Tower3D; Duplicate IATAs in Airlines file

I'm not sure if this was done on purpose, but I thought I would let you know I found duplicate IATAs in the KLAS Airlines file.  Just wanted to bring it to your attention in case it could potentially cause conflicts.

I did not look at any other airports as I assumed this one was the most recent and they all shared the same data for this file.

Here are the ones I found:

Thanks for pointing this out. Hopefully Nyerges will see this and the other posts related to RT and put some effort into improving the quality of the product.

Below are issues I found while just putting 30 minutes of effort into it. These could easily be fixed by Nyerges.

  • PHL terminal assignment
    • FDX and UPS still not included in KPHL terminal file
  • PHL schedule issues (the new schedule just released in SP5)
    • Problematic flights - letters in the flight number cause issues especially when using voice commands

I have mentioned this many times before, but it still occurs in every Real Traffic update.

I never install any new airport or update to the Real Colour or Real Traffic without first putting them into a spare folder & going through them for errors like listed above.  Also backing up all my files that are in use.

As I do individual schedules for each airport I never us the published ones as they don't cover some flights. I compare the new airlines file with the current one that I use & amend the current one as required, if required. This makes sure there are no redundant or fallen flag airlines in them. For the ICAO & IATA codes, in real life there are duplicates & if you look at them closely, they usually are airlines that would not operate in the same area. I just delete or // out those who would not operate into the airports on Tower. Even the terminal files sometimes need tweaking. After tweaking, you can  copy them into the correct folder.

How many times do we need to tell Nyerges about these airlines that no longer exist or duplicates.

On another note & requested before, how hard would it be for FeelThere to post a sticky with theirs  & Nyergers latest program revision/SP so we don't have to go through the process of going into the purchasers websites to find out that you already have the latest version. Also we would know when a new version is published. As long as we don't go as far as Microsoft & force updates to you.

Next job is to download KLAS, & get it up & running.

It would appear we all have to go in and fix all these issues are selves or wait who knows how long for ND to update.... it gets quite time consuming to have to go in and make all kinds of changes like this.

I would like to show what I found right away tho... In looking into PHL the

CLT, PHL, 319, AA, 869P, 20:43, 12:00, 1, AA

is actually what would appear a duplicate as well as I also found this further down

CLT, PHL, 319, AA, 869, 19:39, 12:00, 1, AA

as you can see the two are identical minus the slight difference in time... maybe the schedule changed...thus changing the time and instead of changing the time for that flight they made they change as a new entry but forgot to remove the old one?

I only just started to go though PHL so thats all I have found so far at least

cheers,

Dev

etc, ETC,ETC,....

Just a heads up guys, I'm wrapping my custom REAL TRAFFIC file right now for LAX, and PHL & LAS are the next 2 getting my attention.  i WILL have REAL timetable flights with REAL flight numbers available in each of these, as well as a suggestion for cargo locations and flight, (ex. FedEx, UPS, Kalitta Air, etc).  Stay tuned!  I'm sure my custom data grind will go a lot faster than Nyerges!

Vic,

Any chance you can consider a different source for real traffic?  Like myself and Kev here?  I just data grinded an entire 24-hour run at LAX (BOTH departures and arrivals) in a matter of ~25 hours.  This was an absolute cinch and I would LOVE to issue traffic schedules on the regular because no day is the same as the next.  Time tables are readily available to the public and issuing traffic updates on the regular would answer a lot of the concerns people keep posting.  I've had to go this route since Nyerges isn't doing your game justice with all the errors in their schedules.  I support your game and love playing it, but I fear it will get stale if there is no regular adjustments to traffic.  Just food for thought.

Dear Guys,

We apologize for the inattentiveness. Of course, we will take this problem in priority and we will inform you as soon as we fixed the problem. Thank you for your help and patience!

Too bad you can't get PCAviator to post the updates as you release them.

Yes, this situation is bad for all of us, but we are trying to find an alternative solution to be able to provide the updates for those who bought goods from PC Avitor.

Great news!! Can't buy KLAS until I get the update :(

How about uploading them to a download service (such as dropbox, etc) and then provide the link in an email. After all, we do have the license, all we need is the software :)

great job you and Nyergesdesign are doing ,I'm also having fun adding flights to less busy sessions to try and increase the traffic .

Richard,

Almost wrapped up on LAX.   Still testing out some of the GA traffic and cargo terminal use.

Cost -- NOTHING!!!!   I do this for fun.  I'm not going to charge anything since we're getting screwed by Nyerges and their lazy ways.  If we can't depend on them for something quality, I'm more than happy to give something of quality.

Just thought I would mention that in addition to duplicates there are errors in the airline file as well

Wrong callsigns example for KSAN

ROU RV AIR CANADA, AIR CANADA ROUGE, CANADA

as you can see the callsign listed for Air Canada Rouge is Air Canada when it is actually Rouge so it should read

ROU RV ROUGE, AIR CANADA ROUGE, CANADA

there are also airlines that either don't exist any more or go by a new name now.

happy fixing :)

A couple of callsign changes include CPZ which now goes by just COMPASS  and GJS which goes by LINDBERGH.

I may be wrong but I think this is done for a game mechanics perspective, so that you can simply tell a Rouge flight to Follow Company with a regular Air Canada flight.

Changing real life callsigns just to be able to use the FOLLOW COMPANY seems to be in total contrast to products that call itself Real Traffic and Real Color.

This has nothing to do with game mechanics - it is a oversight/mistake in the airlines file.

Besides, I would assume the FOLLOW COMPANY wouldn't work because the airline codes for Rouge and Air Canada are different.

That would only matter if they were both used in the schedule for the same airport, and by just doing a quick check I didn't find one that had both in their schedule..... for RT(sp5) that is.

I agree with crbascott that leaving it as is just to be able to use that ONE command is silly and also unrealistic, and as I just stated they aren't even in a schedule together for it to matter anyway(unless you made a custom one) and judging by all the other things wrong with RT its a pretty safe bet that it is actually an error and oversight.

*EDIT*

Thank you for the suggestion for why it could be like that tho..... but if they did intentionally make that 'error' just to allow us to be able to use that one command still seems silly and unrealistic since they actually have different callsigns.
