  1. Thanks guys, I have earned full marks for not seeing the obvious. I unchecked the full screen but did not select apply at the bottom of the screen. All works good now. I think I prefer this layout but will know after a few sessions with it this way. Kev M
  2. How do you "stretch out the screen: I have looked in Windows setup & tried finding some handles on the startup screen to stretch the screen. It might be my video card. Any ideas will help Kev M
  3. Vic Attached is a gnd collision between BAW116 & SVA20. at JFK. Do you need additional info or log files?. An extract from page 6 of the instructions. ". Youre responsibility is to use “HOLD POSITION” commands to keep aircraft off of the active runways and to keep planes from getting into situations where there can be a collision." In multi player, that is fine, keeps the gnd controller on the ball, but in single player, which I think is most of the time, it can be a handful in busy periods. I don't really know if there is a fix for this as it is a design feature of the sim & I think it would be difficult to make it like tower 2011 for single player operation & as it is in multiplayer operation. I might have to just be more diligent. Kev M
  4. To Avwriter The give way command would work fine & be realistic. To Vic I will try to simulate the situation but it is not that easy. It depends on the traffic. A common Scenario is in JFK where a heavy lands on 13L & goes almost to the end & on taxiing on Bravo meets an arrival turning off at taxiway Delta at 90 degrees, they don't give way & collide. I will see what I can do to show it. Kev M
  5. In Tower 2011 aircraft approaching each other from different taxiways would sort themselves out without "bumping" into each other. The only time they crash into each other is if they are heading in opposite direction on the same taxiway. Pro doesn't seem to have this feature. An aircraft coming on to a taxiway after landing will taxi straight into an aircraft already on the taxiway. A big penalty. In RL the surface movement controller would take care of this. In Tower, with a single player, you are doing the job of about 4 RL controllers at once. Could the feature where a/c on taxiways approaching at right angles, automatically sort themselves out as in Tower2011 be introduced into Pro. Trying to handle 70-80 A/C per hr & sort out every gnd taxi movement makes my head hurt. Kev M Brisbane Australia
  6. I don't know if it on the update list but there have been several taxiway name changes around the 4L-31L intersection area. Part of which has seen the demise of the dreaded KK taxiway. It is now KE. Also some changes around 22R with taxiway E and EE has been added. It would be good if these changes could be added to the update, but I understand that there has to be a cut off point somewhere otherwise the update would never be finalised. If it can't make this update then can it be put on the list for a subsequent update, if any Kev M
  7. In an aircraft, the Nav display (ND) indicates wind direction using an arrow usually in the L/H top corner of the display. The arrow shows the direction that the wind is going. i.e the tail of the arrow shows the direction the wind is coming from. Therefore to take off directly into the wind, the arrow head should be facing towards the aircraft tail. Same for the sim display. If the arrow head is facing 270, the wind is blowing from the east to the west, therefore rwy 27 should be used for operations. I know it seems a bit back to front compared to a weather cock at home but they indicate the from direction usually because the tail of the home weather cock is bigger then the head, therefore it swings into the wind.
  8. On the subject of KK at JFK. If you look at the latest AIRPORT DIAGRAM from Flight Aware, most of the Kilo series Taxiways around RWY 31L & 4L intersection have been renamed. Maybe there was real time confusion over the calls. They seem to have eliminated all double same digit taxiways at JFK I will send a note to Nyerges to have a look at it and perhaps fix it if they do a revised ADIRS JFK map.

That will be good For Vic (FeelThere) and for nyergesdesign on a similar subject, I think there is a need for a method of advertising all revisions to the program, especially during the development stages as Tower 3D pro is at the moment. Perhaps a sticky forum subject where file changes,SP's etc can be advised and we can go in at our leisure and download the revised files. Should I make a new post as a request for this. Kev M

  11. The ADIRS on the 2nd monitor disappeared once on me the other day. I opened again & was good for the rest of the session. Sorry I didn't get a game log. Just like the early days of the 747-400, the nav (ND) screens used to disappear and come back by themselves. Kev M
  12. Did that work? I have disabled the sticky key function many times but always within the sim. There must be a way to disable it permanently within Win 10. To feelthere, how hard it it to go back to the tab key? I still hit it occasionally by mistake.
  13. re the sticky buttons. I tried that including going into the windows setup and unticking all the sticky key selections. I then pressed the left shift 5 times in a rapid succession and the sticky options cam up again. Maybe the left shift key was not the best one to pick for keying the mike. I played PHL today and no other problems.
  14. I seem to have sorted out the speech problem. I have to practice my US accent a bit though. One thing that I have noticed is the speech recognition does not seem to work immediately the program starts. It seem to take about 3 attempts before it works. then it works fine. This is not a real big problem though. Also can someone tell me what the + in the menu area of the ADIRS screen is for?? I still have to fiddle around with the screen setup to fix the problem with selecting the taxiways on the ADIRS second monitor screen. A small annoyance for me is if you hit the shift key too many times, the sticky keys windows menu comes up. Got to figure out how to stop that from happening. win 10 OS
  15. Well done to the developers of 3D. I have held off getting it until the Pro version was released. I read the forum posts almost everyday. Having now got pro I have found a couple of little problems that might be able to be fixed or maybe not so easy. 1. I am having problems getting speech recognition to work reliably, but I am working on it. During the period where the speech does not work, I found that the mouse commands for taxi instructions does not seem to work on the second GND screen. To get it to work it seems that you need to open the GND screen on the main screen and click on this to assign taxiways. It would be nice to be able to assign taxiways on the second screen. 2. What is the little + sign on the gnd screen for. It does not seem to do anything. In all, a great job has been done on this program. Kev M
  16. Gareth, I see that no one has really given you an answer. On Tower 2011, the A/C will always turn off towards the area with the most gates. What you need to do is look at all the gates, both commercial and GA & see where they are in relation to the runway(s). Take HNL for an example, the passenger terminal are all on one side of 18L/26R. but the cargo & GA parking are on the other side. All A/C arriving flights turn right off 8L because that is where the majority of gates are. To fix this, & it is not always ways easy at all airports, count the number of gates on each side of the runways & using airport editor delete some of the gates (especially GA gates) such that the number of gates on the side that you want the A/C to go to is greater than the other side. The flights will now turn towards the side with the greater number of gates. For HNL, i deleted a number of GA gates so that the pax gates exceeded the GA & cargo gates. now all pax flights turn towards the main terminal, also the cargo flights, but that is part of accepting the limitations of the program.   17. I am still running Tower 2011 single player version on win 10. I played an hour of HNL today with my own schedules and it works fine. Tracon 2012 is also good. I bought the multi player version of Tower when Feelthere said that they didn't support the single player version after win 7. I had problems with some of the early ad- on airports and I had to modify the menu data files. That caused problems so I uninstalled everything & reinstalled tower 2011 single player and have not looked back. Interesting that sometimes UPS flights are called upsXXX & other times are called U P S (separate letters)XXX Can't work that one out. After 5 yrs, still enjoying the sim. A computer upgrade is near, after which I will be plouging into the 3D version but not until the Pro version is available & most importantly to me, multi screen & audio commands.   19. Steve I don't think it matters much as long as the headset has a boom mike for convenience. I have used a Plantronics one that I paid about $30 Aust. for. The ear foams failed and can't be replaced. I then used a AUD 9.00 unit from the local supermarket that I used for Skype when overseas and it works fine. In my opinion you don't need to spend a lot of money for a headset. Both mine are the type with jack plugs on the end & plug into the sound card. The hardest bit is to get the speech to come out of the headset and the engine noise to come out of the speakers. That is another subject. Try a cheapy & see how you go. Kev M
  20. Henrik, The problem was not the airplane landing distance being longer than the runway. It was stopping 4 taxiways short of the runway end but instead of turning off and moving up to the gate & waiting for the taxi instructions, it goes just past the taxiway turnoff off the runway and stops. You need to give it a taxi command to get it to the gate then another to get it to taxi to terminal. I think it is something funny with the turnoff but can't find what it is. By shortening the landing run and making it more realistic compared to the A320 it turns off one taxiway shorter and works good. For me, problem fixed. Kev M
  21. I contacted Nyerges Design and they emailed me the SP3 directly which I appreciated. Looking through it, the A350 is not included. I queried this with them and they said it was not there. I would have thought with a new Sp the newer A/c would have been in the file. I have made files for the A350 800/900 & 1000. Now all I need is test it with a phoney schedule to see if it works. Kev M
  22. Problem with the turnoff traced to A321 A/C. I reduced the landing length to be more realistic and it works fine now. I also reduced the 739 landing length to be closer to the 738. Much better. Kev M
  23. Guys, I had a session today with heaps of landings on 26 & 25R. A 739 exited at B5 with no problems. Not one exited at B6 which I think is the problem turnoff. I am recording which exit the different types use to try & find the troublesome one. This also helps control ground movements especially when intermixed with cessna's B190's etc. landing very short on 25R. I will keep trying. Also the taxiways B5 n B6 look Ok to me. I will look further though. I've really got to adjust the 739 landing distance as it is far too long compared to the 738. All good fun. Kev M

Gareth & Roy & nyergesdesign if they are monitoring this, What's happening is that the aircraft are not swinging off the runway at the turnoff point but going slightly further, but not past the actual intersection. They then turn off the runway and stop and don't seem to have anywhere to go. They are not up to the stop gate at this stage. You give the taxi command and it proceeds to the stop gate as normal, needing a further command to taxi from there. It seems that whatever commands the A/C to turn off at a certain point is not commanding the A/C to turn off early enough. I has it twice last run but the screen grabs that I took only showed the radars etc. i.e. second monitor screen. I will try again when I can next time it happens. Kev M
