  1. Wrong log, that one is the game log. "speech.log" is the one you need to delete and then re-create 🙂
  2. I don't have any Win 7 computers here that I can test on, so i can't be 100% sure how microsoft has changed how the speech engine now works on those computers. However, if the female voice is working correctly and the male voice isn't, then there is something wrong with how windows has the voices set up. ie. if the game wasn't sending the correct information, then both voices would be broken. If you post your speech.log file, I'll have a look and see if there is some indication of what is going wrong. To make the file easier to work with (and smaller), first delete the existing speech.log file (a new one will get created), start the game and set the voice to male, load an airport and let at least one plane say "blah blah blah", then stop the game and post the log file.
  3. On any version of windows, T3D will use just the one male and one female voice. If there is more than one male or female voice (different accents, not just a change in pitch) then a modified version of the game is running.

  8. lol I just answered this in an old post i found while searching for something else, then I read this post 🙂
  9. A couple of years too late for this one, I found the thread while searching for something else. The short answer is that it's a program bug. The long answer: It has nothing to do with video drivers etc. The model for the plane is lagging behind the calculated position of the plane and moves towards the calculated position on every frame. This is a standard way of moving models in a networked game. However, the plane model is moving towards the calculated position slower than the calculated position is moving, thus the model starts to lag more and more behind where it should be. When this gap reaches more than 200 ft then the plane model snaps to the calculated position and the cycle starts again.
  10. I'll also simplify things a bit too and use a single number to show the difference between the cards using Passmark's benchmark score. The higher the better. Prices are based on a very quick search and are in USD, you may be able to find better prices. 180 Radeon HD 5450 $25 499 Radeon HD 6570 $50 1113 Radeon HD 5750 $80 3632 Radeon RX 560 $130 6431 GeForce GTX 1050 Ti $140 Comparison on Passmark website As you can see, the numbering for Radeon's HD cards is weird, with the 5750 performing twice as well as the 6570. The HD 5750 was my previous video card, the GTX 1050 Ti is my current one. Also, for an extra $10 the 1050 Ti performs nearly twice as fast as the RX 560, so it's a good idea to compare price/performance before buying and decide if it's worth spending that extra $10. You can also look up nearly any other existing video card on the site for a comparison, the G3D Mark number is the important one for gaming.
  11. Code is usually found in these types of files, but may be found in other types. Almost all of the types of files shown on that wiki page will look like "a bunch of like scrambled up letters numbers and or symbols" when opened with a text editor.
  12. You need to rewrite the game code so it understands the different plane categories. If it just required a change to the rec file, then I would have publicly released that information six months ago when I first did it.
  13. By default Windows 10 does not give administrators the right to modify files in some directories, including the "Program Files" directory and sub-directories. You will need to change the file/folder permissions in order to modify the files. How to take ownership of files and folders on Windows 10
  14. Not sure if this will help or not, but a common mistake I've seen people make is to start saying the callsign for the plane (ie. Latitude) and then stopping because the window displays the wrong name (ie. Trans Global). At this point the speech recognition is literally guessing (ie. it just finds the first plane in the list that has 3 syllables or more). It can't try to make a proper match until the complete callsign has been said, this includes saying all of the numbers. After those people started using the complete callsign, the accuracy increased significantly. An example: One person I knew told me that a certain airline just didn't work when he was playing. After listening to him try 5 times and stopping after saying the airline name to show me that the wrong airline was always shown in the command window. I asked him why he wasn't saying the whole callsign, he replied that if it can't get the first part right, then it's not going to get the rest right. After, finally, convincing him to try the whole callsign, and I'm sure he only did it to make me shut up, it changed to match the correct airline and flight number. He has been using the complete callsign ever since and hasn't had a problem. 🙂
  15. Already answered. It just means you have set up the first window already. Also already answered. See previous quote where I recommend exiting to the main menu instead of closing the window. I have also already given the reason for this. So just closing the window instead of exiting to the main window is bad, and more likely to cause problems. In answer to your questions. 1. See my last 2 quotes. Even when the window closes by itself, the server doesn't stop running, making new windows harder to keep open or even to just open. 2. Yes. It means that your computer takes 1min 4secs to process 1min worth of game data. ie. it can't quite process it in real time. Opening external windows will make this worse as they will now take a chunk of CPU time of their own. And as @crbascott said, moving the window focus to an external window will also slow down the game/main window. The reason for this is that the game window and the external windows are seperate programs and the operating system gives more CPU time to the window that has focus (the foreground process). I can't remember the exact percentages, but the foreground process will get up to about 80% of the CPU time and all of the background processes (this includes everything else running on the computer) get to share whatever is left over.
  16. For non-steam clients it resets everything as the points are stored in the registry. Steam clients have their points and achievements stored in the steam account, so aren't affected. Tower3D Remove External Window Settings.reg This file resets only the external window positions. I managed to recreate the problem on my computer, and it is a bug with the game. Every time an external window is opened a new TCP server is created for that window, and is very CPU hungry. Closing the external window does not stop the server, so every window that is opened and then closed will start a new server that stays running until the game returns to the main menu. As more servers run, it makes it harder for the information to get to the new external windows and back to the game, this information includes the window size and position. Due to another bug in the game, when these external windows are closed, the server that was created for them become even more CPU hungry and tries to send even more data to the, now closed, window. I managed to get this to happen after opening and closing about 6 windows on a Intel Core i5-9600K (Q4 2018), so a 10 year old AMD Phenom II X6 1055T (Q2 2010) will have difficulty after just a couple of external windows opening and closing, and may have trouble running more than 1 external window. What does this all mean? For the best chance of success, only open the window once. As a work-around, seeing as you are having trouble resizing the windows to get them setup, try setting up one window, exiting to the main menu, then setting up the next window (by itself), exiting to the main menu, then setting up the last window and exiting to the main menu. Then, if your computer can handle all 3 windows, you should now be able to open all of them and play. If your computer can't handle all 3 windows being open at once, then the window positions/sizes will probably get corrupted again, and you are back to the start. Not the best of news, but I hope this helps you understand what is happening. Cheers, Daniel p.s. Opening more than one external window of the same type at the same time almost guarantees that a problem will occur.
  17. @EliGrim is correct. The file removes all of the settings that the game stores in the registry. So after using it, the game will behave as if it was being started for the first time. This is now when you check if the pop-out window works on your primary monitor. It should, hopefully, show and work on the primary monitor before you try to move it to another screen. You are not using the steam version, but for those that are: The file will not reset your steam stats or achievements. FYI: I am running T3D steam and non-steam versions on Windows 10 (v2004 and have used every previous version), with a dual monitor setup with 2 different resolution monitors and can move the pop-up window from one monitor to the other without issues. Current setup: Primary Samsung 1920x1080, Secondary BenQ 1680x1050. And before I had the Samsung, my primary was a LG 1440x900 with the BenQ as secondary (plus a couple of different HDTVs as tertiary for movies 🙂).
  18. It looks like a few people, including me, have had trouble due to the game settings being wrong for some reason. Running this file Tower3D Remove Settings.reg as an admin will remove ALL of the game's settings, something an uninstall/reinstall doesn't do. If the problem still occurs after this, then it isn't due to the game settings/bad window save values/etc. Then the next step is to get it to work properly on the same monitor first, you haven't said if this works. If this works then the program is working properly. Then the next step is to get it to work properly on the second monitor. If this doesn't work, after the previous step worked, then it is an issue with windows/drivers.
  19. It's also possible the window is being drawn outside of the area that your monitors cover ie. drawn off-screen. An old trick to get these back onto your drawn area. Right-click on the title at the top of the empty preview square that pops up from the taskbar. If "Restore" is clickable, click that first. Right click the title again, this time click "Move", then press an arrow key. The window should now be stuck to your mouse pointer. Left click to drop it somewhere on-screen. It may look like it is just a title bar, if so, move your mouse pointer to the bottom right corner until it changes to a diagonal resize pointer. Left click and drag to resize to correct size.
  20. There is no such thing as "voice only" commands. All commands can be typed, including those contained in the tower3d.rec file. Please test your hypotheses before replying with something that can so easily be shown to be incorrect, simply by typing it into the game's command line.
  21. Only commands that the game already knows how to process (ie. can be typed into the command line and work) will be accepted by the game. You could add "Callsign, the moon is made of cheese" and the voice recog will convert it to text, but the game still doesn't know how to process it, and so it will be rejected and will not work.
  22. The relevant error is: EXCEPTION base:The language for the grammar does not match the language of the speech recognizer. Have you followed the checklist in the first post of this thread?
  23. Also, that particular error indicates that your tower3d.rec file (where the voice recognition commands are) is most likely corrupt or has a badly formatted command in it. If you don't know how to fix this yourself then use Steam's game file fixer. Or it's the error that always gets triggered when the game is initially loaded. When an airport gets loaded, it works fine, and something else is causing your problem. So as @scoobflight said, attaching the log file is the best way to figure out the real problem.
  24. What do I mean by optimal? If I have a 8 hour schedule where both Arrivals and Departures are sorted from the the start of the day (morning) to the end of the day (afternoon). Then a plane that arrives at the start of the schedule will match with a departing plane near the end of the schedule. This means that the plane will arrive and sit at the terminal for nearly 8 hrs, stopping that gate from being used by other planes. Using the same schedule, but having the Arrivals sorted from the last flight of the day (afternoon) to the first flight of the day (morning) (ie. backwards), and the Departures are sorted from the first flight of the day (morning) to the last flight of the day (afternoon). Then a plane that arrives at the start of the schedule will match with a departing plane near the start of the schedule. This means that the plane will arrive and might only sit at the terminal for 30 minutes before departing again, allowing other planes to use that gate. More gates open = more planes coming in = more fun = more penalty points? 🙂
