Open and close Active Sky Next with FSUIPC
Ian P replied to doudou's topic in FSUIPC Support Pete Dowson Modules
With the way Windows is programmed, you're far more likely to kill the entire registry by simply doing something silly like "opening a file" than you are to damage a file by closing it unless, as Pete just said, you're writing the file at that time. I'm always very wary of using "kill" for applications rather than "close", but have never yet had a problem doing it, either - ASN is one I've never tried, though, because I run it on a second PC. wideclient with aivlasoft EFB, Pro Atc, Fsgrw
Ian P replied to Z feel free 7's topic in FSUIPC Support Pete Dowson Modules
FSGRW has its own client or can use WideFS/FSUIPC. The instructions in the manual are very well laid out and will explain the process for either method. Ian P. -
Hi, No. FSUIPC is primarily an interface between external programs and MSFS but, when registered, it also allows you to calibrate and controls in a much better way than the default options do, plus control certain aspects of the sim such as the speed of weather changes, autosaves, etc. Cheers, Ian P.

FSUIPC installation on P3d v2.1 without FSX
Ian P replied to Replacement's topic in FSUIPC Support Pete Dowson Modules
Sorry to butt in slightly, but the default ATC - both in FSX and P3D - is very, very, strange indeed and no your experience is not at all unusual. The change in frequency is usually caused by the frequency it wants you to contact changing so, for instance, if you are cleared to climb to 10,000' and at 10,000' you are supposed to change from DEP to CTR, then at around 9,000' you'll get a " contact Centre on..." call. You acknowledge it, then while changing you level off at 10,000', but you're still actually *below* 10,000' so what it actually does is passes you off to the next APP/DEP controller and not CTR! As Pete says, there are a number of much better ATC systems out there, or you can just roll your eyes at and deal with the foibles of the internal one. I really hope that L-M can improve that in a future version, because the current ATC system is more amusing than realistic. ...and with that, I'll shut up and the ATC discussion can continue somewhere more appropriate. Cheers, Ian P. -
FSX not sending position to ADEX
Ian P replied to FlyingBee's topic in FSUIPC Support Pete Dowson Modules
Pause is my usual problem - if I move the aircraft while the sim is paused, the position in ADE is not updated. Unpause briefly, ADE updates, then press pause again. Ian P. -
FSX not sending position to ADEX
Ian P replied to FlyingBee's topic in FSUIPC Support Pete Dowson Modules
As Pete says, the log is a text file, please just open it, select all, copy and paste into a message using the button with the <> symbol at the top of the reply box (under the smiley face). Cheers, Ian P. -
Simple answer to those is I cannot comment because I don't know, but I do use both the ERJs and the E-Jets, so when I can, I'll take a look at the numbers. My guess right now (I'm not on my primary PC and won't be for a while) is that the other aircraft have their loads decreased in the standard configuration to allow them to operate with full tanks. The "fuel tanks always load full" issue has been around for many versions of the sim, so people have regulary tended to operate lower payloads to allow for it. Pretty much every aircraft I now use - espcially the high end ones - I have to do a proper weight calculation before I can use them. Military aircraft are even worse, because most developers seem to fill every load point available with large and impressive ordinance and then the sim puts in full fuel as well! Cheers, Ian P.
-
The answer is that you have either too much load on board to carry that much fuel, or too much fuel on board for that load. It's always a balance with aircraft, because their MAUW (maximum all up weight) is almost always too low to allow them to fill the tanks, fill the seats and go - it doesn't matter if you're in a four seat GA or an 800 seat megaliner. Unfortunately, FSX will only ever fill the tanks unless you set up a custom start flight with less than 100% fuel and most developers fill the seats on an aircraft, so you are flying with maximum zero fuel weight (ZFW). It won't be solved by reinstalling - you'll need to either reduce the load or reduce the fuel on board before you can fly. Cheers, Ian P.

PMDG: How to assign "A/P disengage" to joystick button?
Ian P replied to whiggy's topic in FSUIPC Support Pete Dowson Modules
The PMDG aircraft uses local variables, rather than the default commands which can be selected from that drop-down list. Can I suggest that you check out LINDA? That's an add-on which works through FSUIPC and uses the LUA language to assign functions such as the ones you want. http://fs-linda.com/ Cheers, Ian P. -
Rudder locked not moving
Ian P replied to taufik jarrah's topic in FSUIPC Support Pete Dowson Modules
Browser choice is irrelevant, to be quite honest. The contents of the .ini file are plain text; simply open it in a text editor (e.g. Notepad), select all, copy and paste into the reply window. Some people prefer to put it in "code" tage (the button above showing "<>" but that's not necessary if you don't want to. Ian P. -
Pete is on holiday at the moment. There's a stickied post at the top of the forum that says he will return on the 20th. Cheers, Ian P.

Landing Gear causes View Change
Ian P replied to bradrcfii's topic in FSUIPC Support Pete Dowson Modules
Not quite... You've posted in the "downloads" sub-forum. I'll move your post up to Support. Have you checked that the same button isn't allocated to the change view function inside the sim's settings themselves? That's the most common cause of problems like this. Cheers, Ian P. -
It's unusual for someone to want to go from 4 to 3 - most people want to know if their FSUIPC3 key will work in FSUIPC4, but it's a regular question turned on its head. It's not the answer that people want in the opposite direction, either, so we're kind of used to be being the bearers of bad news... Cheers, Ian P.

Hi, No. FSUIPC3 (for FS9) and 4 (for FSX) are different products with different registration keys that need to be purchased separately. Sorry that's not the news you wanted to hear! All the best, Ian P.

Log in to your simMarket account and look at your order history - your serial numbers and associated information will be there. Cheers, Ian P.

Photoshop, PaintShopPro and GIMP will all open .tga files. GIMP is free open source software, so is probably your best bet if you don't want to buy one of the commercial packages, although from personal experience, both PSP and Photoshop (Elements will do) are massively easier to use than GIMP. The X-55 is MadCatz/Saitek's new HOTAS system, Pete. Joystick, twin throttles, lots of buttons and switches. I don't have one (it would be useless to me and my stupidly small hands) but going from previous experience with Saitek, it should be assignable as normal. Ian P.

Moving from FS Beginners General to FSUIPC support.
-
Unfortunately, given the level of participation people have in the general FS forums, these days, it's highly unlikely that anyone would ever have responded up there to either of them. I felt it was more appropriate to move it down here for you to see the FSUIPC question directly than to ask you to pop up there and kick the tumbleweeds away to find it. ;) Cheers, Ian P.

FSUIPC.ini does not recognize soundcard
Ian P replied to Mr.V's topic in FSUIPC Support Pete Dowson Modules
You have a PM regarding your account details. Cheers, Ian P. -
There is an iFly forum, it is hosted by Flight1 at their "simforums" site. This page will tell you how to get access: http://ifly.flight1.net/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=12&title=how-to-get-access-to-the-licensed-member-area Cheers, Ian P.

Moved to FSUIPC support, because it's more likely that someone will be able to help here than FS9 general. Ian P.
