  1. Not really. I mean larger airports with lots of traffic may load a little faster but most of the loading is the AI crunching stuff in the CPU vs HDD to memory. It will load a bit faster but its not a massive difference.
  2. The Real Traffic schedules can be fun but they always seem to have this issue where the airport has few open aprons allowing arrivals and departures go slowly so you actually get like 50 to 60% of the total traffic 😞
  3. I know windows voice and such work best with analogue microphones but it should work with USB. My headset is still analogue and when I am recording I'll do it externally then bring the sound in for editing so I have not really messed with USB microphones or headsets. It sounds as though discord is taking over the mic and not allowing anything else to use it. I'm curious if windows sound recorder can still capture it while discord is running. The mic should be able to handle multiple outputs since it hits windows and is then distributed unless an app is locking down the interface.
  4. I have not run into that issue, I use discord and play the game without issue. What type of headset are you using and drivers? Is it USB or analog? Is Discord running in its legacy setting? (Settings > Audio Subsystem)
  5. During the install did you set the directory to match your game directory and folders or let it go to the default folders?
  6. Cant wait to play this! Though I promised I would play the other airports a little more after like 4 months of nothing but ATL getting a functional layout and some successful 100% runs lol.
  7. Lol with my luck that would happen, but by the end I would be at -so much the game would crash lol.
  8. Lol! When I checked in on him before quitting the session the map zoomed out so far the entire airport was just a spec lol.
  9. Good ol' traffic... Guess he wanted to deliver gold member service and drop them all at their houses: Real Traffic schedules still need some help 😞 Lol.
  10. One or the other will be fine, one is focused on text only input and the other adds in the ability for voice comm. I only own the Pro version and it plays fine with the mods. To get updates for Real Traffic you can send an email to cservice@bmtmicro.com with your order information and they will send you a new download URL.
  11. Yeah, I do from time to time but they still slow down and go way to slow (taxi speeds) for the exits. This exactly. I love going to DFW's observation area and watching the tower blitz the traffic. One plane is barely passed the end of the runway and the next is rolling behind it. Planes come in to land and shoot off the high speed exits surprisingly fast and within minimums the next plane is right there landing. They'll either be clear between staggared pushes not quite at the runway so they move right across the departure runway or they wait for a few departures to create a space. Its a beautiful art of choreographed madness. Sadly that aspect is really hard to recreate in this simulation due to that required stop. At airports like EDDM that really necessitate the high speed exits to maximize the airport at 100% it can be brutal. Go around's are also not really viable unless you close a runway for the circling plane since we have no altitude control to avoid separation error's. Eat the error, the crash or delete the plane. I love EDDM, it's a great unique challenge and the custom schedule Braf put together for it is fun but it falls apart when planes putz down the runway at a snails pace to pull off and stop 1 at a time. Cant even get 2 in that area. Those 45 degree exits are made so planes can get efficiently clear of the runway without having to slow down so much. This way a departure or arrival can make use of it. If I issue their ramp / taxi commands they shouldn't need to stop unless they come up on an active runway or an issued command / problem. Now with that I can be okay with them not putting in but planes should MOVE IT off the run way whenever possible to get clear and stop if the game design necessitates it. At LAX the southern runway has a similar problem. It only comes into play with larger aircraft which typically use more of the runway to land but the stopping point on their exit leaves most of the plane still sitting on the runway blocking traffic. You don't get runway error's because according to the game the plane is clear, but you will have a crash no matter what if you are moving planes along. Until that situation is addressed, airports similar to EDDM that require planes to flow efficiently are a pass for me 😞.
  12. Hmm, I like the idea of EDDS but until the traffic can utilize the high speed exits off the runways and not have to park leaving their tails exposed to the next arriving or departing aircraft on the runway it is going to be a pass for me.
  13. I have one going up tonight, but its with the stock airplanes. Waiting for my Real Traffic Download link to get activated again so I can do some with that. To the OP the airport is nice, the design is well thought out but I can see how you will really have to route your planes around carefully to avoid conflicts if you are using both sides of the airport at once vs one side for in and one for out. I love the staging areas at each runway though 8L I had issues getting default traffic out onto the far N area and other planes were not pulling off the taxiway's very far which could cause a crash at some point when larger planes come along. Cant wait to get some real traffic in there and start tinkering with it. Been looking for something to go into after my ATL series I'm finishing up now.
  14. I agree that the AI is so much better than other similar games by a fair amount and for this style of play this is the first one IMO to really get it properly since the 90's! I do enjoy punishment though :) and ATL is a beast and a blast when the planes don't act idiotic and flat out drive into each other at random :( I think that is the main grief I have with the AI right now, their routing confusion which is minimal in the latest patches is annoying but workable. Love telling a plane to take L D E to the apron and it takes L to the complete other side of the airport to get on M to come back and then drives through the terminal to get over to D lol. Some games the traffic seems to behave and others it just has a mind of its own plowing into anything. I don't know how they were coded but it really does seem to be that arrivals have problems seeing departures and vice versa on a different control or management code. Likewise planes in push-back are on a different "plane" and do not always see the arrivals or departures and push back right into a plane :( If that's something due for next version it's cool I can wait. I do use the "cheat" to have them hold short of a random runway they wont interact with to get them to roll across but its a double edge sword and I have not had much success with it on planes landing to keep them from stopping every time. For planes already on the ground used in the right time frame it is very helpful as a "cheat". I can understand commands and such needing to wait for a new version (The one mentioned here to keep planes rolling and one to allow altitude / speed control for go arounds would be every so lovely :)) For logs, I'm having some issues with those as running the batch file to launch the game and create them causes a fun issue where the .exe is removed and steam trips out trying to download it but is unable without a reboot or reinstall so the game crashes from that / GPU driver issues. -------- As to ATL, I did have less fun with it when first released due to the horrible memory leak or whatever it was dropping us to 8 FPS or less. Once that got fixed I made a goal to get an hour managed without accidents or a massive traffic pile up. I was able to pull it off with a non standard configuration and then again (through some luck as planes did not drive into each other lol) in the regular VFR configuration with some routing hanky panky. I did have to realistically adjust my commands to pretend I am multiple controllers which a single controller for most of these airports would not really happen so I do my best to talk to a departure then if necessary talk over them to speak to an arrival letting the departure finish before going back to a departure but it doesn't always work out. If I am caught up I let everyone finish before talking back. Was good fun getting through 100% ATL traffic mostly properly. And some of the viewers on the vids have had good feedback for improvements to what I'm experimenting with or doing. Should help with the next real world LAX schedule I run through though and is great practice. The last one I did was before SP2 I think and some of the bugs there killed me so I cant wait to run another series there and hopefully succeed. Mostly when I try to figure out if I messed up or the planes messed up and how to correct it I get a bit behind and will spout off commands to catch up which for the most part in my two ATL successes was not really necessary, traffic wasn't unreasonably horrendous and I was keeping up. I had a third one well underway and had 5 planes drive into other planes which is why I made this thread lol :( Anowho @FeelThere thank you for looking and responding, same to everyone :)
  15. I had two things regarding the AI and their routing / visibility: Always had a few issues, admittedly some of them are my fault where I need to hold and continue traffic as necessary but there are times when the AI seems to be unable to "see" another plane. Some patches it seems to be better others it seems to be worse. Airports can make it worse depending on their complexity and the plane timing. ATL which I am playing right now for a series has been causing me some grief with planes pushing from the gate into planes on the terminal taxiways while others wait their turn properly. Departures driving into the sides of arrivals already on the taxiway / vice versa when they would have full visibility of each other or one of the other and would yield. Other times the planes see each other just fine and wait which is very helpful and what most pilots would do in those types of incidents. The worst is the head on collision where (yes the situation started as my fault) but sometimes the two planes will stop and stare each other down mocking me, while others will plow into each other without abandon. Just curious if there is anything being looked into regarding that. Perhaps adding a command to hold at X taxiway for crossing traffic then continue or hold for 2 planes crossing taxiway then continue would help with some of the plane accidents but it seems inconsistent which planes can see each other on the ground. As if the arrivals and departures are part of two separate AI Routing and visibility systems with those at the gate independent of both. --- Second the last few patches for the most part has sped up the routing of traffic around the ground, I am still seeing issues with arrivals though (again specifically at ATL right now but have had a few issues at PHL as well). The airport is complex and voice recognition hates the double / triple character taxiways most of the time but if I issue a direct route but include certain taxiways or too many the planes cannot find the route and sit there immobile even if the visual indicators and text conversion from speech show that it knew exactly what I said. I have to shorten it down until they get on the route and then I can expand upon it a little more. Tied into this is a request: If we issue taxi instructions to a plane as it is slowing down on the arriving runway, pulling off the runway or approaching is there a way to code it for the plane to just roll off the runway at whatever Taxi way already having looked at the route and continue moving with little to no delay. Maybe a command to clear landing and to exit at taxiway X taxi to apron/gate/terminal via X Y C. For the most part with departures once they push and we issue commands for their route they find it immediately and begin rolling. If we change the route the plane parks for a moment and then takes 5 to 10 seconds to get moving again even if they are continuing down the same taxiway just turning off at a different spot. The main issue is the planes always have to pull of the runway and stop for a while before they begin their routing even if they have received instructions for taxiing to their gate and know which gate they are going to. If we adjust routes planes again park each time. If we are drastically changing routes I get it but if we simply are having them enter the runway one entrance earlier off the same parallel taxiway the delay is a bit odd. Thank you!
  16. This is happening for me on ATL. Was trying to record a session with limited time so I tried to get a log after the fact which broke the game lol. Once I reinstall everything and I have a moment I'll dump a log file.
  17. You can install the updates to the game if purchased through Steam no matter where you installed it. Likewise as the only Steam Updates pushed out for this game come from the Dev's in the form of their Service Packs you do not have to worry about your files being overwritten. Typically after an update you have to reinstall things anyway or download updated files to reinstall so its no different through Steam than stand alone. I have two steam directories, one on an HDD reserved for games and one on my game SSD. Tell the installer where the proper folder is and off you go :) The installer tells you the final folder name anyway so you just have to plug in the first bits. If the installer was through Steam it would automatically download it and keep it synced (unless you tell it not to) in the background through the Steam DLC options. The Mod Devs said they have no plans to put it on Steam but most mods are hands off there.
  18. They were sent from BMT, I will reach out to them, thank you for the help!
  19. Awesome, thank you! Been really busy and just got around to checking in. Might be easier on customer service and the community to set up a log in page (perhaps mirroring access ID's from these forums) and have customers input their invoice ID or something unique to our purchase and if it checks out the system can automatically let us go in and grab the latest files. No links or other emails required. Thank you for the reply and help!
  20. My version is also from steam, purchased earlier this year. I have Real Traffic and Real Color and have reinstalled the game multiple times to move it from HDD to HDD and now to SSD as well as fix other issues and problems with custom traffic and so on. In these installs I have never had another folder appear on my windows drive for anything other than the new airport ads in the games main menu. I have run through the wonderful Custom LAX schedule with no issues as it only required the replacement of the game files in the games directory. This one however was not working properly. For me I could load the game and play the schedule but some of the planes were not showing up. I looked up the planes as they appeared vs the schedule to see if it was skipping any and saw that it was the PT planes in the schedule that are not arriving or departing. While I did add the PDT extension to the airlines list it was not working. Tonight I had some time and searched the Airlines file and found that there is also a PTI "Privatair" PT assignment as well potentially causing a conflict. That airline probably was not there when this schedule was written. I just ran a quick test and immediately had PDT planes arriving. Looking forward to playing through this one now. LAX just about did me in though nothing like ATL O_O.
  21. The issue I have with this is my download link for Real Traffic and subsequent real color downloads was only good for 15 days...
  22. Mine seemed to update just fine and seems to have improved play. Tempted to remove / reinstall but have not gotten around to it yet and I have noticed the planes behaving better.
  23. There is a dead zone at the start of any session for about 1 to 3 minutes while the voice is initialized. Usually I push my first 2 planes via the text options and sometimes assign an arrival before it starts working and then it is flawless. Do you have any recognition or sign that the game can hear you after a few minutes (give it 5 to test)? Is your mic enabled and set to the default input device through windows?
  24. Love whats in the works, I would like to see DFW, ORD and DEN come as well.
