TOM is THOMSON AIRWAYS, which was TUI Airways' name until October 2017. They kept the ICAO code. -
Some pics from airports everywhere! (title changed)
DeltaVII replied to CL30's topic in ATC Simulators
I caught some nice ones at my home airport when runway 15/33 was closed for maintenance and all traffic relied on runway 05 (which is a pretty rare occurrance, especially for departures). Unfortunately, my camera failed me when our Islamic guest took off: the Emirates 777 which will be replaced by our big baby, the A380, coming home for one of the two daily connections starting October 29. But my lense got some other fine aircraft... I hate to admit it, @AirJamaica, but you've got the cooler Icelandair planes. We only get the bland 752... But we have a cute "Europa-Park" A320 operated by Eurowings instead... (Europa-Park is an amusement park in southern Germany near the border triangle with France and Switzerland) Rather unexciting: The Aeroflot A320. But then again there's this cute Scandinavian ATR 72-600. -
I play KPHX "often enough" (for someone loving JFK, that is). For me, it definitely leaves enough options for variation, like 8/26 for the northside and the 7s/25s for the southside, or 8/26 departure-only and the 7s/25s arrival only and vice-versa, or not using one of the runways at all, or closing down certain taxiways like S/T (due to the bridge being damaged)...

Use the tower3d.bat file in your installation folder to start the game.

I hate to break it to you, but 18C and 18R are runways at KMEM, Ariel...
-
In the game, yes. On Flightradar24, I just saw an MD-11 (FX1419) departing to Oakland from runway 27 and another (FX1430) from 18R.

You follow the aircraft by clicking on it's tag in ADIRS or it's strip, and you zoom in or out using the mouse wheel when the aircraft is not selected (use the CLEAR button in the command panel).

The L1011-500 was the first plane I ever travelled with, back in 1991. LTU flight LT900 from EDDL to KMIA. And back two weeks later with LT901. Memories...

Too real, winsaudi. Too real...

There's an RT update for every airport, if only to ship real traffic for the new airport.

Yeah. KLAX under northbound/southbound rules is unmanageable for me. Even with the standard T3D schedule. Unless I find a better schedule - and get a better feeling for the outbound routes for the many destinations I don't recognize the ICAO code of...

Nah, they go for the big harbor tour (as we in HAM say). It's not that difficult, as the southern arrivals on 24R vacate either Z or AA and I send them down to C via either R or AA holding short of S or P, and the northern arrivals on 25L vacate between H4 and N and get sent down to P to cross 25R and then via B, S, D. But I admit I haven't tried crbascott's scenario, yet, which would be much easier with T going all the way from E down to A and D going down to R instead of S.

Normally, I try to keep the sequence alive on all airports, except when there are reasons to break it. One scenario where I break the sequence is at Kennedy when there are aircraft from terminals 8 and 1 taxiing to 31L via B and I have private planes coming from the GA ramp for 31L@KE, I always let go the jets first (so they don't get stuck behind the rich guys), and when the one-percenters arrive at KE I let them go as soon as I've got the bigger jets (above 737, 321) out. It takes a little juggling, but it works. (My holding points for that scenario are short of KE on B, short of K on A with J to funnel them into sequence, sometimes additionally short of J on Y in case I need more space.) Even more tricky is the opposite direction, taking turns in using P and Q with holding points short of PE each to keep the sequence. I must admit that I don't really care about the overall sequence at all airports with parallel departures, like Orlando, Munich (when I simultaneously use both runways for departures and arrivals), Atlanta, Phoenix, San Francisco (for the 1s). I just keep the runway-specific sequence as far as it's possible. In those cases, however, I strongly believe in load distribution and, for example, let American or United depart from Orlando's 35L, if there's backlog for 36R and crickets on 35L.

Me too. Like EDDH... 😄

How about DXB (Dubai International), JNB (O. R. Tambo Airport, Johannesburg), CAI (Cairo International), TLV (Ben Gurion, with triangular runways), HND (Tokio-Haneda), BOM (Mumbai), MAD (Madrid-Barajas)?

Ah, thx.

Seeing this, I start to wonder where Iron Maiden's several Ed Force Ones where parked during concerts - GA ramp or terminal...?
-
If I may add a minor optical issue: incoming bigger jets going to Terminal_E (which works fine otherwise) don't go deep enough into their gates. I've seen it with Condor's 763, Virgin's 744. It's not causing any problems. When I checked whether the tugs find the planes when the turnaround is due (incoming VIR85 goes out as VIR44, incoming VIR43 goes out as VIR86) the pushback worked just fine. It's only the looks (I always wonder how the pax get out and on the planes when the airbridge doesn't connect to the plane... 🤔 😄). When I start a game with those planes already sitting at the gates waiting to go out, they're positioned correctly, by the way.

KLGA taxi issues via A M coming off runway 4
DeltaVII replied to pete_agreatguy's topic in ATC Simulators
I know how that happens. That ramp that goes off from the intersection of A and M is not on M. So the game calculates a way to enter it via M, which is left on L, right on B, right on M into the ramp. In earlier Tower versions the game ignored it, which led to other problems (like ignoring intermediate taxiways causing difficulties for an extended routing - for example at KJFK when JetBlue's E90 landing on 4L exit at J, I don't like them to jam the J/B intersection due to the sharp turn, so I give instructions to taxi via J, A, KE, B and G/F/DA/D, let them hold on KE and let go the traffic waiting on B before sending them to the ramp). You can see it in the log, too: COMMAND: DAL886 TAXI TO TERMINAL VIA A M leads to: DAL886 => Route is: F, F, A, L, B, M, M, ramp_2, C26, calculate time: 0.1850586s highest count: 37465 COMMAND: DAL886 TAXI TO TERMINAL VIA A leads to: DAL886 => Route is: A, ramp_2, C26, calculate time: 0.1152344s highest count: 114 The ramp_2 entry is from A, not from M. -
It's at least a good idea to check whenever a new SP is out. But you definitely have to update RealTraffic whenever you buy a newly published airport.

KPHL airport due some (brotherly) love (please?)
DeltaVII replied to Pdubya's topic in ATC Simulators
Funny, I'm on vacation, too. But somehow I've got the feeling we both will have a diametrically different handling when it comes to bug reporting... 😄 -
How about Abbotsford?

An installer picking up the default installation path from the registry would be a dream come true.

Some pics from airports everywhere! (title changed)
DeltaVII replied to CL30's topic in ATC Simulators
I think I'll share some pictures from my home airport, then. It's EDDH (HAM). It's named after former chancellor Helmut Schmidt and is the oldest as well as the fifth-biggest airport in Germany (but still pretty small and having a similar layout to La Guardia). It's equipped with two runways: 05/23 (10,663 ft., displaced thresholds on both ends) and 15/33 (12,028 ft., displaced threshold in the south). Most of the time the airport operates on both runways. The common configurations are landing on 23 (Langenhorn approach) or 05 (Niendorf approach), takeoff on 33 (Norderstedt departure). Depending on the wind they sometimes switch to departures on 23 and arrivals on 15, which was the scenario on the day I took the photos from two spotting points, Holtkoppel and Nordportbogen (in Norderstedt). Takeoff of an Air Berlin Airbus A321-211 with registration D-ABCA (now: Easyjet's G-POWU) on runway 23 with the radar tower. EDDH tower in front of Lufthansa Technik (maintenance) with parked aircraft on apron 2 and the television tower (we call it "Telemichel", derived from a the landmark steeple of St. Michaelis church we just call "Michel") in the distance. A Cessna 525 Citation CJ1+ performing a "late" touchdown on runway 15. A Lufthansa CityLine ("HansaLine") CRJ-701ER (registration: D-ACPD) landing on runway 15. The same Lufthansa CityLine CRJ taking off on runway 15 a little later (which is a rare occurrance, since the flight path leads over the whole city) with the "City Nord" business park in the distance. The ALS on runway 15. And this is Terminal 1 from the inside. It was rebuilt in 2005. -
