Issue with installing Tower!3d on new laptop
crbascott replied to Twan Trienekens's topic in ATC Simulators
Obviously, still an issue. https://steamcommunity.com/app/588190/discussions/0/3122660456803039000/ https://steamcommunity.com/app/588190/discussions/0/3105775128743160943/ -
Pushback error (Road calculation error) Terminal 2 KPHX
crbascott replied to koohead's topic in ATC Simulators
ANA? I have to assume this is a fantasy schedule. Pushback problems are a common theme for the game engine and airports. Some gates/pushbacks just won't work. So, no real solution other than maybe trying smaller planes. -
How do you set up Multiplayer (Tower!3D Pro)
crbascott replied to Flight ATC's topic in ATC Simulators
Actually joining the Discord server will be your best bet (see invite below - good for 7 days). Historically, the forum has not been a good place for multiplayer support. People will give you "real time" help on the Discord server which is what you need, assuming folks are available. In addition I'd recommend checking out https://portforward.com/ to learn about the "2112 stuff". https://discord.gg/hU6hfPNs -
I built my schedules from FlightAware and always found that the charter name was included on the flight information page.
-
@Ron C You only need IATA codes if you plan to put them in the commercial schedule and park at a terminal. In most cases I would just use the GA schedule since most of the charter flights use GA areas. You can still use the charter call sign in the GA schedule, so I never saw the need or had a reason to create dummy IATA codes and add those flights to the commercial schedule.
-
I think it is due more to the runway layout than a bug. That’s why in real life they do arrivals on 27R and departures on 27L to avoid separation issues. And then if you try to add 26 to the mix, you’re just asking for trouble.
-
Yep, but without a redesigned (and I assume expanded) Terminal 3 the loss of gates just means more flights end up not showing up. Hopefully the next version will deliver as promised and with editing tools we can future proof things (or add thing the devs left out). @Ron C I doubt that was the point of @HappyNUyear’s post but sure creating unreal IATA codes for cargo, charter, etc. is definitely an option at any airport/terminal. As one who likes to keep it real, I’m not a fan of this approach but to each their own.
-
You can’t presume anything. Especially when you have no control over speed and you are getting the handoff off 20 miles out. Plus using runway 26 is highly questionable.
-
Unless KPHX gets updated (which is highly unlikely) by the developer, we pretty much have to live with version we have. The same thing goes for all the other airports as at least 75% have undergone reconstruction of one form or another before and after the developers released it.
-
Can you describe the lagginess? Is it in gameplay, departures, arrivals, voice recognition, etc.?
-
Not pictures, but live webcams of the South side of the airport. They show the cargo areas real well that were left out of both Tower!2011 and Tower!3D. https://airportwebcams.net/los-angeles-international-airport-webcam/

Nope, that's not the way this thing works. In single player, you are the only controller. There are no AI controllers. So, when you select Approach the only flights you see are arrivals and you control all of them. Likewise for departures, you'll see only departures and you are responsible for all of them. As a result, the scenario you desire is impossible as a single player. It is, however, possible in multiplayer with you controlling arrivals and and another person controlling departures. The challenge is finding a multiplayer partner for a 10 year old game. Good luck!

I'm not going to argue with you on this one. 😉
-
How do you know this? I guess one could run a test at KPHX with a schedule of all departures and all heavies to see how many gates are populated? But, you turned this around rather quickly.

Instead of using a random model, I’m relatively sure it uses the far right classification (in this case REGIONAL JET) to assign a generic model if a specific model is not found.

Tower3D Pro: Need help troubleshooting schedule/terminal files
crbascott replied to koohead's topic in ATC Simulators
Yes you do, assuming you have a legitimate copy of the software. KLAX, KPHL, and TIST are included in the base package. -
Tower3D Pro: Need help troubleshooting schedule/terminal files
crbascott replied to koohead's topic in ATC Simulators
There’s more to life than just EGLL. 😀 If you run a test at KPHL using Terminal D you’ll find 2 gates that only props can park at and two gates where only an A388 can park. A DH4 can park anywhere. The termlimit parameter specifies the max plan size allowed. -
Tower3D Pro: Need help troubleshooting schedule/terminal files
crbascott replied to koohead's topic in ATC Simulators
There’s actually three. Gates have a parameter called termlimit and there are three values that allow the following planes to park: 0 - props 1 - anything but heavy 2 - all, including heavy. But, unfortunately, this parameter is not visible to us so there’s really nothing we can do with it. -
Tower3D Pro: gaandlocaltraffic.txt file format tips?
crbascott replied to koohead's topic in ATC Simulators
I'm going to be bold and say this is impossible. What you think is a pair and what the game thinks is a pair may not match. Additionally if you are using real life schedules, planes can be scheduled/towed for maintenance and never depart. So, pairing is a noble idea but not worth the time and effort in my opinion. As @hexzed said, you'll need to take the flights out of the GA schedule file and add them to the main schedule file. Gates are a precious commodity with this game, why would you want GA to park at a regular terminal? The GA schedule file does not use the airlines file (or airports file for that matter), so you can put whatever you want in there. -

If I’m not mistaken, leaving an entry blank could result in any airline using that terminal. Hence the use of XXX. -
Tower3D Pro: Need help troubleshooting schedule/terminal files
crbascott replied to koohead's topic in ATC Simulators
Unfortunately, the error messages in the log file can be cryptic. The issue has nothing to do with the B738, but is actually due to the terminal edits you made. It's ok to move cargo airlines to one terminal, but the game engine and/or airport is expecting an entry for Terminal_west_cargo and Terminal_east_cargo in your kphx_terminal.txt file. Instead of deleting these entries and assuming you don't want anything to use these "terminals" I would suggest adding the following to your terminal file: Terminal_west_cargo: XXX Terminal_east_cargo: XXX In addition to the above issue, you are going to be dropping a few flights because of an invalid airport code (MSD). I believe the airport code you actually want to use is SJD. Unfortunately, Joe had a tendency for bugs and his GA schedules were not realistic. -

Exactly what type of optimization does one get by doing this? -

@kooheadJust doing a quick check and it looks like you have some time formatting issues. You need to make sure your hours have the leading zero. For example 9:33 should be 09:33. -

EGLL London Heathrow - Real Traffic - Monday 6th August 2018
crbascott replied to james143611's topic in ATC Simulators
You need to buy and install Real Traffic - it is required for custom schedules. If you already have it, you probably need to update it.
