport

Yeah, that one has an interesting layout.  SimSmith did the one for Tower2011, but now they seem to have disappeared.  I do hope they will return to making airports soon.

They JUST released Memphis.  Give it time! 😉

Actually, Nyerges just released Memphis.  That hardly lets FeelThere off the hook.  Crack that whip, Vic.   Hah ha ha (evil laugh).  Anyway, I would still like to know if SImSmith is ever going to get back into the game.

  5. I'm not sure what would cause that problem (hopefully someone else will know what to do), but one possible workaround is to set your display in windows to stretch the display image across both screens.  Then you can put the strips on one side, and the radars on the other with a big viewing area in between.  If you have not tried this, it is probably worth doing once anyway, just to see if you like it better.

hey I noticed something in tower 2011 are the creators putting airports in tower 3d and tower 3d pro based on tower 2011

The answer is yes, but not exclusively.  Vic himself confirmed this a long time ago.  My guess is that their old Tower2011 airports serve as a sort of blue print, which makes designing the 3D version a little faster than starting from scratch.  Note that EDDM was not made for Tower2011.  There has also been confirmation the EDDS and YSSY are in the pipes, and neither of those were done for Tower2011 either.

Want to take advantage of this sale. Question i have is do i need to purchase the airport standalone AND the real color for the airport to add to my game or cani just purchase the Real Color and it gives me the airport as well? When I look at requirements for the Real Color for the airports, it doesnt say that the airport is required. Just want to double check before purchasing.

    Thanks

Real Color only give you real world airline liveries for the planes (and only if you already own the Real Traffic add-on).  RC does NOT include the airport.  I agree it is a little confusing if you are a new customer.  Here is a priority list; each item on the list requires all of the items above it:

    1. Tower3D or Tower 3D Pro (both products are stand alone and will work with all of the add-ons and include fictional aircraft ans airlines by default)

    2. Add-on airports only require that you own #1

    3. Real Traffic replaces the fictional aircraft models that come with the base game with a much larger variety of real aircraft models (but all aircraft are painted white).

    4. Real Color packs add real world aircraft liveries to the aircraft that come with Real Traffic above, and WILL NOT work without it.  Here is the trick, though.  Each RC product (labeled by airport) will work with all airports in the game (both default and add-on).  A given pack includes liveries for all airlines known to fly to/from a specific airport (many of these pack do overlap).  Thus if you buy the pack for KATL, you will get liveries for nearly all Delta Airlines planes, as well as some Southwest, United,  and a number of international airlines, all of which will work at KLAX, KSFO, KJFK etc.).  This means that you do not need to buy every RC pack in order to have a large number of real liveries on most of your aircraft at most of your airports.  Even if you own all of the airports add-ons, 3-5 RC packs will give you liveries for most of the aircraft in the game, depending on which packs you buy, although you will occasionally see a white aircraft periodically it is not in the sets you have.

    Hope this helps.

  8. I see that KPHX is on sale for the first time.  It is one of the few airports I never got around to picking up.  Since I have a bunch of other parallel layout airports (KLAX, KATL, KMCO, EDDM), I am curious if others find that KPHX has a unique enough layout to make it worth while?  Of course the fact that Craig has already done a full week of schedules for it is already a big plus 😉  Seriously, though, do you guys find yourselves coming back to this one often, or not so much?

  9. Clever.  I've never been that specific about it, but I have on occasion created random delays in a similar fashion.  Sometimes, I will force planes to sit in place a while after pushback, or, as you did, taxi them to some unused taxiway and hold them for a while.  I have found that there are a lot of creative things like that you can do in this game along those lines.  It would be nice though if the the game had dedicated holding areas at airports so that you could just tell a plane to taxi to "pad xxx" and await instructions.  Maybe in the next version...

  10. For what its worth, KMCO is VERY nice.   The taxiway layout is fun and the tower sits smack in the center of the action with a great view of everything.  There is a fair amount of traffic, especially if you use ATC Joe's schedule, and on top of all that it is a treat visually as well, what with all the bridges, waterways, and greenery.   I find myself playing that one a lot.

  11. That's disappointing, Craig, though in some ways understandable.  Memphis is hardly a megalopolis, and most other population centers within driving distance have their own airports.  Sounds like we may be better off creating fictional schedules for this particular add-on.  I suppose sooner or later they will get around to KORD, KDFW, and then perhaps even EDDF, EHAM,  and EGLL (we can still dream can't we?) for us heavy traffic junkies.  Oh well...

After seeing the RT schedule for KMEM my initial thought was a custom schedule was really needed. However, the closer I looked I found that Real Traffic accurately reflects the typical daily flight ebb and flow, although there should be more GA traffic. Realistically, the commercial flights are relatively light and the cargo flights are either feast or famine.

So, in my opinion, a custom schedule based on REAL flight schedules isn’t worth the effort.

Perhaps a holiday schedule would spice things up a bit?  I would imagine that FedEx, and the pax lines as well, add more flights between Black Friday and Christmas...

  13. Thanks for posting.  Very tempting.  I will have to think about this.  I would also like to hear from others about whether Gabor remembered to define each cargo ramp interdependently, so that the correct airlines can be assigned to the correct ramp.  Kind of odd that they chose to do this airport now, just as a major renovation is beginning, which will result in the terminal configuration being radically changed.  See http://www.flymemphis.com/modernization-images#Modernization-Current2017

Summer was a bit slow, but we took many steps toward faster releases so I certainly hope from September you will not have to wait a month for each release. Gabor's KMEM is coming up this week and we are testing EDDS at the moment.

    Thank you

Ooooh.  KMEM.  That should satisfy the cargo dogs around here 🙂

By the way what ever happened to SimSmith?  They did such a nice job on KLGA, but then disappeared.  I was really hoping to see more of their Tower 2011 addons be converted to Tower 3D.

  15. Yep that gate has bugged me for ages, F7 I believe it is.  Sometimes it just sits there, and sometimes it spins, depending on which aircraft it is.  The funny thing is that a year or so ago, I actually flew out of that gate on an international flight, and the plane actually did get stuck temporarily ( no spinning, thank God);  apparently someone forgot to refuel the pushback truck or so the captain jokingly claimed over the PA system.  Very strange when life repeats a simulation.  Needless to say I had a private laugh about it 😉

EHAM ( Schiphol , Netherlands ) , would be great too.

I second that.  We have had a lot of parallel and perpendicular runway setups lately.  EHAM would be a refreshing change of pace.

  17. KMCO just now came out, EDDM came out in April. and KSFO was out in March.  No announcement has been made about what the next release will be, though Vic has indicated that both Feelthere and 3rd parties are actively working on new airports.  I hope this gives some perspective.

  18. I was just hoping to here that there has been some progress on the long promised SP for KATL?  Somehow you guys have managed to crank out multiple SPs for more recent releases, while poor Atlanta gets left behind.   Not being able to get heavy jets into Terminal F really spoils the immersion for me (and this was a problem that I pointed out the day after the airport was released).  There are some smaller issues (graphics errors with buildings during rain, spinner at gate F9,  and the tower height being too low) but fixing the Terminal F issue alone would be a big improvement.  I truly hope you guys have not given up on this add-on.

  19. I know I already made some positive comments earlier, but having kicked the tires a bit more thoroughly over the weekend, I wanted to take a moment to reiterate what a spectacular job FeelThere did with this one!  They truly outdid themselves.    Their rendering of the airport itself is gorgeous to look at, and I think I can safely say it also is the least buggy of any T3D airport at release.  I have yet to run into any real show stoppers.  Finally, as I mentioned before, the action camera has suddenly been transformed into something genuinely fun and useful.    [Hey Vic, any chance your team could go back and do whatever it was that you did with the camera for KMCO for all your earlier releases.  The difference is stunning!]
