  1. A quick Question, What does the figures 319 & 90 represent in the above quote. I understand the others are runway allocations/headings, but what are the other figures for? Kev M
  2. After all the discussion over the problems with the various download sources, can someone tell me the changes in the revised RT addition. The only A/C that I can think of are the 787 & A350. Both are reproducible using existing templates. Perhaps 767 or A330, or are there other goodies in the pack Kev M
  3. I would appreciate a clarification on this because many of us have ditched the schedule that comes with the software and have created our own schedules for specific A/P's using FlightAware or other publicly available information & not Schedule Creator. This information does not come with any restrictions on use that I can find. Therefore I believe that we should be able to distribute home grown schedule freely if the person who created the schedule wants to. The same should apply to the terminal.txt file especially if additional terminals have been created by individual users. I await the bombardment Kev M
  4. Thanks guys for your replies. I started looking at the taxiway allocations for the terminal arrivals and the gate taxiways. They all seem to be a mess. Nothing like the real ones. Looks like some hours revamping the taxiway numbers to something that makes sense. Its a shame that we have to 'fix' new airports so they work well. The map is way out of date, with additional taxiways G5 & H5 added around 2011 but not in the program. Kev M
  5. I need some advice before I plough into a revamp of the terminals at KPHX I want to split terminal 4 into Nth & Sth terminals as per the real airport. Reading all the posts, there are warnings about not changing terminal names. Why! I propose to change terminal 4 to 4 Nth & create a new terminal 4 Sth in the.txt file. Then amend the .afx file to reflect the changes in terminal allocation for the taxiways, terminal taxiways etc. amend the terminal.txt file to reflect the relevant aircraft for each terminal. are there any other files that need changing? will this work? Kev M
  6. Pinback Tracon has never shown the stats to my knowledge. Mine certainly doesn't I used to count the stats in Tower & got all messed up if I lost points etc. I don't anymore. Just sit back, enjoy the program and do the best that you can. I will often replay a time scenario that I hopelessly messed up with slow traffic, wrong runways etc. and replay it to fix the mistakes. The statistics mean nothing really. There's no prizes at the end. Enjoy the experience. Kev M
  7. I have found that the syntax to get them to slow down is quite difficult and have not had much success at it. You have to be very specific with the commands. Talking to ATC controllers in Aus. they say that speed control is not usually used or needed after the A/C are on tower freq as they should be separated by the approach controller. Also listening to US ATC on Live ATC & monitoring various airports, I do not hear speed control used much at all. Kev M
  8. I've downloaded the new version and it works fine. Plenty of arrivals. I am using my own schedule from Flight aware. A thanks to Nyerges Design's for getting on to this and fixing it in a timely manner. Also a nice gesture of getting email to announce the fix. Much appreciated. Well done.
  9. I have had the same problem with no arrivals and the runway 26 problem of "no approach lines found for selected runways". To fix the runway 26 problem do the following. Open Tower2011! folder In Menu Data folder backup the 'menu_map_KPHX.map' file modify the original file using a text editor (i use notepad II) In the Runway= list, Runway 26 is shown as 26R. Delete the R & save the file. Runway 26 works after that. Kev M
  10. Same problem for me. I note Dick Parker and Achilles's comments. I have made my PHX schedule from flight aware schedule. I started at 1300U. There are about 25 arrivals on my schedule. Only one arrived, a cargo A/C. No pax A/C arrived. There are spare slots at the terminal. I rechecked the Terminal.txt file (modified for extra carriers) and all seems OK. Perhaps there is a glitch in the program. If Nyerges Design comes up with a fix, it is important that a forum announcement is made for those who bought the product in good faith. Kev M
  11. I have been looking at the .AFX files for some of the airports to learn how the airport editor works. Most is fairly straight forward but I can not see how to highlight the hold points on a taxiway/runway entry point. I have read both the single player and multiplayer manuals and both talk about knot properties. OK. When I open a taxiway with the editor with a hold point on it, I see nothing in the knot specifications to indicate the hold point is one direction etc. Obviously I am missing something here. Can someone please point me in the right direction as I would like to change some of the holding points to be more specific in their operation. i.e directional and add some if needed. Kev M
  12. Paul, I answered yr other post before seeing this one. As yr running a laptop, check that yr video card is up to it. The program does not like my laptop at all & its got a fairly good video card in it. Also check the audio card is suitable/ funny things can happen during loading if the video card and/or the audio card are not loading correctly. Also make sure yr video driver is up to date. My main unit is 2 screens with a reasonable video card.
  13. nr, I am not running win 7 with tower anymore but what I suggest you do is completely uninstall Tower and make sure the Tower2011! folder is empty of all content and delete the folder. Perhaps even restart you machine so it is a clean start. Reinstall tower as an administrator. Leave the default schedule there for testing. This should now be a clean original tower installation. Try to run tower as an administrator from the start menu see if it works. If it does then you should be OK. Create a shortcut for the desktop and open the properties tab and and if I remember correctly there is an advanced selection in the desktop properties where you can tick, run in administrator mode or something similar. try this. Other than that I can't think of anything else. Others still running win 7 might be able to help you from here. For info, I am running win10 using Tower 2011! single player without any problems. There were a couple at the initial installation of win 10 but all good now. Kev M
  14. Guys Derr, why didn't I think of the schedule file. I revise my Miami schedule file all the time & always checking for new operators, flights etc. Couldn't see the forrest for the trees as they say  bobg921, if you want to make a new schedule file, that more closely resembles a true schedule for a particular airport, download the info from Flight aware. You have to massage it quite a bit in excel but the end results are well worth the work. Also you can learn a lot more tricks in excel this way. Wikipedia is a good source of operators at a particular A/P also the A/P own web site. Passenger flights are relatively easy to find this way but you might need to do some detective work to find the cargo flights. It makes it more interesting if you can add the cargo flights. It's a shame that we can't share schedule.txt files on the forum somewhere. It would be good if some players would volunteer to become the schedule managers for a particular airport and keep the schedule.txt file up to date as best as possible for that airport and publish them on the forum say on a monthly basis.
  15. Run the program using one of the installed airports such as Miami. Set the time to about 1000 local. That ensures good traffic flow. If the airlines are American, Delta etc, and the aircraft types show 737 etc, then Real Traffic is installed. Kevin M
  16. Graham & Roy, Thanks for that info I remember some queries a while ago but could not find them so I gave Roy somewhere to start looking. It gripes me a little that these things are not ironed out in the release of these programs as they are not difficult if you know where to look. It's just knowing where to look. Now all that I have to work out is how to find that reference again if needed. kev
  17. Roy, I misread your post. I do use 8L/R all the time with no problems, although I am using single player. This is not really easy to explain in writing but I will see how we go. What you will need to do is to go into Airfield Editor (open as administrator) and load MIA into it. For Rwy 8R go down to M1 on the Roads & routes box and select edit. An edit box will open and the taxiway will be highlighted. Near the top is the hold point (a blue line) (knot). Click on this and in the edit window, the specs of the knot you clicked on will show. Down at the bottom is Knot properties, Alt should be 0, gate types "GATE Forward" and gate trg "26L,8R. If not then add these to the specs. The taxiway for 8L is L1. the same applies except it shows "GATE 2 ways" and the gate trg is "8L,26R. these designate the holding points for the runways. Save the changes etc. as normal. This should fix any problems. Let me know how you get on. As a side issue it is a shame that there are not more tips, fixes and ideas published on the forum. Perhaps Feelthere should take a more active role in publishing these things as there are a lot of players out there who enjoy improving their experiences with the simulator and have a lot to offer in tips/ ideas experiences etc.
  18. Roy, I use MIA a lot but not from 08L/R I will try it & report back. If there is a problem, I think you might have to go into the airfield editor & do something with the hold positions. I have extensively modified Terminal D to add the extra bays that now exist. It does look funny having A/C parked in the works area in the middle, but greatly increases the traffic flow. Also I amend the schedule regularly to reflect the latest schedules as far as possible. Also I am using Win10 with the single player version with no problems. Of course in the single player version, the runways are 8L/8R instead of the correct ATC call of 08 etc. Kevin M Brisbane Australia
  19. Aquince Did you sort this problem out? I think you need to look at the odd ball aircraft types that turn up in the schedule and are not in the aircraft.txt files and add performance charateristics to get them to work. I have tried to incorporate various business jets and other types into my schedules but it becomes too hard to get performance details etc. Kev M Brisbane Australia
  20. Aquince I has this problem some time ago. I think I fixed it by noting the type of aircraft that was causing the problem. Go into the airplanes.txt file in databases folder and make sure they are in the list of aircraft and note their codes in that file. Open the "plane Ed" in the Airplanes folder and load the aircraft .apx file into it. Check that there is info in the "Close to ALT 0 feet (tower) section. Also add some figures to the close to 12000feet (tracon) area. This may not be needed but it can't do any harm. Kev M Brisbane Australia
  21. Bazvink I have a copy of a JFK sep 2011 airport chart. (NDAC chart). I could email it you. I need your address. Personally I would not worry about it as JFK hasn't changed very much over the last few years. If you want the chart, please post yr email address on the forum. I don't think it will upset anyone or be against any strange rules. Kev M Brisbane Australia
  22. To Newbie I make my own schedule.txt files for airports using mainly flight aware info, massaging it using Excell & converting it to a schedule.txt file. For arrivals, all my departure times are 00:00. For departures all my arrival times are 00:00 All my durations are 60, because its convienient. The schedules work great on Tower and Tracon. If your making your own schedules and are not too fussed on actual arrival times, try to make your arrivals abount 3-5 minutes apart. The program seems to handle these better that two arrival times at the same time. Also make sure that you have assigned a terminal to any new operators to an airport in the Tower "Terminal.txt" file otherwiswe no aircraft from that operator. Also with new schedules, check the airplane.txt, airports.txt & airlines.txt file to make sure all are there. for example the airplane file does not have the 787, 747-8 or A350 in it. Therefore none of these will turn up in the program. I had to make then using similar designs using the airplane editor. All good fun but be prepared for some hours of work making your own schedule files but the finished product is worth it. Kev M Brisbane Australia
  23. This subject has gone very quite of late. Has anyone had real success with Tower & windows 10. I still run Win7 waiting for some information such as speech recognition, program running etc. I don't have the luxury of another unit to put win 10 & tower on to see how it works. What is the feeback on win10 & tower/Tracon ops. :???: Kev M Brisbane Australia
  24. Rich, I think this is what you are looking for. I regularly update the terminal files and schedule files using real world schedules from Flight Aware or Flight Stats. Flight stas does no longer show the A/C types. To get the terminals used I look up the airport using Wikipedia & get the list of airlines from there. Copy the list to a word document or similar. That gives you the basic terminal info. I then sctratch around the airports web sites & find a list of the terminal diagrams and there normally is a list of each airline using the terminals. It is just a matter of opening the respective terminal file using a text editor and amend the fille as needed. Remenber that the terminal file uses the ICAO 4 letter airline codes wheras the schedules use the IATA 3 leter codes. Hope this helps Kev M Brisbane Australia
  25. Yeh, I sort of figured that that would be whats happening. I will keep my eye out to see if it comes on special  Kev M Brisbane Australia
