  1. Brief info:

I've been struggling with internet disconnections for roughly a week now. By now every few minutes.
In the next few days I will get a new router, which will hopefully fix the problem. Then I will be able to upload the introductory video.

In the meantime, WSSS data has been added to Schedule Creator (v0.9i;k), as well as the current airports, airlines and aircraft models from the latest RT update.
Also, the bug that caused flights with single digit numbers to be dropped when using FlightAware data has already been fixed (v0.9j).

Your schedule builder is a must have for us less computer literate.

Thank you very much, I am glad to hear that.

I would love for you to update it in anyway you seem fit. EGLL WSSS  I love it.

Although I did not respond with the sad emoji, I still have sad news for you.
As mentioned several times, no new airports will be added to the Schedule Builder for various reasons.

You will surely remember that I held out the prospect of adding EGLL, one of the most anticipated airports as it seemed to me, to the Schedule Builder if 11 community members could be found to PM me expressing their desire for EGLL to be implemented. Not even half of the goal was achieved.

This means that either, in addition to my personal reasons, the interest in implementing new airports is not even remotely big enough, or, the community at large understands how time consuming implementing new airports is and did not want to deprive me of many, many hours of my spare time.

In any case, the decision is made:
There will be no new airports for the Schedule Builder and I intend to stop all work, except mandatory work, on the tools/websites on August the 1st of this year.
However, all tools/websites will remain available online for quite some time.

It almost runs over the tug in some cases.

Not just almost. I have seen aircraft run over tugs many times. You just have to say goodbye to the idea of realism a little bit. Planes also clip through other planes; unless a flight gets active and it results in a crash.

Almost as bad as the car drivers driving on the wrong side of the road.

I am not sure if that is really the case. At some airports, the cars hover above the ground and can teleport. As for the cars, the developer has obviously taken a futuristic approach. 😉

i noticed that WSSS-SIN Changi International has been released but real traffic hasn't been updated for some reason.

It would not be the first time that an airport is released before RT is updated.
What I don't understand is how @Pedantic G can help you with this. He neither creates nor publishes Real Traffic. What is stopping you from creating your own thread. I know you can do it! 😉

  5. Salad has already replied while I was busy taking screenshots. Nevertheless, here is my approach:

    * When an aircraft contacts the tower on approach is the "Enter Final" command the most appropriate? I vaguely remember aircraft being told to "Continue approach" when they called in.

As Salad has already written, flights at handover are already on their very long final. ENTER FINAL is to be equated here with CHANGE TO. CONTINUE APPROACH is not a thing in T!3D.

    * There doesn't appear to be a pause button on multiplayer

That's right! This is either a game design decision or there were some difficulties in communicating via UDP Peer-to-Peer with a pause option and it was therefore dropped.

    * There doesn't seem to be a way of saving a session so that it can be picked up at a later time.

Correct, this option was often requested but unfortunately never delivered. We can only hope for it in the new Tower version.

    * How far apart are the rings on the DBRITE?

5 nautical miles (6076 feet or 1852 meters) - I can't say how accurate the game is though.

    * Is it possible to put extra info on the strips? Things like taxi clearances would be helpful, especially if there are a lot of aircradft trundling about.

There is a free text field on the strips.ftf_t3d_db_tot.thumb.jpg.fa9818a8b6ef5b015700a93c8252f2b4.jpg

    * Is it possible to see which way an aircraft will go after take-off? This would be helpful for sorting departure order at a busier airport.

Since I don't want my head to explode, I'll leave it to you to figure it out. Example KSEA, runway 16L:ftf_t3d_db_fdt.jpg.c6d6c4754af6e5bb4ea4e77bb9f907fe.jpg

If the handoff is issued inside a 5NM radius, the turn starts at the 5NM ring. Or directly after the handoff if it's issued outside the 5NM ring.

  6. @MJKERR I'm pretty sure the typo will be fixed with the next update.

Until then you can fix it yourself.

    • Click on MASTER CODE LIST
    • Search for the call sign ETIHAD (or IATA codes #y and ey or ICAO codes ETC and ETD)
    • Correct the details under Airline Name
    • Save the document
    • Click on FULL RC List

Now you can search for Etihad as airline name, provided you did not make a typing error when correcting! 😉

Of course an entry for each variation needs to be added to the REC file for them to work.

    File is updated.

TAXI TO RUNWAY should now have the same functionality as RUNWAY, including the use of a runway as taxiway in second position in the taxi instructions, with the exception that I have excluded a double naming of TAXI, so it can only be called VIA and not TAXI VIA when TAXI TO RUNWAY is used.

This means that the following can be used:

    • CALLSIGN, TAXI TO RUNWAY R1
    • CALLSIGN, TAXI TO RUNWAY R1, AT T1
    • CALLSIGN, TAXI TO RUNWAY R1, VIA T1, T2, T3, T4, T5, T6
    • CALLSIGN, TAXI TO RUNWAY R1, VIA T1, R2, T3, T4, T5, T6
    • CALLSIGN, TAXI TO RUNWAY R1, AT T1, VIA T2, T3, T4, T5, T6
    • CALLSIGN, TAXI TO RUNWAY R1, AT T1, VIA T2, R2, T4, T5, T6

For lack of space, however, I will not write the individual options in the reference card.

tower3d.rec mod and reference card updated

    • Option added to use a taxiway entry when using TAXI TO RUNWAY.

Line up and wait without specifying a runway definitely does not follow FAA standards. Can’t speak to other agencies.

I am pretty sure that it also does not meet the standards of other agencies. However, I would like to emphasize that this is not the goal of the modified REC file.

The goal is to make all voice commands that the game understands available to the players. Whether they are realistic or not is secondary.

As far as I know, you would not attach wind information to a landing permission. The landing permission would be called as the essential part of the instruction at the end, after any wind and other information. However, the game only allows it the other way around. Nevertheless, this command is in the REC mod.
One would probably also not combine wind information with a line up or append detailed taxi instructions to a pushback command, which may not be realistic, but helpful if you want to challenge yourself with an unrealistically high number of flights.

As I said, the sole purpose here is to make the new and modified / extended commands available to the players. A player who values realism will most likely only use commands that are as close to real life as possible.
However, in my opinion, this does not mean that not all players should be able to have access to all commands that the game understands, regardless of whether a player decides to use them or not.
Every player has to decide that for him or herself.

  10. tower3d.rec Mod  and Voice Commands - Reference Card  have been updated

    tower3d.rec Mod

3 new "old" commands were found by a wildcarded (<- that a word?) community member for you to use.

    • TAXI TO RUNWAY X (instead of just RUNWAY X or CONTINUE TAXI after the pushback)
    • TAXI INTO POSITION AND HOLD (uses runway and path [if issued] from pushback command)
    • LINE UP AND WAIT (w/o prefixing a runway, uses runway and path [if issued] from pushback command)

That is the latest version. 🙂 It has not been updated recently.

SP3.3c is from March 2018 if I am not mistaken. To call it "recently" is quite a stretch. 😄😉 Not even your Current Versions Sheet goes back that far!

However, should other users have a similar question in the future, it might be helpful to include the exact version number of both the website and Steam version in your thread. Just an idea!

  12. As far as I know Virgin Atlantic used 4 liveries during the time the A340-600s were active. Starting with the blue frame and ending with the Thank You livery. Not all of the aircraft were repainted in the same year accordingly to the change of livery, but several (if not all) aircraft carried more than one of the liveries. (The order was, if I am not mistaken, blue frame, light red, metallic red, thank you.)

Assuming my information is correct, there was not a single aircraft (reg no.) that had a custom livery. Exactly which aircraft served Gabor as a template should therefore be irrelevant.

At least that is my humble opinion, provided I got your initial question right, especially because...

  13. Since 3/15/2020, 5,000 schedules have been created using the Schedule Builder. The Schedule Information Tool has also been used more than 5,000 times and the Callsign Tool almost 3,000 times, while the Schedule Creator currently records an average of 96 logins per week, although the latter is not particularly conclusive.

I would like to take this opportunity, this little milestone, to thank you, the community, who enjoy using my little tools/websites.
Thank you very much that all the time I have put into this leisure project has not been in vain.

At the same time, I would also like to inform you about the future of the tools.

Among other things, there is still a bug with FlightAware data in the Creator, which will be fixed, and also the introduction video I still owe you. This should be done by the end of July 2021.
After that I don't intend to work on the tools any further, unless adjustments are necessary to keep the websites running. The websites will be online for at least the next 2 years, longer if traffic is still generated then.

Since I don't plan to make any changes after the end of next month, I'd like to ask you to let me know if you want to see any changes, especially to the Schedule Builder.
There will be no new features nor new airports available, but maybe a concourse/terminal of an airport will open in the foreseeable future where the terminal is currently unused, which should be covered before the end of next month.
For this I would like to receive your requests for changes - or not, should you be happy with the way things are right now.

Either way, thanks again to all who are having fun with the tools and hopefully will for some time to come.

  14. Update v0.9h

    • LTFM data added

The bug from v0.9g where FlightAware flights with single digit flight numbers are dropped is included in this update as well. I am still working on a fix.
I am also still trying to find time to record the help video. (Wonder if it is even of interest at this point!?!)
Please excuse that it is hard for me to find time to work on the website these days.

  15. @FeelThere the current website does a decent impression. Load times are improved and the whole site feels much more responsive.
Switching back to BMT Micro certainly makes sense as well. But why VAT now has to be excluded again, I don't understand. I can't imagine it helps sales having non-US residents pay up to 30% surcharge. But that should not be my concern. I'm sure you know what you're doing.
