What I miss is the possibility to assign stands resp. gates to the flights. Especially so that a schedule creator gets full control over restarters. I hope you still have that in mind!?!

Hopefully with an airport editor we’ll be able to define terminals/parking at a more granular level. This functionality was available with Tower!2011 and I’d assume we’d have this in the new version based on Vic’s statements regarding the wishlist. However, based on the example above it’s not clear. Hopefully, @FeelThere_Vic can confirm this for us.

The flexibility of the new version should be a welcome change. Definitely interested in the “more later” items too.

Most (not all) of my landing aircraft stop after turning off of the runway despite me already giving them "Taxi to ramp" or "Continue Taxi" instructions (which they acknowledge). Am I doing something wrong, or in the wrong order? I have tried giving them instructions before and after they have exited the runway. This happens at all of the fields I own (KLAX, KPHL, KATL). Any guidance would be appreciated!

Welcome to Tower!3D Pro. Unfortunately, you are experiencing one of the most prevalent bugs/"features" of this game - planes slowing to a crawl and stopping after landing. I wrote two posts 4+ years ago dissecting the anatomy of a landing. The highlights are as follows:

    (1) Touch down - this is the point where the plane altitude and tilt is zero. All planes hit the same spot, but, obviously, at different speeds.
    (2) Slow down to 44 knots - after touch down planes begin the slowdown process to 44 knots
    (3) Successful landing - after reaching 44 knots planes travel a little further down the runway and the successful landing message is displayed.
    (4) Begin slowing down to 19 knots - planes maintain 45-48 knots until it is time to slow down to taxiing speed (19 knots) in preparation to exit the runway.
    (5) At 19 knots - after reaching 19 knots planes maintain this speed until exiting the runway and eventually come to a complete stop in preparation of taxiing to the ramp.

After dealing with the slowing and stopping, we then have to deal with another baffling feature. We don't know the actual gate for the plane until after we issue a taxi to apron/ramp/terminal command. I'll never understand the reasoning/logic behind this.

No, my original post showed the following.  Maybe you didn't get the whole message for some reason.

    The updates I installed were:

Nyerges Design ATCSuite - Real Traffic for Tower!3D  -  "RT_Tower3D_PRO_sp6v31.exe"

Nyerges Design ATCSuite - NEW Real Color update  -  "RC_Tower3D_Update.exe"

Nyerges Design ATCSuite - Real Color KDFW for Tower!3D  -  "RC_Tower3D_KDFW.exe"    (Dallas-Ft. Worth APT, TX)

Nyerges Design ATCSuite - Real Color EGKK for Tower!3D  -  "RC_Tower3D_EGKK_SP1.exe"    (Gatwick APT, ENG)

Nope I got the whole message. And as I said earlier and @Edwin1970 reiterated, the above list does NOT include any airports. It appears you are confused about the Tower!3D product line and what does what. If it is not too late I would recommend at a minimum trying to get a refund for “NEW Real Color update” as it will not benefit you at all. Edwin provided links to the actual airports, but I’d wait for a sale because at this stage it is not worth paying full price for anything related to this product line.

Love this idea - will be trying this moving forward. I guess the caveat there is that SouthWest (for example) probably paid a pretty penny to get the terminal right beside the entrance to 24L? Would it make sense for a United flight going to EGLL go from essentially the start of 25R and taxi all the way to 25L?

I wonder if this would be something that would be dealt with in their flight plan?

Not being picky / trying to start crap, genuinely curious on this one. The real answer if for me to just look at Flight Aware or FR24 and see what they did...

Yep, again, this was the idea behind the challenges I created on the Discord server. I used FA and FR24 extensively when determining the actual runways used. In high traffic periods, you’ll definitely see SWA depart from 25R and UAL from 24L.

The departing runway definitely has an impact on flight plans. The departure procedure (SID) may not change but the waypoints flown up to the transition point could be quite different.

I wonder if we are getting closer to a release of Tower or perhaps Flightsim just took notice?

Theoretically, every day we’re getting closer … doesn’t mean we are close at all, though. 😀 I think it’s more a case of the latter. Nothing new shared - only repeating what FeelThere has previously put in their blogs and posted here on the forum.

  6. @FeelThere_Vic Thanks Vic. I definitely appreciate the customization features, very intriguing. Would I be correct in assuming these configuration files would be shareable? In a attempt to somewhat guess to what is going on, does the “editor” screenshot match up with the last strip screenshot you shared? Additionally, for a person who prefers multiplayer, is the vision for the strips to be at a facility level (which the screenshots imply) or at an individual controller or position level?

While I wait for your answers, I am going to look up the RGB values for hot pink. My strips are gonna rock!

    • You'll find a log file (output_log.txt) in your ...\Tower!3D Pro\tower3d_Data folder. It is recreated each session.
    • In real life, 27R at KPHL is used for arrivals.
    • The runway conflict bugs you mention have been reported previously and exist at other airports (KJFK for example).
    • I appreciate your desire to get the bugs addressed, but active development on the game engine stopped in early 2018. The only thing that warranted a fix in the last four years is a bug that kept the game from loading. Just trying to set expectations, don't get your hopes up.
    • The points don't matter.  🙂
  7. Retro pack liveries are tied to a plane type and airline. There is no airline in the GA schedule file. As a result, while planes. You’ll need to put the 707 and appropriate airline(s) in the commercial schedule file if you want to see a livery for it.

Takeoff and landing distance are stored internally in Real Traffic. Those parameters are static and, unfortunately, we can’t change them.

GMT to Charlotte is -5 hours (October to March)
If you have -4 hours then it is BST (March to October)

    Not BST.

The GMT offset is updateable in the Airfield editor. Don't know if -4 is how it was shipped or something I edited. DST adjustments are not automated and must be done manually.

    1. The schedule format is the same for T!2011 and T!3D. Flipping columns and changing ones to zeroes is not needed and bad advice. Duration is ignored.
    2. @EliGrim was on the right track. However, the GMT offset for Charlotte is -4 (in my version). So, using your schedule you need to start the game at 09:00.
    3. I copied your schedule exactly how you posted it above and it worked.
      1. The first flight that spawned was your SWA3310 departure at 09:22 (05:22).
      2. The second flight that spawned was the AA640 arrival at 09:40 (05:40).
      3. Unless you modify your airlines and terminal file, the arrival at 09:04 (05:04) will not spawn. In my 2011 airlines file, 5Y is Isles of Scilly Skybus and surprisingly is not in my terminal file for Charlotte. 🙂 I believe 5Y is now GTI (Atlas Air).

  9. If "like this" is accurate, using lower case is your issue? Of course, you're going to reply that you used upper case. So, not surprisingly, "like this" doesn't help much.

You've been around long enough to know a little typo anywhere in the file can be a big problem. A log file and the schedule itself would be much more helpful than "like this".

I was interested in purchasing the new Real Colors Add on Pack 1 but I saw that I needed to update my Real Traffic. However, I was not sure how to update the Real Traffic and I was wondering If someone could help me do that.

Not knowing how to update Real Traffic, brings up a concern. Do you know how to use and/or create custom schedules? If not, then this RC pack will do you no good whatsoever.

Simple answer: They bought worldwide schedules including licences for redistribution as Real Traffic once, before Tower!3D came out, at what you would consider horrible cost that you only stomach once. Whatever the volume was, at that time, worldwide, that was the volume that went into Real Traffic. And ZBAD wasn't even around at that time.

Bought worldwide schedules once? Is this a fact or just an assumption? Why buy something when it is freely available?

Isn’t the simple explanation that COVID caused low traffic volumes in real life and with airports being released during COVID Real Traffic just reflected what was happening in real life? This is the same reason custom schedule creation has declined - not worth the effort due to low traffic volumes.

Basically makes buying them pointless unless you make a custom schedule. It was obviously a design decision at the time (simpler schedule , lower cost to make or simply the issue with so many gates spawning full) but, for premium priced DLC (airport + real traffic + real color for airport ) so many of them are a disappointment when it comes to their actual operations.

Dallas/Fort Worth 0800-0900 in game 28 movements, IRL 85 movements just looking at today's FlightRadar. At a number of points in the schedule there were no aircraft either arriving or departing from what is supposedly the world's 3rd busiest airport.  Don't even start with poor Dubai , it is a total snoozefest to play if you don't create a custom schedule. Massive airport, hundreds of taxiways , no aircraft to use any of it.

I knew at least Dubai's default schedule was extremely poor based on the reviews but, expected way better from Dallas based on the fact that Atlanta at least gets busy.

Hopefully for T3DP Next Gen you look to add the feature to bring real traffic properly into the game like MS has done with FS2020 or find a way to get the schedules much more in line with real world operations for these airports.

    COVID.

Atlanta was released pre-COVID (2017), that's why you see decent traffic volumes (despite no arrivals for hour 20).
Dubai was released fall 2019 and we can start to see the COVID impact on schedules.
Dallas was released late 2019, same song second verse.

Whilst I'm here, has anyone tried and mastered "I am an Air Traffic Controller 4"?

I've run  the Demo/Tutorial and that look fiendishly difficult!

Wrong forum for that question. FeelThere doesn’t feel too kindly about the talk of competitor products.
