TESTING SP2 FOR TOWER!3D WITH REAL TRAFFIC
Avwriter replied to FeelThere_Vic's topic in ATC Simulators
Thank you! Looking forward to more shots like this, especially with some 4-engine aircraft at KLAX. Andrew -
Should we consider this a hint about one of the three add-ons you said you are testing?
-
Based on the Command bar, and ADIRS, I am guessing that this shot is from the Pro version.
-
Thanks for the explanation.
-
Yes, I really do wish that they would allow us to zoom in closer. The current max zoom level is just not enough. People have been requesting this since the beginning.
-
Vic has already stated in previous posts that this will be decided once the Pro version is near completion and they are setting the price. There was a rather impassioned discussion of this back when the basic version was released last spring, so I think he is well aware that this is important to many of us.

Thanks for the update Vic. It is very exciting to hear that so much progress is being made in so many different directions. I'm very much looking forward to all of them. Andrew

Hey Vic, Now that you guys are back form vacation, well rested, and on the job, maybe you could share some new tidbits of info with us. We, or at least I, are very eager for the next step. Will the SP2, you mentioned bring any major fixes/improvements, or is it purely for the purpose of integrating add-on airports? Andrew
-
It was removed. Feel There confirmed that it was a developer tool, and was left in the original game by accident.
-
Simply remove the extensions folder. If you like you can just drag it to you desktop, or somewhere else convenient. Then, if you want to use it again, just drag it back into the Tower3D folder.

Some screenshots of the Real Traffic/Real color would be great. Cannot wait to see 747s, A340s, and A380s, along with MD-80s and 753s in this sim.

Yes. Just right-click over the aircraft (either radar screen) and you can move the tag around. One other tip, another user recently discovered that you can avoid wait penalties for planes at the gate (or that have just landed) by giving them taxi instructions and then telling them to hold position. Otherwise, you get a penalty if they don't move for 15 minutes. Handy to know.
-
1. IN the lower right corner of each of these, there is a little area with dots. If you left-click and hold on this area, you can adjust the size of the window. 2. When you click on any approaching/landing/landed aircraft symbol on either radar display, you will see the assigned terminal highlighted in blue on the ground display. This even works while the approaching aircraft is still in the air, so you can reassign it to a closer runway if desired/practical. 3. Yes several of us have observed this behavior at certain runway exits. Usually, reissuing the command a few times gets the aircraft to begin moving. Also, issuing taxi to terminal instructions to landing aircraft before it stops moving will also prevent this from happening.
-
Ha ha ha! Now that is what I call realism. After all, airlines in the real world seem to use the same trick. They push back on time, getting credit for an on-time departure, and then park somewhere for an hour and a half till a runway slot opens up.

+1 on multi-monitor support. It may not be advertised, but to the customer, it seems like a huge step backwards, since this capability was supported in Tower 2011. I understand it is an issue with the engine, but nevertheless it seems bizarre to lose a feature that is so commonplace in most modern software applications. My other frustration (really even bigger than multi-monitor), is the lack of visible landing lights on aircraft in the air. It may seem like a small thing, but it forces the user to rely exclusively on the radar to track approaching aircraft until just moments before landing, which kills the immersion factor for me. At a real airport, you can see the landing lights of approaching aircraft from several miles away, even in the daytime. Is there a technical reason that this is not possible to do in Tower3D, or was it an oversight?
-
Okay. I guess I was just trying to verify whether it truly is random, or wheter the random generator worked within some sort of predefined framework, since so far I only rarely see much variation.
-
My experience so far in the sim is that with the random weather function, the weather only seems to change after lengthy intervals, seems like an hour or so. Ie. if the sim begins during a storm, the storm usually goes on for an an hour or so before the weather begins to change. Is this what others are seeing too? Is this by design? Would it be problematic to add a slider that lets the user adjust the frequency of changing weather, according to preference? Sometimes it would be nice to see a popup storm that passes after 15 minutes or so. Andrew

Sorry, I was not aware that I had double posted. I clicked the post button and it just happened.

Hi Vic Just wondering how progress on KJFK and KATL is going? Would be great to here any info you are willing to provide. Screenshots would be great too. Andrew

Once we have the SP + Real Traffic (with more aircraft types) + Real Color + a few more add-ons, I do not think Tower 2011 will hold a candle to it. Personally, I do not really enjoy speech recognition types sims. Of course I will welcome the other features that the Pro version will bring us.

That's a new one for me. Have your tried uninstalling/reinstalling?

Speaking for myself, I would have to say KLGA. -

KLGA, EGLL, KCLT -
Try downloading it from there and see what the version number is. If it says SP3 then it is the new one.
