Are you wanting the taxiway names? Because the taxiways are on the ADIRS (or at least an outline of them are). I've attached a section of the ADIRS from BOS with a lame attempt at demonstrating the taxiways. When I play, I always have an airport diagram (homemade 17x22) handy otherwise I'd be a little lost.

Tower: Schedule Creator 24 V1 Released (Includes CYYZ)
crbascott replied to dickparker's topic in ATC Simulators
Attached is a schedule file I'm using for KLGA based on FlightAware from last Tuesday (I think). Feel free to use and abuse as you see fit. Craig Below are the flights per hour. The time (Hr) is local and will need to be adjusted for UTC. Hr Arr Dep Tot 5 0 5 5 6 4 37 41 7 36 33 69 8 37 42 79 9 36 40 76 10 40 34 74 11 30 37 67 12 33 32 65 13 37 34 71 14 36 35 71 15 36 38 74 16 39 30 69 17 29 33 62 18 34 37 71 19 36 42 78 20 31 21 52 21 38 23 61 22 19 1 20 23 15 0 15 Tot 566 554 1120 schedule_KLGA_CAS.txt -
Check out this thread - it sounds similar to your situation:

So, are you saying that add-on products purchased on the FeelThere site are not supported on the official FeelThere support forum? On the FeelThere site it shows that EGLL was developed by Simulated Designs. Is there contact information included in the airport install files somewhere? A google search produces no results.

I know the excitement is on 3D right now, but has anyone else encountered this issue on good old Tower!2011? FYI - routing to the South Cargo terminal/ramp from 25L worked fine but not 26. Thanks, Craig

Do you mind pointing me to that post containing the hint from Vic?

Dane, I had a similar issue when I first started using Tower!2011. Please see the thread below. Hopefully, it will solve your issue. http://forum.simflight.com/topic/79218-tower-2011-newbie-question-for-st-thomas-stop-and-go/ Craig

Also due to separation restrictions (5nm or one every 90 seconds or so) in Tower!2011, the max number of arrivals in an hour is about 42 no matter how many arrival runways you select. Craig

I don't know if it was on here or facebook, but I recall seeing an issue with cargo arrivals at KPHX. I had a FedEx arrival on 26 and it could not find a route to the South Cargo area - even on a simple "taxi to ramp" I got the dreaded "we request a more logical routing to the terminal/runway" message. Anyone have a fix for this issue? Thanks, Craig

Being relatively new to ATC, how often are landing runways assigned based on terminal/gate? Using DFW as an example, when listening to LiveATC it seems runway assignment is based on arrival direction especial during peak times - west arrivals land 18R and east arrivals land 17C and 17L. Any exceptions require supervisor approval. Craig
-
Good point Mike. In Tower!2011 handling tower and ground for all airports (especially those with multiple runways) is very unrealistic and borderline impossible with a full realistic schedule. For DFW, I ended up creating specific east/west schedules to make it somewhat realistic (although still handling ground) and manageable. There was a post asking what add-on airports we wanted to see. As you mentioned, for me it depends on the core sim. If the guts of 3D is basically a rewrite of Tower!2011 (with a much more appealing visual interface), then the add-ons I want/purchase might be different than say a new engine where you interface with other controllers (AI or live if easy to match up with someone). However, the thought of new add-ons that could be out of date is a little disappointing (LAX without TBIT, ORD missing runways, etc.). Since LAX is included, it will be interesting to see what it looks like. Craig

I didn't expect much difference, but was actually surprised by the result. For the first 13R arrival, it waited until the 17L arrival was at the 10 mile marker on the DBRITE. So, there was a an even larger separation (see screenshot). As a result, the minimum separation we will see is 5nm - which is based on the distance from airport and not distance from the previous aircraft (with aircraft type being irrelevant in determining separation). Bottom line - although there is not a programmed arrival limit, it does appear an arrival capacity of 42ish does exist due to separation and no parallel approaches. We'll have to wait and see what Tower! Pro has to offer regarding arrival capacity and parallel approaches (among other exciting new features). Craig
-
Aircraft type doesn't make a difference on initial separation. In my first test, the screen shot reflects an E70 followed by CR7, M80, ER4, and 319. As a follow up, I did a quick test using 388 and DH8. According to the airplane editor, the 388 has a landing speed of 151 knots and the DH8 is 95 knots. All aircraft regardless of type begin the arrival flying 219 knots with an altitude of 3600 feet and an initial separation of 5nm. They stay at that speed and altitude until roughly 11 miles out, then the aircraft begin to slow down to land. That's really the only difference. Attached are two more screenshots.of the DBRITE for your viewing pleasure. Craig

OK, here are the results of my test. DFW Airport - the normal runways (18R, 17C, 17L) setup for arrivals. The schedule.txt file consisted of 60 arrivals starting at 17:00 (UTC 22:00) spaced 1 minute apart. There were no departures. I started the game at UTC 21:00 just in case any arrivals would show up early. They did not. The first arrival appeared on the DBRITE at 22:00 and contacted the tower at 22:00:34. The second arrival contacted tower at 22:02:05, the third at 22:03:30, the fourth at 22:05:03, the 30th at 22:40, and the 40th at 23:00. The 60th and final arrival made contact 23:28:50. It was very obvious that the arrivals were always separated by 5nm (I've attached a DBRITE screenshot that clearly shows this) and roughly 90 seconds as mentioned above. So, unless the 5nm separation can be adjusted by aircraft type or simultaneous arrivals become a new feature, then there is definitely an arrival "limit" of 40ish per hour. Craig PS: This was a really boring test - not much variety in handling 60 straight arrivals. It was obvious after about 5 arrivals what the pattern was, but I figured I had to stick it out. Interestingly, for the first hour only 18R and 17C were assigned. Finally at 23:02 17L was assigned and then it was assigned for every remaining arrival. Also, when contacted by the final arrival I still had 4 planes in the air and 11 taxiing. I probably still had another 30 minutes to go to clear my strip. DFW is big and it takes aircraft a while to begin and complete taxiing.
-
FeelThere, There may not be a specific number limit but the software definitely has a algorithm that limits arrivals based on something - possibly initial separation. And the fact that it doesn't appear to handle simultaneous arrivals on different runways is also a primary factor. I can put together a schedule at DFW with aircraft arriving every minute for 60 minutes and open up the 3 arrival runways and I'm pretty sure it will take an 1 1/2 to two hours for all 60 planes to eventually report to the tower. If I do that I'll report back my results. Craig
-
Despite the fact we can edit the schedules, it appears the game limits the number of arrivals. I've seen around 40/hour quoted several times on the forum. Regarding the skipping of smaller airplanes, I personally have not noticed it but I haven't really looked for that issue either.. We'll have to wait and see what Tower 3D delivers regarding arrival capacity. Craig

Tracon 2012 Mark Hargrove Tutorials .asx file LAX Tuned
crbascott replied to quincysw1's topic in ATC Simulators
Those videos were made back in 2012. I'm guessing that map you mention was on the original forum. Apparently they had to scrap the original forum due to spam posts among other reasons. Unfortunately, all the good educational stuff that was shared on that forum was lost. Craig -
The PTT key cannot be reassigned. The only option is to find something that can emulate pressing the tab key. I had a foot switch and accompanying software that worked but it broke after a couple of months of use (cheaply made). I haven't tried anything with my joystick yet. Craig

FYI - This issue has already been posted on Nyerges Design's facebook page and they haven't responded in over 10 days.

I see the same thing with Tracon - no matter the UTC or sector. It will take 30 minutes or so before the first arrival hand-off. If handling arrivals only, I just change the setting to 8X and wait until they show up. After the initial delay the arrival density seems fine.

Tracon 2012: KMIA Low Number of Arrivals with Config file
crbascott replied to crbascott's topic in ATC Simulators
I figured out the issue. I had to change the HILEY TWO (now HILEY SIX) arrival to start at MLB instead of OMN. Now the flights seem to follow the config file (i.e, use the HILEY SIX STAR). When letting TRACON determine the route everything from the north seemed to use ANNEY ONE. ANNEY ONE begins at MLB so I thought I'd give it a shot. Not sure why this fixed things, but it did nonetheless. Anyone have a clue as to why? -
Tracon 2012: KMIA Low Number of Arrivals with Config file
crbascott posted a topic in ATC Simulators
I've noticed an oddity while playing Tracon 2012 at KMIA in that the number of airplanes handled while controlling approaches is quite low. However, when removing (or renaming) the config file the flight volume is doubled. In testing this situation I extracted an hour of arrivals and created the small schedule file (attached). The total number of arrival flights is 27. Using this schedule file and the cfg file only 9 airplanes ever show up in the game. When I remove the cfg file (actually just rename it) the number of flights appearing in the game doubles to 18. However, obviously they don't use the preferred STARs. I haven't really noticed this situation in LAX but it could exist there too. Has anyone else run across this? Any idea why all 27 flights don't show up (with or without the cfg file)? Is there some sort of internal arrival governor on the game? From what I can tell departures are OK. If it matters, my OS is Windows 10 and I am running version 5.829.1077 of Tracon 2012. Oh, and my density sliders are maxed out. I'd appreciate any insights. Thanks, Craig schedule_KMIA_Arr_Test.txt -
Looking at your game.log file, I think the problem is in your terminal configuration file. You should see a file named Seattle_Airport_Terminal.txt in the Airfields folder. For every airline in your schedule, you need an entry in the terminal file. Your schedule appears to be different from mine, but hopefully using the sample below you can edit your file by adding the appropriate airlines and see some incoming activity. Terminal_GA: GA Terminal_North: ASA Terminal_South: ANA,AAR,BAW,CFG,UAE,EVA,CHH,HAL,ICE,KAL,DLH,CAL Terminal_A: ACA,JZA,SCX,AAL,EGF,AWE,UAL,USA,SKW,CFS Terminal_B: FFT,SWA,VRD,DAL,CPZ Terminal_C: ASA,QXE Terminal_D: ASA,JBU,DAL,AAL,EGF Terminal_Cargo: NAC,FDX Of the errors that you brought up, I see #2 and #3 on several airports. Not sure how it affects the game though - would definitely like to know for sure. Regarding #1, it looks like those airports need to be added to the airports.txt file in the Databases folder. Happy editing, Craig

I have both TRACON and TOWER. TOWER is where I see the departures and takeoffs registered. I see the same thing as you with TRACON, but my assumption is that as a TRACON controller you are not responsible for the actual landing/takeoff. Either that, or it's a bug! :P
