    Vic,

In a perfect world I would love to meet up with the FeelThere team and the other members of this forum. I am sure it would be a really enjoyable & interesting event. Sadly, I think real world logistics would significantly reduce attendance pssibilities. If the 'locations' of members of this forum are correct you seem to have customers from all over the world so travel, even for such a potentially great meeting of FT friends, might be too difficult. My family home is thousands of miles from where I work so a trip to chat with my T3D sim buddies instead of going home would not go down well at home.

May I propose the first meeting is at KATL? (How about that for an idea Avwriter?!?! ?)

Ha ha.  KATL works for me :-)  Look at it this way.  According to statistics you will all come through here sooner or later anyway.  Supposedly, you even have to change flights here when you die, but let's try not to wait that long ;-)

    Hello,

Could anybody possibly share a challenging schedule for klax? At the moment the one shared by Dick or the standard one is not enough traffic. Or is there a place where these are shared?

    Looking forward to a reply,

    Marco

Why not just use schedule Creator?  If you like I will be happy to use it to create a sample one for you.  How many flights per hour would you like?  100, 150, 200, 250?  Realistic would be around 160-170/hour depending on time of day.

  3. Be sure to buy only the packs labeled Real Color 3D, and not the ones for Tower2011 .  Real Color 3D works in both Tower3D and Tower 3D Pro.  You unzip them to FeelThere/Tower3DPro/Extensions/Airfields/xxxx, where xxxx represents the identifier of the airport in question (KLAX, KPHL,etc.).  Each Real Color product is for a specific airport.

Sorry Folks, it was just a naming issue. I'm uploading a new version (same files but correct txt and naming. The beer is on me next time for this :)
Oh by the way; feelThere is turning 15 years old this year. This weekend we will have a nice company meeting in Prague. I've been always thinking about it; would you be interested to meet somewhere and have a nice little feelThere meeting where we could meet in person, tell stories, ask questions, etc?

Could we get a specific list of the changes in KSAN SP2?

  5. There is no need/reason to install them to your desktop.

    1. You must first install the Real Traffic add-on.  The texture packs will not work without it.  Just run the RT installer, and point it to the root directory of your T3DPro installation (FeelThere/Tower3DPro).

    2. Installing RT will automatically create a new folder in your Pro directory called "Extensions".  Inside this folder will be two more folders called "Airfields" and "Airplanes".  In the "Airfields" folder, you will see sub-folders for each airport, i.e. KLAX, KPHL etc.

    3. The texture packs for each airport must be installed individually.  As an example, for KLAX, run the installer for that pack, and point it to FeelThere/Tower3DPro/Extensions/Airfields/KLAX.  Repeat this for each additional texture pack that you bought.  That's it.  You are done.

Just downloaded Real Traffic for Pro, KSAN has no aircraft at the terminals has anyone the same, I know it is Nyergesdesign issue but I wondered if it is my fault in someway  before taking further steps. I did download KSAN SP2 before.

I experienced this after installing KSAN SP2, but before installing the new version of Real Traffic.  Thus, I suspect that after installing KSAN, you installed Real Traffic to the wrong location (is your Pro installation different from the default location?  If so, then be sure to point it to the root directory of your Pro installation) and thus never really installed it to Pro.

  7. We may be having some confusion over what is meant by "jerky".  To the original poster, are you describing something akin to what futureboy is describing, or is it more along the lines of what one sees with a low frame rate?

If the camera is following a plane, and you do not wish it to, then tapping the mic button once will deselect the plane, at which point you may pan freely with the mouse.

  8. In the settings section of the menu go to Advanced graphics area, and experiment with different settings to see what works best on your machine.  In particular, you might try using a different AA setting, and turning off or reducing the quality of shadows.  Do you see this jerkiness with all traffic levels, or only when the traffic is heavy?  Likewise, does it get better at smaller airports or is it the same everywhere?  Stormy weather and night time seem to take more of a toll than clear weather during the day, so you might keep this in mind when running a lot of traffic at a big field like KLAX or KJFK.

  9. I just tried redownloading it and got the same thing.  Previously the two .exe files were labeled:  KSAN_for_Tower3D_SP1 and KSAN_for_Tower3DPro_SP1.

We have been expecting a new version (SP2) of KSAN for the last few days, so my guess its that they just uploaded it to the server, and accidentally misnamed the files.  I would suggest holding off for a few hours, or until Vic replies to this thread.  I am sure they will correct it as soon as possible.

Thank you so much, one more question.  i have the pro version does real traffic for 9.99 on the site. does it still give you the more realistic aircraft models or does the pro version already have all of it? :D

No the Pro version does NOT already have the extra aircraft and schedule built in.  If you run it without Real Traffic, then you will see fake airlines and about half a dozen aircraft types.  In that regard, it is the same as the standard version of Tower3D.  All add-ons, including the traffic add-ons, are compatible with both versions.  What sets Pro apart are the features (voice, complex commands, multiplayer, control over lights, switching runways during a session, wind, etc).  I know all this may seem a bit counter-intuitive, but the developers are following the structure that was established with Tower2011.   By the way, when buying the Real Traffic and Real Color, BE CAREFUL to buy the ones that are listed as "3D".  There are products with identical names being sold for Tower2011, and which are NOT compatible with Tower3D/T3D Pro.

so what  pack do i buy :)  real world schedule  i want  it

Must buy = Real Traffic.  This gives you the schedule, and more importantly many many many realistic aircraft models instead of the half dozen or so that come with the base game.

Pick and choose = Real Color.  The RC packs are designed to fit the schedules for specific individual airports.  However, the liveries in any one pack carry over to the other airports, so that it is not strictly necessary to buy the RC for each airport in the game in order to have real liveries at each airport.  Let me give you an example.  If you buy RC for KLAX, you will get liveries for all of the flights on the schedule for that airport.  This will include a bunch of liveries for airlines like Delta, American, Southwest, and United, as well as some less frequent visitors such as Quantas, Lufthansa, KLM, etc which may only have a couple of flights in there per day.

Now let's say that after installing RC for KLAX, that you start a session for KPHL.  At KPHL, you will notice that even though you do not have the RC pack for that airport, you will still see some planes in Delta and United liveries, and may even see a Lufthansa A340 if you happen to start at the right time.  However, you will also see some planes with blank liveries from carriers like Air Wisconsin which do not serve KLAX.  You may also notice that the Delta 717s will be painted in Delta liveries, but that the Delta MD-80s are blank; this is because the included schedule for KLAX does not include any Delta MD-80s, although KPHL does.  Thus, if having a few blank liveries does not bother you, then you can settle for just buying the pack for KLAX.  However, if the blank planes bother you, then you will need to pony up for the KPHL pack as well.   In general, I personally find that buying the packs for a couple or three of the major airports, like KLAX and KJFK will cover the vast majority of aircraft you will see at the smaller airports like KPHL and KSAN.  A white plane may show up every once in a while, but that is not so unrealistic either.  After all, white painted airplanes are used in the real world for numerous reasons (prisoner transport, some other government flights, even some aircraft that are being leased to another airline temporarily; such planes are seen at most major airports periodically.  In the end, it's up to you.  Hope this helps.

  12. If they are showing blank with no liveries, then most likely Real Traffic installed correctly.  You should now have a much larger variety of aircraft types than before.  Real Color involves a separate product for each airport, and must be installed that the folder for that specific airport.  Most likely you installed it to the wrong location.  Be sure the Real Color installer is pointed to FeelThere/Tower3DPro/Extensions/Airfields/xxxx.  XXXX=the identifier for the airport you are trying to install, such as KSAN, KLAX, etc.

  13. "IFR trafic don't likes paterns:) "

This is true, but it does happen at times, even a busy airports, especially if there is an emergency and an unusual handling becomes necessary (fun that now we can simulate this if desired even if it is not something modeled in the sim).  Plus, sometimes I am just in a mood to give myself a little extra challenge.  Its great that there are multiple ways to accomplish it though, just an in real life.

  14. Never had a problem with go-arounds.  As the plane passes down the runway, I tell it to turn left or right 90 degrees, then after it moves 4-5 miles away I give it another 90 degree onto down wind, and then issue a turn on to base when it looks like there is a break in the traffic on final.  For the final turn, I issue a 45 degree turn and then issue the command "Enter Final Runway XX."  Works every time.

  15. True are talking ab out controllers here.  Part of a controllers job is to regularly read out the current wind to pilots, usually with the takeoff clearance. This is done in the format Wind 270 at 8, meaning that the wind is coming from 270 degrees.  Thus, it would only be intuitive for them to have indicators that give readouts in the same format to avoid mistakes.   Hopefully Vic can clarify what is going on in Tower 3D Pro, and whether either their indicator readout was accidentally reversed, or whether the winds themselves were accidentally set up backwards to the way they were intended.

  16. I have said it before; adding a "shifting winds" scenario to the weather choices would make the new wind feature in Pro much more meaningful and interesting.  Nevertheless, we need to get the base winds sorted out first, so things make sense.  I can only assume that someone on the development team is a little confused about how wind reporting works (at least in an aviation context).  As has been stated several times now, wind is normally reported as coming "from"  or "out of" a given direction, not going toward it.
