1. Pete, Which scenery files are you reading? If you are getting the runway information from the default airport bgl files, then the header for the airport contains the country information. The following is the example from the SDK (apologies if there's an egg-sucking analogy here - you probably know more about this stuff than I do!) <Airport region="North America" country="United States" state="Illinois" city="Peru" name="Illinois Valley Regional" lat="41.35186742" lon="-89.15308328" alt="199.33918762" magvar="0.0" ident="KVYS"> <!-- Extra Airport facility data --> </Airport> That should be present for all airports, with the runway section below where the example states "<!-- Extra Airport facility data -->". Ian P.
2. If the aircraft in question is the iFly B737, the best answer is just to turn the throttle sensitivity down a notch in the iFly configuration tool, just for the record. (That's the most commonly complained about aircraft with this issue!) Ian P.
3. I presume this is for a home cockpit then? If so, I'd suggest yes, a switch with an LED would work fine, procedurally - but it might be worth checking with an avionics tech or a manual or something whether it is supposed to go "bleep" or something, as well as just light a red LED? Cheers, Ian P.
4. Exactly as the thread title says... "The most pointless gauge in FSX ever". The ELT switch as described in that thread does nothing but simulate a test. It's a dummy switch. Presuming it is a gauge as stated then you could possibly pick up a Local variable and program it to be switched using LUA, but all it'll do is move a switch backwards and forwards that has no effect on anything other than the switch itself If you're lucky it might make a sound. It's a bit like the "Panic buttons" you can get that are a doorbell button in the middle of a plastic placard that says "Panic Button". You can press it. It won't achieve anything, but you can press it any time you want! Cheers, Ian P.
5. Sorry. That's probably my fault - I'm a bit slow at the moment. Can't get to authorise first posts as quickly as I'd like sometimes. Ian P.
6. Possibly nothing to do with it, but I get microstutters in FSX if my Samsung printer driver monitor is running in the background. I can have anything else I like, but that one background process causes stutters. Might be worth checking what else is running using task manager and killing anything and everything you can? Ian P.
7. Thanks guys. I missed that bit, sorry... I blame the pills.  Ian P.
8. Hi David, I'm not Pete, but can answer your question. If you log into your account at simMarket and click on "my products" at the top right of the page, you will find a list of any and all purchases you have made there, including FSUIPC. Clicking on the entry for FSUIPC will allow you to recover your details as originally registered. Please note that even if the e-mail you used to register at the time is no longer applicable, it will still work. It is not used for any purpose other than to identify you. However you must use the details exactly as per the original order to register the product. Hope that helps? Ian P.
9. This isn't an FSUIPC issue - you're more likely to get an answer on your other thread, in a more appropriate place! Ian P.
10. I think it's an awareness thing more than anything else, designed to get people to think about what information they are giving out (can we say "Facebook" at this point?) and how it could be used. A lot of it is paranoia - I tend to use "Ian P" simply because it is shorter and quicker to type than putting my full surname - but when sites actively solicit to gather and publish information about you, plus sell it on to advertising and occasionally less reputable companies and individuals, I can see why security types suggest it. How do most people tell what is a webmaster trying to prove you are a real person and not just there to cause trouble, vice a site that just wants your full name and other details as part of a data grab? Ian P(earson).
11. It is recommended by a lot of agencies that you do not post your real and full name on forums Pete, most UK ISPs include it in their "welcome" packs now that it's part of standard online security. The reason is that if you post your full name and where you live on a board and then say "I'm on holiday for two weeks!", it doesn't take much to track down that address for one thing and yes, there are people out there who actively look for that sort of information. Ian P.
12. It sounds like you've managed to program that function somewhere else, such as in the default FS buttons options. The only place FSUIPC settings are stored is in the ini file, so if you've deleted that, there really is nothing assigned by FSUIPC! Best regards, Ian P.
13. It would have been better to put this in Pete Dowson's support forum for FSUIPC, rather than in the FSX general forum. What it sounds like, however, is nothing at all to do with FSUIPC - it sounds like you are running out of RAM. Try turning settings down, or rebuilding FSX.cfg, before you do a full rebuild. However FSUIPC does nothing to graphics and nothing to any aircraft - it's just an interface between the sim and external applications (many of the gauges in complex add-ons are actually run external to the sim - hence the need for FSUIPC). Therefore I do not believe that this is likely to have anything to do with FSUIPC itself. I'll move the thread to Pete's forum for him to look at anyway. Ian P.
14. Just hover your cursor over the clock to the right of the toolbar and a box should pop up with the date. If it says today's date correctly then you're fine. Ian P.
15. I know that every time I get it, the message appears after FSX has crashed or I have failed to shut it down correctly (such as by killing the process, as you say). I don't know why FSUIPC reports it specifically, Pete might be able to help with that one, but I've also seen it very regularly with the LDS767 as I said above and also with a couple of other modules. Pete actually gives better answers than I ever could in a couple of other threads on the subject: If you go to the root of Pete's forum (http://forum.simflight.com/forum/30-fsuipc-support-pete-dowson-modules/) and check that the search box is set to say "This forum", then search for "flight simulator has detected problem with third-party software program" (basically, take out the "the" and the "a" from the error report, or the search code throws a wobbly), I came back with nine threads on the subject. Cheers, Ian P.
16. Hello, Yes, you'll find that one mentioned quite a lot around here. It's a problem with the way the security works and should (although it clearly isn;t in your case) go away after you have accepted the message. I get it occasionally - such as yesterday after another add-on crashed the sim - with both FSUIPC and the LDS B767 modules. It's a false report, not actually an error. Ian P.
17. I believe he means disable the gauge and use a more basic gauge, rather than the hardware, Brad. Ian P.
18. Moved to Pete Dowson's FSUIPC forum - however you'll need to give a lot more information than that before anyone can help you! What is not working exactly? What are you expecting it to do? What exact version of FSUIPC are you using? Registered or unregistered? If you can provide as much information as possible, it will help people assist you. Cheers, Ian P.
19. You don't need to change your e-mail address Luigi, and MUST use the one you registered with. It's only used to identify you, not to communicate with you, so don't worry if it is an old one. If you enter the information exactly as you did when you got your license, it will work fine. Ian P.
20. Hi Bryan, Glad you got it working, however you'll also want to follow Pete's advice regarding installing the latest version. I think I'm going to have to create a standard copy and paste answer for this question, that says "update to the latest version, and use exactly the details as per your registration", it comes up so frequently. Although Pete's probably already done that in the FAQ subforum - I should check that. Cheers, Ian P.
21. Hi Bryan, Post edits, I'll also try and answer some of your queries. 1) E-mail address changes don't worry FSUIPC/WIDEFS - it's a method used to identify you during registration, not for communication, so it doesn't matter whether the e-mail address still exists, it is tied to your registration and you can continue to use it. 2) Can you please ensure that you are entering your information exactly as you did when you registered please? The easy way to check is to log in to your account at simMarket, go to My Products at the top right, select the version of FSUIPC/WIDEFS you are trying to register and copying your details directly from there. Almost always, when registration fails, it's because of an input error (even copying and pasting you can end up with extra spaces or similar). The codes don't stop working after a period of time or a hardware change. Hope that helps? All the best, Ian P.
22. I don't think I have any drivers installed at the moment, I believe the Saitek devices are all running on generic Windows Human Interface Device drivers - that may well cause an effect, particularly if SST is assigning controls when it detects you have run a certain application. I have Logitech device software running for my steering wheel (which doesn't work on generic HID) and that changes the wheel setting depending on what application I am running. Ian P.
23. You need to ensure that it is calibrated correctly and that the calibration moves smoothly throughout the range. I have Saitek TQs and use them without any problem for split throttles, mixtures and prop controls, so there's nothing specific to the Saitek controls that stops them working. Are you sure that you're assigning them as mixture controls and not fuel cut-off controls? Those are the first two suggestions that come to mind. Cheers, Ian P.
24. You'll need to provide a lot more information than that before someone can help, Willem. What version of FSUIPC/WIDEFS are you running? What firewall software are you running? Can you run other software across the network? What steps have you already taken to try and resolve this? Any information you can provide will help. Ian P.
25. Try renaming fsx.cfg (you'll find it in C:\Users\*username*\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX) to "fsx.cfgold" and then restarting the sim, which will cause it to rebuild the CFG file. If that works, unfortunately, you will have to reset all your preferences and settings. If it doesn't help, you can always delete your new fsx.cfg and simply rename your fsx.cfgold back to fsx.cfg to restore it. I seem to remember that the black aircraft preview window was something to do with graphics drivers - you haven't updated or changed settings on those recently, have you? Ian P.
