  1. Hello, Yes, you can install newer versions of FSUIPC over older versions, so you do not need to uninstall 4.7 - just install 4.8 over the top. Ian P.
  2. That review is actually a perfect example of very poor reviewing. As you say, the author doesn't mention the lack of ability to use it with anything but default coded aircraft at all, which is a massive ommission. That is exactly the reason I bought a VRinsight M-Panel (more expensive, but a lot better made) after doing some research into the Saitek units. VRi units are not recognised as HIDs either and use their own software to connect, but there are ways of programming them through FSUIPC if you are so inclined. At some point I really do have to try bending the VRi M-Panel to my will and doing LUA/Macro programming for it. I have the virtual serial ports emulator to allow FSUIPC to snatch control, but have just never got around to doing it as other things keep jumping into the "to do" list right at the top! Anyway. Yes, I agree that your point is valid, but whether you want to take that up with Pete on his return is up to you. I won't comment further on it on this thread, just to keep the thread a bit clearer for its intended purpose! Cheers, Ian P.
  3. When Pete says he will not add support for Saitek devices, he means that he will not use FSUIPC to directly support them - not that he will not answer users' questions when they are using Saitek devices. What this means is that Pete will not make Saitek devices work better than they do and he will not add any specific functions or controls for them. Also yes, I can confirm that this is a long standing and well known issue. Pete does not choose to publicly go around grinding an axe against Saitek for what happened, so that's up to him. All Andy was doing was making you aware of the situation. Cheers, Ian P. Forum Admin Team.
  4. Log in to simMarket, check your account and you will find all the registration details under your order history. All the best. Ian P.
  5. FS9 allocates a standard set of controls to any and every "joystick" device it finds, whether it's actually a joystick or not. It's not a copy of another set of assignments as such, it's a standard set that are applied to devices The classic one to note is when your toe brakes control pitch and yaw and you have a load of buttons assigned that don't exist, as soon as you plug rudder pedals in! Ian P.
  6. Hello. There's no reason it won't work now, if it did before, unless it has specifically been blocked for some reason (usually because a code was "shared" on a site or forum, but as you have order details, it's unlikely to be that). Otherwise, these are the three usual issues: 1) Are you trying to register FSUIPC4 with an FSUIPC3 key? If so, it;s a different version and needs a new key purchased. 2) Are you using EXACTLY the same details that you used when you registered it? If you have changed e-mail addresses, use your old one. 3) If in doubt, go to your simMarket account and copy and paste the details from the original order. Hope that helps. Ian P.
  7. What do you mean by "latest", David? Pete needs a version number to help. Ian P.
  8. I think this is an FSUIPC question, from the version reference. Apologies if it isn't, but it was posted to the FSX forum. Ian P.
  9. Moved from FAQ forum and as a translation, Pete, that's a "Trojan Horse"... Steff: What AV package are you using? Ian P.
  10. I'm working from memory here because I'm on my notebook, but I think that is correct for an unlicensed copy of FSUIPC. The other tabs - and hence their functionality - do not become available until the module is licensed. Ian P.
  11. Just go to simMarket, log in to your account and look at "My orders" (top right). All the details will be stored there. Ian P.
  12. Hi Jimmy, What the "includes" means is that there are no longer seperate files for FSUIPC and WideServer - the WideServer content has been included in the FSUIPC .dll file. You DO need to purchase seperate licenses for the two and licensing FSUIPC will not unlock the WideFS functionality or vice versa - the two can be licensed independently or together, but for full functionality of both WideFS and FSUIPC, licenses for both are required. Does that help? All the best, Ian P.
  13. That's not something Pete or simFlight forums have any control over, unfortunately. You'd be better reporting the error to the Flight Simulator Network admins, as they're the only ones who can fix it. Ian P.
  14. Doug did post the details at the top of the registration, Pete, that was what I removed because the key was part of the post. In hindsight, it might have been better to have cut it rather than deleting it and sent it to you privately. Sorry. Ian P.
  15. Moved to Pete's support forum.
  16. It's probably worth adding here that I don't think many people realise quite how often, during the day, you visit the forum to do support Pete... For those who don't, I'm stuck at home 24/7 at the moment, so am checking the forums regularly for spam and posts that need moderating/moving to the right place. It's very rare, even when I check in the early hours of the morning, that anything in the FSUIPC forum hasn't already been responded to. Thanks for making my job easier, too, Pete! Ian P.
  17. Your registration details will work fine - provided they are entered EXACTLY as per your original purchase. Copy and paste the data from your purchase order at simMarket, for preference. That way you'll know it's correct. If entered correctly, nothing will stop it working on your new PC. Cheers, Ian P.
  18. Thread moved to Pete's support forum. Ian P.
  19. The wind change control is a feature of the registered version of FSUIPC, so you'd need to license it to change the behaviour. I know that some newer weather applications also claim to be able to limit wind shifts, but unfortunately as I've not been able to test that behaviour (I don't have the programs!) then I cannot say whether they work or not. Cheers, Ian P.
  20. Windows 3.11 supported speech synthesis - but until fairly recently you had to download "Microsoft Speech" to use it, from what I remember. I certainly remember trying to convince Windows 3.11 to say "Ian" and "Steven", in the office. It never did quite manage it, no matter how creative we got with the spellings! Anyway. That's a slight aside. Ian P.
  21. It was one of the recommended ones for IYP which made me not want to use the speech engine last time. It still sounded like Chris Barrie mimicing Kryten mimicing a Sat Nav to me, I'm afraid. However I haven't tried Radar Contact recently, no. The last time I looked at it, that used speech synthesis too, but it was a very long time ago, so I'll stand corrected on that one. Thanks! Cheers, Ian P.
  22. ...or VATSIM, who insist on you using the correct transition altitude, charts and up-to-date navdata, but will actually provide a human being with some common sense as a controller, rather than an utterly illogically programmed ATC system. I only ever used IVAO briefly. At the time it was dominated by Central Europe and if you wanted to fly anywhere outside of a block surrounding Germany across to Poland, forget it. I'm told it's a lot better now. Personally, I continue to use the default ATC when flying airliners because I know and can ignore as incorrect its foibles and failings. I, unfortunately, cannot stand the Canned. Robotic. Voices. that are used by ATC generation add-ons (and no voice yet has ever made Microsoft Speech Engine any less annoying to me), so it's either online (where I have neither the time nor the inclination to do all the pre-flight research they demand) or the default ATC. I'll put up with knowing I'm at the right altitude, but being told to climb or descend 300' to where it thinks I should be. It's the same in FSX, by the way. It was never fixed. Cheers. Ian P.
  23. If you have a license for version 4, you have a license for ALL version 4.xx releases - you don't need to buy it again. At the top of the support forum, there is a "download links" thread, which will take you directly to the latest installer. Cheers, Ian P.
  24. I think he's asking whether FSUIPC provides more functions/options as assignments than FSX does without FSUIPC. Ian P.
